411’s WWE RAW Report 9.08.14

  • Welcome!

Harry here. Helping Tony out a bit.

Cold open into the steel cage hanging over the ring for Jericho-Wyatt tonight.

    Live in Baltimore, Maryland.

Video package for the season premiere of Raw. Springer hosts the Bella intervention. They hype Reign-Orton in the rematch from Summerslam. Switch focus to the reign of terror that Cena has been on but then we say that Heyman will have something to say. Finally, we touch on Jericho-Wyatt inside the cage.

The cage has lowered and it’s go time!

    Match 1: Steel Cage Match
    Chris Jericho vs Bray Wyatt

Wyatt is 1-0 on WWE TV in cage matches. Jericho has had his own success as well, winning a Heavyweight title from Batista. Wyatt enters the ring and we have a bell.

Match quickly degenerates to a brawl, and Wyatt takes over with a big shoulder tackle.

Jericho with a dropkick to turn the tide. Stomping away and going for the Walls early. Wyatt blocks, so Jericho uses a catapult to bring Wyatt into the ring rope. Wyatt tries to escape and Jericho with a clubbing blow. Wyatt stops that and lays in a series of shots as dueling Wyatt-Jericho chants. Jericho pops over a charging Wyatt in the corner, and then clocks him with a step-up enzugiri. Wyatt quickly regains the advantage and chokes Jericho over the ropes. Wyatt sends Jericho into the buckle and an avalanche in the corner lands for the “Eater of Worlds”. He waits too long to capitalize and Jericho fights back, making his way up to the buckle looking to escape the cage. Wyatt stops him and brings him back. Jericho with a boot to the face and a clubbing shot to the top of the head off the top rope. Jericho tries to charge Wyatt as he stands, but Wyatt reverses, sending Jericho into the cage. Another avalanche, this one against the cage and we go to break here.

One of the commercials was for The Blacklist. Great show. Back to Raw with Wyatt in control, hitting his mid-ring crossbody. Cover gets two. Back to the match, as Wyatt looks to exit. Jericho captures Wyatt and brings him down to the canvas in the electric chair. Both men down and make their way back up. Strikes exchanged and Jericho with the advantage. Jericho with the running forearm and then the bulldog. Jericho then gets the Lionsault. Waits for Wyatt to get up and sweeps the legs, looking for the Walls, but Wyatt out. Jericho makes good though by sending Wyatt into the cage. Jericho with his springboard dropkick with Wyatt caught on the apron. Nice. Jericho goes to climb out, but Wyatt chases, pulling Jericho down to the top rope. Headbutts by Wyatt gain him control and he tries a superplex. Jericho tries to block but is unsuccessful as Wyatt brings him over with the superplex. SPIDER WALK~!!! towards the cage door, but Jericho grabs the foot. Jericho goes for the Walls again, but Wyatt out sending Jericho back of the head first into the cage. Urinage mid-ring gets two for Wyatt. Wyat goes to bring Jericho to his feet, pausing to taunt the crowd. Wyatt tries a catapult, but Jericho lands on his feet on the second buckle and tries to climb. Wyatt brings Jericho down, but Jericho then comes back over. A series of shots to Wyatt by Jericho and Y2J brings Wyatt to the canvas with a top-rope ‘rana. Jericho climbs the cage and looks to go down but gets surrounded by Harper and Rowan. Jericho stands on the top of the cage and with a shrug, comes off with a HUGE CROSSBODY ONTO WYATT!

Jericho favoring the knee as the crowd goes crazy. Jericho’s nose is bleeding too. Jericho tries to crawl towards the door. Wyatt tries another avalanche but Jericho ducks and Wyatt into the cage. Jericho tries to get out and Wyatt stops him. Jericho again tries to escape but Wyatt attacks the knee!
Both men brawling on the ring steps with feet inside the cage. Wyatt gets the advantage by attacking the knee and Wyatt crawls out over Jericho, falling to the floor for the win!
    Official Result: Bray Wyatt
Excellent blow-off to the feud which to this point had to have been considered a disappointment
    RATING: ***1/2

Immediately after the match, Wyatt attacks the knee of Jericho. Wyatt lifts him up and asks the crowd if this is our hero. Wyatt sends Jericho into the steps then back int the ring a bit. He attacks the knee again. Wyatt walks back into the ring, and Harper closes the door of the cage. Wyatt heads to the corner to hang around a bit. Wyatt grabs the prone Jericho and hits Sister Abigail.

Backstage, Kane and Rollins celebrate the cage match. Triple H shows up and congratulates Kane on the match. Triple H says that he wants Orton to do something people will talk about. Orton shows up and says that only one of them is in the main event and that with Triple H’s permission, he wants to do something to Reigns that will make what Rollins did to Ambrose look like Sunday school. Triple H says “in that case, you have my permission” and we go to break.

