411’s WWE NXT Report 7.27.16

July 27, 2016 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Sorry about missing last week, I had major internet issues that didn’t get fixed until NXT was almost over. I’m back this week though!

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Wesley Blake

Our first time seeing Nakamura since defeating Finn Balor two weeks ago. The fans have taken to waving their arms back and forth while singing along to Nakamura’s theme. Blake has new music and gear. He is wearing trunks and his boots have tassels. They show footage of the team arguing earlier today. Blake believes he carried the team. Murphy says he’s going to beat a CWC favorite, Kota Ibushi tonight. Nakamura is his charismatic self, angering Blake. Blake applies a headlock but Nakamura gets free. Blake blows kisses at him. Nakamua catches both, says they small funny and stomps on them. I kid you not. He drops a knee and it’s good vibrations time in the corner. He does it twice for the fan’s sake. Blake hits a big clothesline for a one count. He gets the same after a knee drop. More headlock work from Blake before he gets one again on a back elbow. Blake mocks good vibrations, so Nakamura catches the foot and lights him up with strikes. He fires off some kicks and corner knee strikes. Nakamura hits the knee and reverse exploder. Kinshasa wins it.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura in 4:29

Nakamura always manages to make his squash matches fun. Only he could catch kisses, stomp on them and look cool while doing it.

Shinsuke Nakamura’s celebration is cut short by the arrival of NXT General Manager William Regal. He congratulates him and says that he hoped Samoa Joe would be there for this announcement. Regal announces that the main event of TakeOver: Brooklyn in August will see Joe defend the NXT Title against Nakamura.

Billie Kay vs. Santana Garrett

Billie’s theme rules. Santana’s sounds similar to Emma’s but with a violin. Billie takes Santana over quickly and commentary talks about Billie’s Smackdown appearance last month going to her head. Santana slides under Billie and dropkicks her. Billie takes to choking Santana in the corner with her boot. It looks good because her legs are really long. Unique suplex gets Billie two. Some big kicks from Billie before she works a neck wrench. Santana fights out and drives some shoulders into Billie. She fires off forearms and a headbutt before a handspring back elbow. Billie dodges a boot and hits a big one of her own.

Winner: Billie Kay in 3:06

I love me some Billie Kay. She should be a big part of the future of the NXT women’s division. Santana has potential as a babyface with fire.

A recap is shown of Bayley’s appearance at Battleground. William Regal is then in the back talking with Bayley. She says that he’s been there for all of her highs and lows and he knows that she’s ready. Bayley wants her rematch with Asuka and she wants it in Brooklyn, where she won the belt last year. Regal promises to talk to Asuka and if she, he’ll get a contract written up. Why does he need her okay but not Joe’s?

A strange video package aired. I honestly looked away thinking it was a commercial so I missed most of it. I would expect it’s for Ember Moon. Hopefully they air it again next week and I can go into more detail.

TM61 vs. Adrian Nails and Rob Ryzin

I’m not sure which jobber is which. Thorn begins, does some impressive stuf and tags Miller. Back suplex from Miller and Nails gets tagged and comes in with a nice plancha. I find out the dude competing now is Nails. He looks like Virgil in jeans. TM61 hit a moonsault and fist drop on him in stereo. He runs to tag Ryzin. Ryzan has a red rooster like red streak in his hair. He hits a backbreaker and works a chin lock.  Miller gets the tag and comes in hot. They finish Virgil off with Thunder Valley, which is a double team gorilla press slam variation.

Winners: TM61 in 3:04

Again, another fun squash. TM61 continue to impress.

We are taken back to Austin Aries’ attack on No Way Jose after they danced for a long time together. Their dancing together is still a highlight. Aries beat him down for a long time. Two weeks ago, an angry No Way Jose attacked Aries to gain some revenge.

A Hideo Itami return vignette is shown. He returns next week!

No Way Jose vs. Steve Cutler

Steve Cutler has been signed forever. He goes behind Jose early and Jose grinds and dances to escape. He also escapes a headlock but eats a kick and forearm. Jose seems to get angry and it is the same look he had against Aries. He fires up and lays into Cutler with shots. Jose nails a clothesline and hip toss into a suplex. He hits the fastball punch and half nelson slam for the win.

Winner: No Way Jose in 1:50ish (stopwatch issues)

It did the job of trying to showcase that Jose can get serious.

Jose speaks, saying that Aries took advantage of him trying to have a good time. Jose says that he turned a fiesta into a fight and Aries tuned into a coward. He’s gonna whoop Aries’ ass.

Buddy Murphy vs. Kota Ibushi

Murphy has apparently won the rights to keep their dubstep music and gimmick. The crowd reaction when Ibushi’s name appeared on screen was awesome. He gets shoulder blocked down twice. Murphy avoids a kick but gets dropkicked. Ibushi then hits a big kick and standing moonsault for two. Murphy goes outside and trips up Ibushi on the apron. Back inside, Murphy applies a lengthy headlock that Ibushi fights out of. Ibushi runs into boots and then Murhpy drives two knees onto him for a near fall. He talked smack to Kota, who caught his foot. he then fired off some sick sounding strikes and kicks before running into a huge big boot from Murphy. Ibushi then nearly murdered him with a kick and got two on a German. With Murphy down, Ibushi climbs up and misses a moonsault but lands on his feet. Murphy sends him into the turnbuckle face first and rolls him up for two. He goes for something in the corner, but Ibushi comes out carrying him for a sitout Last Ride that wins it.

Winner: Kota Ibushi in 5:20

This was a lot of fun. Murphy had his working boots on and the crowd was pumped for seeing Ibushi. Ibushi, as always, was awesome.

A pissed off Samoa Joe is heading towards the ring apparently.

Next week, Bobby Roode!

Samoa Joe comes down to the ring. He talks about Regal making him defend the title against Nakamura in Brooklyn.  He says that will not happen because Regal didn’t discuss it with him first. Joe calls Nakamura an undeserving contender because he hasn’t done what Joe did to earn the title. This brings out Regal himself.  Joe shouts at him because he had to jump through hoops for a shot but Nakamura doesn’t. He finds it disrespectful and wants them to find a deserving contender in the back. Someone he approves. Regal says that if Joe doesn’t want to defend against Nakamura, he’ll forfeit the title. Joe agrees to the match but calls it a mistake on Regal’s part. He decimated Regal’s golden boy Finn Balor and will do the same to Nakamura, especially if he sees him before Brooklyn. Nakamura’s music hits and he comes out onto the stage dancing. He acts like he’s looking through a telescope at Joe and shows no fear.
