411’s WWE NXT Report 7.1.15

July 1, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Welcome to another NXT Report!

We open with a short video promoting tonight’s main event. Samoa Joe and Finn Balor against Rhyno and Kevin Owens.

The Vaudevillains vs. Dawson and Wilder

Simon Gotch starts with Scott Dawson. Gotch gets a sunset flip for two in the corner. He and Aiden work some quick tags and rather entertaining double teams. “That was manly” chants for a double punch. The Mechanics turn the tide and pound away on Gotch with some quick tags of their own. They miscue on a whip into the corner, allowing the tag to come to English. He comes in hot and hits a nice kick on Wilder. Tag back to Gotch and they hit a double team to win.

Winner: The Vaudevillains in 3:07

Decent opener. Had the old school squash match feel to it, which I can appreciate. Acceptable stuff. **

Devin Taylor interviews Becky Lynch at the Performance Center. She suffered a hip flexor injury and has to take a few weeks off. She promises to be back hungrier than ever and says it’s just the start of N-Bex-T.

Baron Corbin vs. Tucker Knight

Baron Corbin is still doing squash matches, but is a bit more aggressive now. He toys with Knight and wins with the End of Days.

Winner: Baron Corbin in 0:44

I get that Corbin needs to still look like a beast but considering he’s worked long matches with Rhyno and guys like Breeze and Kidd on live events, can’t he do something besides under a minute matches? No Rating

In the back, William Regal is being bothered by the Vaudevillains and Enzo and Cass. He puts them in a match next week to determine new number one contenders.

We get part three of “Who is Finn Balor?” Once again, it is fantastic stuff. They show his NXT debut and how it said Prince Devitt on the tron before changing to Finn Balor, which wasn’t shown on TV originally. Things are shown of his live event match for the WWE in Dublin and Tripe H helping him choreograph his entrance.

A clip is shown of Eva Marie training in the ring as William Regal and Sara Amato watched.

Emma w/ Dana Brooke vs. Carmella

Emma has a new remixed version of her old theme. They exchange some mat work before Emma gets in a cheap knee to take control. Carmella busts out a head scissors and clothesline before Emma runs to the ropes. Emma again goes to a cheap shot. Emma goes to a body scissors on the mat, which is a move that just looks stupid. She just add some aggressive clubs that help. Emma does some corner shoulder thrusts but Carmella comes out with fire, even hitting a Lou Thez press. Carmella charges but is tripped up. Emmalock is applied and Carmella taps.

Winner: Emma in 4:11

Not a bad Divas match. Emma seems to be growing into her new heel persona. It seems to be suiting her well.

Backstage, Bull Dempsey is pissed because he’s trying to get food out of a vending machine and it ate his money. William Regal calms him down but notices that he has chocolate all over his mouth. He tells him to get in shape.

A clip from last week is shown where Jason Jordan ponders his loss. Chad Gable comes up to him and again petitions to be his partner.

Tyler Breeze vs. Tye Dillinger

I need “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger on TV now. Dillinger gets in a fair amount of stomps in the corner before choking Breeze with his foot. He even fakes like he’s taking a picture of Breeze. He stomps on Breeze’s hand and is getting way more offense than expected. The fans are chanting “10” but the at home viewer would be clueless. Breeze counters a move into a reverse DDT. He hits a hurricanrana, earning a “6 at best” chant. Breeze catches a rebounding Tye with the Beauty Shot.

Winner: Tyler Breeze in 2:50

Another fine relative squash. Tye got in more offense than expected.

Backstage, Dana Brooke and Emma are in Sasha Banks’ locker room messing with her title. Sasha shows up and Dana says that they are taking over the division, so Sasha challenges them. Emma tells her to get a partner but they don’t think she’ll find one.

Finn Balor and Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno and Kevin Owens

Samoa Joe and Rhyno start out clubbing each other. Joe tags Finn following an enziguri. Finn hits a sweet dropkick for two. Owens get tagged and has a fun exchange with Finn. Finn hits a dropkick but Owens takes over in the corner. Returning from a commercial for the Japan show, Owens has a chinlock on Finn Balor. Owens and Rhyno trade wearing down Finn, as they build to the hot tag to Joe. Owens does Cena’s “five moves of doom” on Balor to a pretty good pop. Hot tag comes but it doesn’t get the reaction it should have. Joe hits Rhyno with an atomic drop, running kick and senton for two. Owens runs into the STJoe. He sets for the Muscle Buster with Finn getting ready for the double stomp but Rhyno interrupts. Owens hits Joe with the popup powerbomb. Finn comes in and counters the AA. Owens hits a superkick, followed instantly by a Pele. Finn dodges the Gore, which connects on Owens. He then dropkicks Rhyno into Owens, dropkicks Owens and hits the double stomp for the win.

Winners: Finn Balor and Samoa Joe in 9:09

Fun tag main event, but nothing out of this world. The final few minutes after the hot tag were really good though. **3/4