Big Poppa Tony is back! Thank you Harry!

    AJ, where are ya?!

Back to the show with yours truly, and Dolph is wearing black on black…what a crime. He says last week, several celebrities had their personal devices hacked and a lot of pics were leaked online. This kind of invasion of privacy is reprehensible. No one deserves to be disrespected…I sense Photoshop Phun….

Ziggler says maybe one D-List celebrity can be embarrassed by photos, and Miz just happens to have some. Ugh…..come on, guys.

Ziggler shows a photo of Miz with a face mask in underwear and a hair net. The next photo is Miz shaving his pectoral region. These photos are over the shoulder and have some great professional lighting. Ziggler has one more that will “take the cake.” Apparently, the cake will not be taken, as The Miz is here with a scowl and a Sandow.

This is an outrageous invasion of his privacy, so says Miz. Ziggler is invading the sanctity of his home. The photos were for medical purposes only…Miz’s people will sue Ziggler, his people, everyone in this building, and everyone all over the world if they try to republish said photos.

Truly, the only great part about this is Sandow mocking Miz’s hand gestures and movements almost move for move. It’s fucking beautiful. Miz threatens that Ziggler will never work in this town again, if he takes this any further. We then get a blurred photo of Miz getting spray tanned by Damien Sandow.

Sandow attacks, but Dolph hits a dropkick as Miz exits the ring. Ziggler calls for Miz to enter, then Zig Zags Sandow. Miz tries to attack, but thinks better of it.

    Thoughts, AJ?

Back to the show, and Nattie is with Rosa in the ring. The music of the goddess hits! AJ!! She’s here. She’s looking all kinds of lovely, and it looks like we are, unfortunately, tying in the Paige/AJ storyline into the Total Divas storylines and I hate it. I hate it so much.

Match 2: AJ lee and Paige vs Natalya and Rosa Mendes

AJ and Paige do some bowing to each other. Paige and Nattie starts. Nattie with a headlock takedown. Paige with the scissors. Nattie kips out of it. Paige grabs the arm, but Nattie flips out of it wonderfully. Nattie gets Paige in the corner then tags in Rosa. A double suplex by the ladies onto Paige. Pin for 1. Paige kicks out and slaps Rosa hard. Headbutt to Paige. Paige pretends to tag in AJ, then just attacks Rosa’s back. She does it again. Body slam to Rosa. Missed leg drop by Paige. Rosa reaches for a tag. She is close, but doesn’t tag Natti in. She goes to attack Paige, but Paige with a kick to the gut. She sends Rosa over the middle rope then drives some knees into her silicone. Paige bends over right in front of AJ.
AJ pulls Paige’s hair and tags the chest of Paige, thereby becoming the legal woman. She heads into the ring and locks in the Black Widow. Rosa taps. AJ didn’t even have to break a sweat.
Official Result: AJ Lee and Paige
Nattie and Paige had a great exchange.
    RATING: *

When the fuck did the triple threat get booked? ew.

Paige screams at AJ so AJ grabs the title. She gives it a kiss. Paige acts like AJ kissed her boyfriend, but that’s dumb cuz AJ would only ever kiss me. Paige decides to one-up AJ and make out with the title, including a bit more tongue. AJ looks annoyed…then smiles, and skips out of the ring and to the back.

Backstage, Jericho is with the docs. He’s asking if it pops. The doc goes to grab something, and out of nowhere, Orton attacks Jericho! Orton sends Jericho flying into those dastardly black boxes, knee first! Orton over Jericho: “Sorry Chris, what can I say; it’s the Season Premiere.”

    Oh, fuck you….

    -Commercial Break-

We return to the show after a recap of what we just saw, and Paul Heyman is in the ring. He paraphrases the bible like a good Jew does, and calls himself the advocate of Brock Lesnar. He has been authorized to deciminate some confidential information, and he wants to deliver the warning as if he was up in the face of John Cena. All up in the grill, y’all. Cena, ever the crowd-pleaser, heads out to interrupt. Cena is here to answer the call. He’s right here. This is why he always tells Brock that before Summerslam, Cena was the greatest WWE Champ of all time. It takes a special kind of man to be confronted by the truth. He must admit candidly that Cena would come out, and Brock has authorized Heyman to drop the warning and give Cena some inside information. He is here to tell Cena how to beat Brock Lesnar at NOC. Cena claims that he knows how already, and he has no secret stragedy. Brock beat Taker, and we haven’t heard from him in 6 months. He beats Cena, and a week later, Cena says let’s go again…

