Welcome to the NXT Report!

Alexa Bliss vs. Carmella

They lock up but break it off quickly. Alexa goes to a headlock and shoulder blocks Carmella down. She fakes running off the ropes and stomps on Carmella’s head. Both women get roll ups for two before Carmella lands on her feet on an arm drag attempt. Alexa charges, misses and gets caught with a flying head scissors. Carmella hits an ugly headlock takeover and mostly whiffs on a dropkick that sends Alexa outside. She moonwalks away from Alexa and it’s always impressive. Carmella takes Alexa to the mat with a headlock. Alexa tries to get free several times but can’t and it frustrates her. She finally does and grinds her foot into Carmella before snapping her arm over the bottom rope. Following a commercial break, Alexa continues the attack on the arm, wrenching away at it. Alexa hits the Insult to Injury (back flip knee drop) for two and throws a tantrum. Her argument with the official opens the door for Carmella to get in a big left hand. Carmella fires off clotheslines before driving Alexa into her boot in the corner. She whips off a rana and scores on a superkick. STATEN ISLAND SHUFFLE and bronco buster. Alexa gets two on a desperate sunset flip. Alexa climbs up but Carmella stops her with some shots. She goes up with the Trish handstand rana for two. Alexa does her chokeslam type move, steps on Carmella and goes up top. Sparkle Splash, now known as Twisted Bliss, wins it.

Winner: Alexa Bliss in 9:28

I’d say this was the best either girl has looked outside of their matches with Bayley. Carmella sold the arm work very well, though it didn’t play into too much of the work. Solid work from both girls, especially when put up against the awful match they had last year. Maybe I’m rating it too high but considering their improvement and my overall enjoyment, I dug it. ***

They recap the face to face between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura two weeks ago. This leads to exclusive comments from Shinsuke Nakamura, who says they are good friends. His English is actually pretty damn good. He says that he came to NXT to earn things like FInn did. He expects te match to be exciting and he promises to give the fans something sensational. They meet in two weeks.

Bayley is interviewed by Cathy Kelley. She is excited and says that she’s ready for a shot at the title. Alexa Bliss interrupts, saying that Bayley blew her chance at the title and thinks that Bayley has to go through her to get a shot. She enjoyed beating Carmella, but will take more pleasure in beating Bayley.

Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Noah Potjes

Commentary spends some time making fun of Noah’s face. Noah works a wristlock that Almas quickly gets out of . Of course, the way he gets out features flips and fancy shit. He also sues a cartwheel to get free before hitting a great basement dropkick. He’s too quick for Noah to get him while outside and he scores on another dropkick before doing his “latch on the ropes and pose” gimmick. Noah pounds away with some axe handles, right hands and stomps. He works a chinlock that Almas fights out of. He hits a big elbow and springboard dropkick. A wheelbarrow bulldog follows and the double running knees in the corner wraps it up.

Winner: Andrade Almas in 2:52

This works as a decent squash for Almas and nothing more.

Austin Aries is interviewed about his attack on No Way Jose. He basically says that if the fans want to boo him, he’ll give them something to boo about. He blames the fans for what he did to Jose and calls them fat and pasty.

Finn Balor speaks about Shinsuke Nakamura now. He say that he was out of his depth in Japan but Shinsuke Nakamura kind of took him under his wing. He calls him a legitimate friend and was very happy to hear that Shinsuke was coming over. He returned the favor to help Shinsuke adapt to the States. Basically, he’s excited about the match. I apologize if I missed something but there were some loud people outside of my house and I couldn’t hear very well.

Next week, Alexa Bliss takes on Bayley!

The Hype Bros vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

Mojo begins with Gargano and he’s HYPE! Gargano applies a headlock but gets thrown off by his bigger opponent. Mojo starts doing his football three point stance stuff. Tag to Ryder who comes in with a slingshot splash. Ryder holds serve until Gargano scores on a dropkick. Tag to Ciampa and they fail on a double team. However, Gargano scores on a cool kick and Ciampa hits a neckbreaker for two. Jumping facebuster from Ryder for a one count. The Hype Bros try a double team but Moo gets sent outside. Ciampa runs to the ropes and Mojo pulls them down on him before Ryder follows with a dropkick. Gargano flies out with a suicide dive before Mojo destroys him with a clothesline. Following a break, Mojo is wearing down Gargano. Gargano gets free and hits an enziguri. Tag to Ciampa and Ryder, and Ciampa outmuscles him. He hits a jumping clothesline but charges into double knees in the corner. Tag to Mojo who hits a big corner splash and the POUNCE…PERIOD! He covers but Gargano breaks it up. Mojo sends Johnny outside and tags Ryder. They go for the Hype Ryder but Gargano pulls Mojo outside and superkicks him. Ryder jumps off and huts his leg. Ciampa clotheslines him for two. Ciampa sets Ryder up top as he and Gargano try a double superplex. Mojo powerbombs them off instead and Ryder comes off the top with the Elbro drop.for a near fall. Ciampa sends Mojo into the corner while Gargano rolls up Ryder for two. He Ciampa tags in but gets knocked off the apron. Ryder has the Broski Boot cut off by a Ciampa clothesline. Using their running kick and knee combo, Gargano and Ciampa win.

Winners: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa in 8:45

Better than I expected it to be. Gargano and Ciampa have become one of the best teams to watch in NXT and I look forward to seeing them shine in the CWC. **3/4

After the match, Gargano gets on the microphone and says the win should put them in line for a title shot. American Alpha interrupt. It’s their first appearance since TakeOver. Jason Jordan says no offense, but they aren’t next in line. Chad Gable says that if Gargano and Ciampa get a shot it’ll be against them and not the Revival. The Revival interrupt now and say this is flattering, but they want the bickering to stop. They let the other teams in on a “top guy secret” saying they are calling the shots. Dawson says neither team deserves it. William Regal shows up to tell the Revival that he calls the shots. Next week, the Revival will defend the titles against American Alpha in a Two Out of 3 Falls match. Gargano, Ciampa and American Alpha shake hands in the ring. The Authors of Pain again attack American Alpha from behind. Ciamp aand Gargano try to help but get beat up as well. Gable and Jordan fight back and Jordan suplexes the shit out of one of the dudes. They ultimately fall though. Paul Ellering calls of his dogs to end the show.
