Welcome to 411’s WWE Smackdown Report 10.17.14

* Seth Rollins kicks off the show for tonight’s opening talky segment. He gets the you sold out chants, so he discusses that when you’re young and naïve your principles mean the world to you, but the one thing that people tend to forget is that honor doesn’t pay the bills. He said that the crowd should be like him and sell their souls to do so. Selling out is the best thing that you can do in life, for him, it led to him becoming the future of the WWE. He then discussed Hell in a Cell, noting that Ambrose didn’t belong there, but instead belonged in a straightjacket. He’ll let Ambrose walk into Hell in a Cell, but he will left him lying in a pile at the end of the night. Dolph Ziggler then came out. Don’t do it Dolph, go to the back, this cannot end well. We saw the replay of Rollins curb stomping Ziggler on Raw. Ziggler said that when you sellout for fame and money, you are left without self-respect. And self-respect is priceless. Rollins said that self-respect and showing off won’t help Ziggler tonight, but then Ziggler dropkicked him. The ref was able to get them separated, and now we begin our opening match…

Off the ropes, Ziggler sidesteps and sends Rollins to the floor. Rollins “tweaks” his knee and Ziggler attacks and slams him to the barricade. He tries to work the knee off the post, but Rollins pulls Ziggler into the post instead. Back into the ring they go, Rollins up top but Ziggler is able to run up and get the super X-Factor! Ziggler covers for 2 as we head to a commercial…

Both try to get to their feet, they do, Rollins counters the zigzag, Ziggler avoids the curb stomp and gets a sunset flip for 2. Rollins then muscles Ziggler up ad hits the buckle bomb and curb stomp and that is all.

He discussed growing up as a giant, and said that with great power came great responsibility. People always expected great things from him, and that is why he is prepared to be the one that pins Rusev at the Hell in a Cell PPV. He then brought up Mark Henry and that Henry got emotional and cost him a match on Monday. He invited Henry out, he came to the ring, and Show wanted to talk man-to-man, and friend-to-friend. They did some joking about Henry smelling good and then told a Waffle House story and said that they are like family, they basically tried to set up that they are super good friends to get you invested in the Mark Henry heel turn that coming. Show said that his heart was with Henry when he battled Rusev, and he respected Henry when he told Show he had to do it alone. He asks for that same respect, he asks Henry to let him fight this fight on his own. Henry warned Show that Rusev is a beast, but agreed to let him fight on his own. As they hugged, Rusev and Lana came out to ruin the moment. She referred to the duo as the Goodyear Blimps of the WWE, slow and gassy. Rusev said that he will defeat Show at Hell in a Cell and that the people will turn their backs on him, just like they did at Henry.