    NEVER GIVE UP

That’s Cena’s motto. This is his playbook, and he doubts Brock could read it. He hands over the towel. Did he just make fun of Floyd Mayweather? Heyman laughs, saying Cena can’t help but be John Cena. This is Cena’s biggest problem, says Heyman. He lives for the kid that waits for the opportunity to come LIVE and chant LET’S GO CENA! Brock doesn’t hear anyone but three people, though. The Ref, Heyman, and the suffering of his victims. Heyman is here to give a gift. He’s here to tell Cena how to beat Brock, and it’s simple – GIVE IN. So….the exact opposite of how Cena claims he’s going to beat Brock. Heyman says Cena Sucks like 30-million times. He says it’s one thing if someone like Heyman says it, but what happens when the fans say it – when the big, fat, ugly, unemployed guy in the sixth row says CENA SUCKS? Doesn’t Cena want – just once – to turn to that guy and say SHUT UP!? Just once? Heyman can help him. They say Cena Sucks, and Cena says to “Shut up!” He tries to goad Cena into putting the crowd into their place. Heyman looks out towards the crowd:

“yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. You scream Cena sucks, like Sixth row is your safe-haven
you’re getting punked out in your hometown like the Baltimore Ravens!”

ONE TIME, screams Heyman. Let it go! Give in! You don’t need to sell your soul to the devil, the devil sold his soul to me a long time ago…woooooow!!!

Heyman tells Cena to lose the entire concept of Cena. Drop the wristbands and colors and shit, and then he can beat Brock…or he can just be a victim. Brock doesn’t mind Heyman telling Cena this, because Heyman believes in John Cena….Brock, however, says Cena just doesn’t have it in him.

Cena sits on the ropes. He steps back into the ring with a contemplative face as the crowd chants “Let’s Go Cena/Cena Sucks”

Cena runs up to Paul Heyman, and tells HIM to shut up. He sees exactly what Heyman is trying to do. Brock wants to end Cena, and so does Heyman. oooooo

    DENZEL VOICE!!!!!

Cena claims he isn’t turning his back on people who believe in him. In Heyman’s world, it’s easy. For what? To pop the crowd? To pop wife-beater wearers? Only for those guys to run to the internet and talk about how much he sucks? Heyman lives in a world that is eat, sleep, conquer, repeat – a shark infested world where only the strong survive where even if he could get ahead by stabbing Brock in the back, he would do it in a second. He calls Heyman smart but says he has not idea what he is talking about. In Cena’s world, Be John Cena, Repeat is his rulebook. Why? Because that’s who he is. Because he was born this way, and he doesn’t want to change even if he could. There are some folks, including Heyman, that don’t see. He lieks being the guy that gets a kid to do homework early to get to RAW on time.

    Homework?! TERRY?!

John Cena doesn’t mind being the guy that hears the father say “Cena Sucks” only to tell him thanks later that night. And he loves being the guy – when a child is asked for ONE wish – their answer is to be with John Cena for the day. He is damned proud to be the guy who is fortunate enough to meet veterans. And because of all this, on a random Friday night, he gets to meet HIS hero, and the first thing that man says is that when he looked to his leg that was gone, Cena gave him the strength. A Purple Heart recipient gives Cena the ONE reward he received, all because Cena believes. THAT’S why all he knows is Eat, Sleep, Be John Cena.

In walks an advocate like Heyman, who wants him to strip it all away? For What? To win a match? If he strips it away, what did he really win? Cena is done talking – it’s time to fight. Heyman should love this moment – this is rage, fury, and when Cena can take that pudgy face and pound it into clay. Cena will give Heyman 7 days. Bring the beast. But if Brock decides not to show up, Cena will fight…Heyman.

Rusev is here, Lana is following close by. Most Americans do not know that the National Anthem was written in this decrepid city (Baltimore). USA Chant. Lana sings the National Anthem. haha. “Everyone stood in awe of Russian Rusev’s Might” is a lyric change I didn’t anticipate. She laughs it off, then says this is the REAL NATIONAL ANTHEM, and the Russian Anthem plays. As far as anthems go, it’s pretty solid. JBL isn’t a fan. He is so angry he throws a pencil.

Being the best “Reality TV Show” is like being the smartest sloth…

Stephanie McMahon is here, says it’s great to be back in Baltimore. In all seriousness, it breaks her heart to see a family ripped apart like the Bellas have been. She wrestled her father in this very building about 10 years ago. They have since reconciled, and the lesson she has learned is that there is nothing more important than family. She could only think of one man to do just that. The crowd chants for Larry. Csonka is a definite family man, but I don’t think he can help The Bellas…

My mistake, Jerry Springer is here. He brought his security guard, Jason. What happened to Steve?

Springer is here. He has been dealing with family dysfunction for the last 24 years of his show. When he heard about what was going on with Brie and Nikki, he asked why would he say no. Jerry introduces Brie first, who has new music.

