Samoa Joe Finn Balor Enzo Amore Colin Cassady NXT 93015

Hello all and welcome to another NXT Report!

We start by going right into a studio update for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. We see that Chad Gable and Jason Jordan advanced by beating the Hype Bros. They will face Baron Corbin and Rhyno at TakeOver. The Mechanics are also in the Semi-Finals and we’ll find out their opponents tonight.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic: Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore w/ Carmella vs. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe

Finn Balor’s entrance is slightly different. He has the jacket again and the pre-entrance theme music has changed as long as the tron saying Balor Club. Helps separate him from the “demon”. Cass and Joe start, with Joe hammering home punches. Cass doesn’t back down though and they trade blows to the outside. Enzo and Finn run in, where Enzo gets free from his grasp and hits a suicide dive on Joe. Finn flips over the top onto Cass right after, heading into a commercial. Returning, we get dueling tags to Joe and Cass. Cass surprisingly takes it to Joe, knowing him down and hitting a corner splash. He goes to come off the ropes but Finn kicks him and Joe gets two on an STO. Cass then hits both Joe and Finn with big boots. He gets two on the Empire Elbow. Cass hits the Bossman slam on Joe and tags Enzo, who climbs to the top. Air Enzo! Joe kicks out and gets to his feet while holding Enzo. Balor tags in and dropkicks Cass. Enzo eats a Muscle Buster and the Coup de Grace to end it.

Winners: Finn Balor and Samoa Joe in 4:15

I was hoping for a longer match. It was solid stuff, but it was too short to really be anything good. **

We get a backstage interview with Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa. They say that they exceeded a lot of expectations but they are disappointed in their loss. Gargano is facing his friend Apollo Crews tonight. Tyler Breeze comes up and says that if they are friends of Apollo, then they must be enemies of Tyler. he challenges Ciampa to a match.

An Asuka hype video is shown, with footage of her in Japan.

Apollo Crews vs. Johnny Gargano

They lock up and Crews shoulder blocks him down. Gargano rolls him up for tow. Gargano locks in a Koji Clutch in the corner, on the ropes. They go to work in the middle of the ring and Crews shows off his athleticism, leaping over Gargano and hitting a loud dropkick. Gargano rolls outside for a break and Crews leaps out to follow. Gargano gets in and Crews charges but Gargano hits a slingshot spear from the apron. Gargano moves to an abdominal stretch. rews gets out but Gargano rolls through on a kick to the head. He applies a front face lock but Crews gets out by powering to his feet and hitting a suplex. Crews hits a corner splash and a leaping clothesline. He then nails the gorilla press slam followed by the moonsault for the victory.

Winner: Apollo Crews in 4:06

Fine little match here. Johnny Gargano got to strut his stuff, while never making Apollo look bad. A very good four minute match. **1/2

Dana Brooke and Emma enter William Regal’s office. He invited them in because they embarrassed him by interrupting Asuka’s debut last week. He announces Dana Brooke vs. Asuka for next week at TakeOver. Dana isn’t scared and brags about what they did to Asuka last week. Regal shows them a video of some of Asuka’s offense. It sounds vicious and Dana and Emma begin to look incredibly worried. Emma taps her and says “good luck with that” before leaving.

The Nia Jax vignette is shown.

We are now shown the video that Dana Brooke watched, which featured Asuka destroying a punching bag.

Dana Brooke and Emma vs. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce

Dana and Peyton start things off. Peyton scores some quick near falls. She tags in Billie and they work a double team of kicks for two. Dana kicks Billie away and tags Emma. She runs into a headscissors from Billie, who then nails a stalling vertical suplex for another near fall. Billie hits Dana on the apron, which is the opening that Emma needed. She smashes her into the corner and Dana gets the tag, delivering kicks. They tag in and out, with Emma doing kicks as well. Dana beats on Billie for a short while, until tagging in Emma, who kicks Billie. As Billie gets near a tag, Emma taunts her and pulls her away. Emma works a body scissors but Billie gets free, but still can’t tag. Billie is whipped into the corner and gets an opening by elbowing Dana and taking out Emma with a big boot. The tags come and Peyton is hot, hitting a bunch of kicks. He just has multiple variations but when she goes up top, she just falls and Dana covers for two. Peyton nails a dropkick still, but only gets two. Billie runs in but Emma sends her out. Peyton dumps out Emma and gets behind Dana, but Emma trips her up. Dana nails her finish for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Dana Brooke and Emma in 6:46

This was seriously the longest match of the night so far? Glad that Billie and Peyton weren’t squashed and they looked pretty good, but the heat was increibly dull. *1/2

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are interviewed. Jason wants to go by JJ. Devin Taylor asks about them being the underdogs, which upsets Gable since he wrestled in the Olympics. They say that they have won a bunch of tournament finals in the past and they will do it again here. They expect to face Finn and Joe as when they mention the Mechanics, they say it isn’t likely. Before they get to the “ready, willing and Gable” part, the Mechanics interrupt. They blame JJ and Gable for the loss in Brooklyn and the teams argue as Devin walks off.

Tyler Breeze vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa takes down Breeze early, and Breeze goes to the corner for the break. He then trips up Ciampa and rolls him up for two. They work on the mat for a bit and it ends up with Tyler literally riding on Ciampa like a horse. Ciamp hits some loud chops and a running knee in the corner before a running punch. He removes his knee pad and hits a running knee for two. Breeze comes back with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Breeze wears down Ciampa with a front face lock. Ciampa fights out and hits some more strikes in the corner. He hits the ropes and a big boot that knocks Tyler down. Ciampa gets Breeze on the ropes, with his feet on the top and hits a flatliner type move. I don’t know the name. Ciampa gets a big near fall, but I missed the move as my stream cut out for a moment. Ciampa goes up top and fights Breeze away. He leaps but is met with a big dropkick for two. Breeze then hits the Unprettier for the victory.

Winner: Tyler Breeze in 7:44

Decent, but kind of dull. Tomasso Ciampa hasn’t impressed me nearly as much as Johnny Gargano has, despite being on the offensive for the majority of this match. It was kind of dull actually. **

Baron Corbin and Rhyno are interviewed and say they are unstoppable. Baron thinks the tournament is already over because they have it in the bag.

Both theme songs for TakeOver are by Bring Me The Horizon and I happen to really like both songs and their entire album actually.

The TakeOver: Respect card is run down.

A video package is aired to hype the Ironwoman match. It hows highlights from TakeOver: Brooklyn and how Bayley had her family there and what the match meant to her. They show the girls backstage and their emotions after the match. We see Sasha lay down the challenge. Then we see them training, set to “Throne” by Bring Me The Horizon.
