411’s WWE NXT Report 7.22.15

July 22, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Welcome to the NXT Report!

The show opens with a video package to recap Finn Balor’s NXT Title win.

Finn Balor is actually the first person we see as he comes out to “Finn” chants. He gets “you deserve it” chants as Craig Hamilton gets set to interview him. He talks about his past and that winning the NXT Title made all of the sacrifices he made worth it. When they mention TakeOver: Brooklyn, the Florida fans boo. There will be a contract signing for Kevin Owens/Finn Balor III tonight. Finn runs through the list of things Owens has done like hurt Neville, Zayn, Rusev and others, winning the NXT Title and pinning John Cena. Finn says the one thing Owens didn’t do was beat him in Japan and the same thing will happen in Brooklyn.

Tonight, Bayley returns to take on Emma.

Devin Taylor interviews Eva Marie as she is making her re-debut tonight. Eva thanks William Regal for the opportunity and says that the NXT fans have the wrong idea about her.

Eva Marie vs. Cassie

Eva Marie is wearing a pretty awful looking robe. She gets booed pretty hard throughout. They look up and Eva does some weak looking acrobats to get out of a wrist lock. There are now dueling chants of “let’s go Eva” and “Eva sucks”. Cassie hits a corner spin kick but Eva comes back with a suplex for two. She hits a nice boot and mediocre looking senton. Eva works a mild submission for a bit as the crowd rallies Cassie. She gets out with a jawbreaker and hits some very nice kicks. After about four of them, she gets two. Eva pulls her into the ropes and hits Sliced Bread for the win.

Winner: Eva Marie in 3:50

There’s some improvement there, but that was much hyped for nothing. 1/2*

William Regal is on the phone walking into his office when Tyler Breeze is already there. He says that he is going to find something to do at TakeOver.

Baron Corbin vs. Jobber

I didn’t get a name on the jobber but this ends with an End of Days in 10 seconds.

Winner: Baron Corbin in 0:10

Complete squash. NO RATING.

Samoa Joe vs. Mike Rollis

Samoa Joe has a new theme. It’s much better. Mike Rollis quickly attacks but Joe turns it around and lights him up. Joe continues to just beat the shit out of Rollis. A popup informs us that in two weeks, Samoa Joe goes one on one with Rhyno. Joe hits the “Ole” facewashses before Rollis tries a comeback. he runs into the STJoe. He hits the Muscle Buster and wins.

Winner: Samoa Joe in 2:03

Another squash. Mike Rollis got in strikes and Samoa Joe did everything else. 3/4*

Devin Taylor interviews Emma, who is with Dana Brooke. Emma says that it’s creepy that Bayley wants to do more than hug her. Emma says that she not only broke Bayley’s hand but she’s going to break her childish spirit. She then awkwardly gets a hug from Dana.

Bayley vs. Emma w/ Dana Brooke

Evil Emma is looking fantastic tonight. Emma is sporting a Bayley slap bracelet. Bayley still has a brace on her wrist. Bayley takes back the slap bracelet but gets attacked from behind. Bayley rallies and hits a bulldog for two. Emma goes back to the hand, which I greatly appreciate. Targeting the hand isn’t something done often, but it makes tons of sense here. Emma is doing very well at wearing down Bayley by targeting that hand. Bayley gets free and takes her down with some hammers. I’m not a fan of her using that hand. She connects on a second rope back elbow for two. They go old school with the double clothesline spot. Dana Brooke grabs her hand and it doesn’t result in a DQ but Dana is ejected. Bayley rolls Emma up but it gets countered for two. Bayley catches her in the Belly to Bayley and that’s a wrap.

Winner: Bayley in 5:35

Best match of the night. Emma targeting the hand was excellent, as was Bayley selling the pain. My only real gripe is that while Bayley sold the pain well, she went to using that hand during her comeback. That irks me. **1/4

After the match, Bayley cuts a promo about being the next NXT Women’s Champion. In order to do that, she needs to beat the best so she challenges Charlotte.

We are taken to quick highlights of the “Divas Revolution.” They show Charlotte win the Triple Threat match at Battleground and her win over Brie Bella on Raw. Dasha Fuentes interviews her about Bayley’s challenge. Charlotte is proud of what they did on Raw and wants to bring the title to Raw. Dana Brooke interrupts because she hasn’t been given the chances that Charlotte has. She challenges her and Charlotte says Bayley will wait another week but next week it’s her vs. Dana.

The Vaudevillains vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton

Simon Gotch starts with Angelo Dawkins, getting a near fall on a rollup. It is announced that the Vaudevillains get their NXT Tag Team Title shot next week against Blake and Murhpy. Fulton gets tagged and beats up Gotch for a bit. Fulton hits an atomic drop into a dropkick from Dawkins. I’d love to see these guys get more time down the road. Gotch gets free with some very interesting kicks and tags English who comes in warm. After a knee attack he does a manly pose for a laugh. He hits a variation of the side effect and tags Gotch. They hit the Whirling Dervish to win.

Winners: The Vaudevillains in 2:46

I was impressed by Fulton and Dawkins more than I was by the Vaudevillains here. This match was just there. *

BAMF is interviewed backstage. It’s short with Alexa Bliss basically pulling their strings.

William Regal is out to oversee the contract signing. Brooklyn continues to get booed. Kevin Owens interrupts and makes his way to the ring. Finn Balor is out next and Owens asks him how it feels to be NXT Champion. He mentions Brooklyn on purpose to get extra heat. Owens says that Finn enters the match as Champion, but still as the underdog. Owens says that is the case because he beat Cesaro, sent Neville packing, hurt Zayn and beat Cena. He says that Japan was a fluke and he will end Finn for good. Finn responds by saying that he will shove those words down Kevin’s throat. He signs on the dotted line, then Owens and Regal signs. Owens throws the table over on Finn and even levels Regals. He continues to pound on Balor but Balor blocks the popup powerbomb with a forearm and dropkick to send Owens packing.
