411’s WWE NXT Report 9.28.16

September 28, 2016 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

The episode begins with William Regal in an empty NXT arena. He announces that sixteen teams will compete in this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The finals will take place at TakeOver: Toronto. The first round begins next week.

Tye Dillinger vs. Angelo Dawkins

Dawkins does the stirring gimmick a few times. Tye snapmares him, cartwheels and does the 10 stuff before doing his own mix it up taunt. Dawkins gets hype after a right jab even though one of his headbands fell off. Tye comes back with a loud chop and avoids a spinning splash in the corner. He lays in his own jab and chop before hitting a flying forearm. Tye hits the inverted atomic drop and a short arm clothesline which knocks off the other headband. Tye stomps on Angelo and the knee pad is down. He hits the Tye Breaker to win.

Winner: Tye Dillinger in 2:22

Standard squash match.

As Tye Dillinger is leaving, we hear “GLORIOUS!” Bobby Roode walks out and says that Tye Dillinger’s performance was simply impressive. He teased saying glorious though. He says that Tye isn’t quite a ten yet but has potential. Bobby says the main reason he came to NXT was to compete in and win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. He needs a partner. Not just any partner, but the perfect partner. Bobby says that them as the winners sounds perfectly glorious. Roode extends his hand and they shake on it.

Hideo Itami gets interviewed about facing Lince Dorado tonight. Itami is looking forward to it because Dorado has heart and is a great competitor. He brings up Austin Aries and calls him a baby who needs to go to sleep.

Non-Title Match: NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival vs. The Ealy Brothers

Samoa Joe walks past the Revival and just beats the shit out of the Ealy twins. BIG BOY SENTONS! The Revival zip up their jackets and walk off.

Joe gets on the mic and addresses William Regal. He calls the Ealy twins the first victims of Regal not making a decision. The beatings will continue until he gets either Nakamura or the NXT Title.

A vignette aired to hype the debut of Dan Matha. Next week!

Ember Moon vs. Mandy Rose

Mandy shoves Ember before the bell. Ember shoves back and Mandy gets in a kick. Ember counters a whip and hops over. Mandy catches Ember with a big right hand. Ember responds with kicks and a fallaway slam. Springboard cross body by Ember gets two. Mandy catches her with a kick and a running bicycle knee for two. She works a quick submission and gets in more shots while talking smack. “YOU’LL NEVER LOOK LIKE ME!” Moon rolls her up for two. Moon ducks a shot but gets caught with a big facebuster variation for two. She charges into the corner but Ember moves and sends her in. She hits the diving stunner for the win.

Winner: Ember Moon in 3:05

Fun little match here. Ember looked good as always but Mandy did well here. She’s already surpassed Eva Marie by a fair amount.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa get interviewed in the back about sending the Revival off in their fight after the CWC. Gargano says something is missing. They discuss the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. That’s how they made their debut last year but didn’t win. Their checklist begins with winning the tournament this year. Number two is to beat the Revival. Lastly, they earned their spot in NXT and they want to win the NXT Tag Team Titles.

Sanity vignette.

The Authors of Pain w/ Paul Ellering vs. Jobbers

One jobber gets backed into the corner and tossed across the ring. He gets squashed in the corner. Razar or however you spell it gets tagged and they drill knees into the jobber before hitting a double stomach breaker. Razar brings the other jobber in and press slams him back outside. The Russian leg sweep/clothesline combo ends it.

Winners: The Authors of Pain in 1:14

Exactly what it needed to be. I just wish we got some information on AOP. Ellering has been as quiet as his goons.

As I type that, Ellering got on the mic. He says the first chapter was the arrival but the next chapter is to unleash a plethora of pain. That is all we need to know for now.

In the back, William Regal was interviewed about the Nakamura/Joe situation. Regal has no update on Nakamura’s condition because it’s hard to get a hold of the NXT Champion. He is then asked about the Dusty Tag Team Classic teams. BAMF show up and want a spot even though they’re still arguing. Regal suggests they leave and sort things out.

Non-Title Match: NXT Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Liv Morgan

“Asuka’s gonna kill you” chants. They lock up and Asuka backs her to the corner. She gives a clean break and Liv shoves her. They lock up again and Liv nails a drop kick. Asuka no sells that and Liv’s strikes. Asuka knocks her down with one and catches her in a submission. Liv taps out.

Winner: Asuka in 0:54

Ha. Tremendous. Just what it needed to be too.

Asuka gets interviewed about who is next on her list. She yells that nobody is ready for Asuka.

Next week, the first Dusty Tag Classic match happens! The Revival go up against Cedric Alexander and Andrade Almas!

Hideo Itami vs. Lince Dorado

They shake hands at the start. They lock up and Itami applies a hammerlock. Dorado gets free but misses a move in the corner. Itami snapmares and tries a kick but Dorado avoids it and kips up. Dorado kicks him in the head but Itami comes back with the kitchen sink and a big boot. Itami drops a knee, removes the knee pad and does the “kicking dirt on my opponent” thing. He gets in some shots in the corner before going to the top. Dorado dropkicks him down to the outside. He follows with a baseball slide and Asai moonsault. Returning from break, Dorado works an arm submission. He gets up and sends Itami to the corner but runs into a boot. They flub Itami’s tornado DDT onto the top rope spot. He comes off the top and takes down Lince. Kicks by Itami and he lays in the strikes. Dorado avoids the hesitation dropkick and gets two on a rana. He hits a high knee and tries a handspring move but nearly gets caught in the GTS. Itami says it was “that close” but Dorado pulls him into several pinning attempts for two. SSP misses, opening the door for Itami. He hits a running big boot and the hesitation dropkick. Itami hits the GTS and that’s all.

Winner: Hideo Itami in 7:39

Fine little match here. Both guys got shine and had some good back and forth with the right man going over. Can’t ask for much more. **1/2

From out of nowhere, Austin Aries shows up and attacks Hideo itami. Itami ends up countering a whip and goes for a kick, but Aries exits the ring and heads up the ramp like he just won something.