Jerry says, after video evidence, she attacked Nikki and snapped, but the very next day she apologizes? Why is she apologizing? Jerry wants to know. Brie doesn’t forgive Nikki, but she is her sister. She just knows she shouldn’t have stooped down to Nikki’s level. Jerry says that Brie must think she’s better than Nikki…

Brie says WOMB loudly. Nikki Bella is here in red. She extends a hand for Brie to shake, and Brie shakes it. Nikki doesn’t know what Jerry thought would happen – she did accept Brie’s apology but doesn’t forgive her for treating Nikki like a second class sister. Nikki is ready to move on. She is a sophisticated, intelligent, and classy woman. The third season of HER show premiered last night, and she has a Divas Championship match in two weeks. Honestly, Jerry, Nikki couldn’t be happier and that’s last why she is not going to let Brie’s negativity bring her down. Nikki feels sorry for Brie. Jerry repeats her. Brie says that Summerslam happened, but Jerry says this all happened long before Summerslam.

We get a preview of Total Divas, SEASON 1!!! A lot of clips showing Brie being a bit snooty, and Nikki being a bit…Nikki.

Nikki asks if Jerry can see what she has been through? Nikki blames their father ditching them on Brie. She wouldn’t stick around either if Brie wasn’t so attention-seeking.

Holy fuck, Jerry found their Dad! hahahaha. He says this whole thing is breaking his heart, and it needs to be fixed. We have the mom here, too!! She says that she’s having a really hard time understanding what’s going on right now and need them to make it right. They have a bond no one could break. She also apologizes to Nikki for making her feel like she was in Brie’s shadow. She tells Brie – the responsible one, the mature one to be the bigger person.

Brie says that no matter what mom and dad said, Nikki broke her heart and stuff. She says that at least she has JJ in her corner. JJ is their brother. Jerry has him in the arena! JJ comes down wearing Dolph’s throwaway outfit. JJ says that Nikki needs to stop acting like the victim. Nikki screams that she IS the victim! They drop mics and are about to fight. Jerry is in the middle of them. They rumble around Jerry. JJ holds Brie down, and Nikki slaps him on accident. Brie with a spear. The roll, all over Jerry, apparently. Stephanie enters the ring and looks to pull the ladies off, but she gets tripped up into it all as well. Stephanie tosses Brie back. Brie stands, and Nikki spears her down. They rumble a bit more, then make their way to Jerry to roll over him again. Refs are here to break it up. The security that Jerry had FINALLY enters the ring. Brie is held back. Nikki makes her way up the ramp first then heads to the back. Jerry gets the medical treatment, but looks to be smiling about it all.

Jerry gets the stretcher job. He throws his thumb up, and it’s super crooked…

Goldy and Cody are introduced as, “Gold and Stardust.” You do know that, grammatically, that’s incorrect, right, WWE?

Match 5: Los Matadores vs Goldust and Stardust

Cody and Matador 1 to start. Lockup. Cody with the side headlock into a right hand. Stardust sent into the corner, but it’s reversed and Cody gets sent instead. Kick to Cody. A whip into the corner is short lived as Cody is hit with a hard clothesline. Tag to Matador 2 and he comes in with a front flip onto Cody and a pin for 1..NO! Cody backs his opponent into the corner and Goldust gets a blind tag. Goldust is in with the rights but he gets sent into th corner then the opposite with a hurricanrana. Cody is in, and is met with one of his own from one of the Matadores. Both Matadores are in the ring. Double suicide dive from both onto Goldust.

Cody pulls the leg of one, sending him to the mat, as Goldust tosses the other backfirst into the corner. Goldust sends one right into Cody, who hits Dark Matter.
    Official Result: Goldust and Stardust
Short and meaningless, other than to keep the story going.
    RATING: *

As Goldust and Stardust celebrate atop the ramp, they are attacked by The Usos. They send the message, as Goldust and Stardust head out via the side of the stage.

Super Serious Moment here, as WWE gives their condolences to Joan Rivers, and even has a tribute video for her.

Match 6: Adam Rose vs Titus O’Neil

Titus is quick to send Rose into the corner, hard, and drops some kicks. He tosses Adam Rose with one hand across the damned ring. The bunny is nearby the ring, playing cheerleader. Whip to the ropes, but Rose hits a kick. Rose hits the ropes again, but Titus catches him and tosses him to the side. Titus Bark. The bunny distracts, and he gives the ol Bugs Bunny “Why I oughta.” Heath Slater hops off of the steps and looks for a crossbody, but The Bunny moves! Heath stands, and The Bunny Superkicks Heath Slater!

In the ring, Rose uses the distraction to give Titus the Party Foul. Pin for 1…2….3!!
    Official Result: Adam Rose

    RATING: *

After the match, Rose invites the bunny in for a Frog Splash….but he’s a bunny…

We are backstage, and Roman Reigns is here with Renee Young. She wants to know what Roman thinks Randy meant. Reigns says he doesn’t know. He does know that Orton is the Viper, and he’s got venom, but he’s got the antidote.
