Welcome to 411’s WWE Smackdown Report 7.23.15

* We get highlights from Raw.

* Ambrose came out, and then Sheamus followed. Sheamus cuts a short promo, saying that he doesn’t think that Ambrose is courageous, eh thinks he’s simply reckless. Tonight there is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, and he will kick Ambrose’s ass tonight. Ambrose started to talk, noting that Sheamus does look stupid. Short and we’re into the match.

Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus: Lock up to begin, Sheamus takes Ambrose to the corner and then they separate. To the mat they go, Ambrose looks to take control and Sheamus then rolls to the floor. Back in and Sheamus with the boot to the gut, and then follows with clubbing strikes. Ambrose then battles back and then connects with the dropkick in the ropes. He then clotheslines Sheamus to the floor. He looked for a dive, but Sheamus clocked him with a forearm and then beat him down on the apron. Ambrose is able to battle back and hits a tornado DDT to the floor as we head to a commercial…

Back from commercial as they fight in the ropes. Ambrose knocks Sheamus down, but Sheamus bounces back and kicks Ambrose to the mat, and Ambrose starts to favor his knee. Sheamus then slams Ambrose into the ropes, and is targeting the knee. Sheamus then works a stump puller, continuing his focus on the injured leg of Ambrose. Ambrose tries to fight out, but Sheamus powerbombs him to the mat and then applies the half crab. Ambrose is able to kick his way out, and then hits the jawbreaker lariat and both men are down. Ambrose tries to get to his feet; they trade rights and then repeated jabs by Ambrose. Running clotheslines follow and then Sheamus counters he bulldog, but Ambrose with a roll up for 2. Ambrose avoids the brogue kick and Sheamus flies to the floor. Suicide dive by Ambrose connects, and he then rolls Sheamus back in and heads up top. Wacky elbow drop connect, but then Bray Wyatt’s music hits. Bray makes his way out, but it was just to distract Ambrose, as Harper appeared on the announce table. Sheamus went to attack Harper, but ate a brogue kick on the floor. Sheamus rolled him back in and then hit another brogue kick to finish off Ambrose.

* Commentary discusses the feud between Neville and Stardust.

* JoJo interviews Neville backstage. Neville says Stardust is unlike anything he has encountered, and is a nut. He doesn’t see Stardust as a villain, he sees his as a coward. So when he sees him next in the ring, he will prove that the altitude era is real. Stardust then appears on the screen and cuts a wacky promo.

Neville vs. Adam Rose: Lock up to begin, Rose tries to work the arm but Neville flips out and then he works the arm of Rose. Rose pulls the hair to escape and then lays the boots to Neville in the corner. Rose continues to beat down Neville, and then hits a snap suplex and counters for 2. Rose works the chinlock now, Neville gets to his feet and escapes. To the corner and a back elbow by Rose, and then hits a RANA off of the second rope, sending Neville to the floor. Rose looks for a dive, but Neville cuts him off. Spinkicks by Neville, and then the flying forearm connects. Neville is sent to the apron, but then lands a kick and sends Rose to the floor. Big moonsault by Neville connects. He rolls Rose back in, red arrow connects and that is all.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Neville @ 3:10 via pin

* Stardust appears on the big screen and mocks the hero for his victory. He says that even the sharpest arrows, no matter the color, come crashing down and that stars are eternal. “My hand is touching you hand, be my hero”. Neville looks completely confused here.

* We get a Sasha Banks video package. They need to do more of this.

* King Barrett is out, and says that on Sunday he took care of R Truth and became the greatest king of WWE. He defeated three top stars in less than 24 hours to win the KOTR. He proved what happens when you try to mock him when he defeated Truth. If you want his crown, you better hit him between the eyes, because you will not get a second chance. All hail King Barrett.

* Before his match, Owens cut a promo saying that he gave John Cena the toughest fight of his career. He doesn’t have a problem looking in the mirror, because he believes in living to fight another day and that is what he did on Sunday. You can chant about him tapping all you want, he has a family to take care of and was not going to risk a career ending injury at the hands of John Cena. He always does what is best for his career, and he did the same on Raw this Monday. Once Sheamus left the team on Raw, he knew he had to bail and not fight three top WWE stars. Rusev would understand if he wasn’t too busy trying to decide which Lana he wanted.

Kevin Owens vs. Rusev w/Summer: Rusev rushed the ring and here we go. He beats down Owens, and then we head to a commercial.

Back from commercial as Owens works over Rusev in the corner. Rusev then fights back and hits a suplex and covers for 1. Owens then took back control and laid in rights to Rusev. Owens tried for a German, Rusev countered and then hit the sack of shit slam on Owens. Rusev charged and missed the corner splash, leading to Owens hitting a superkick and then the cannonball in the corner. Owens covers for 2. More rights by Owens, and then a clothesline follows; the cover gets 2. Owens works the chinlock, trying to keep Rusev grounded. Rusev fights to his feet, and then Owens connects with the lung blower and covers for 2. Back to the chinlock for Owens, Rusev again gets to his feet and Owens follows with rights. Rusev then fires back, and then lands a kick, dropping Owens to the mat. Boot by Rusev, and then the back suplex connects. Rusev fires up, but runs into a back elbow. Owens off the ropes and Rusev hits the spin wheel kick. Rusev sets in the corner, and connects with the leaping superkick. He looks for the accolade, but Owens bails to the floor and then decides that he’s had enough and takes the count out loss.

* Cesaro cuts a promo backstage. He says he’s worked hard to get here, and made a lot of sacrifices because he loves the business. Tonight he faces Rollins, and he knows that success doesn’t happen over night. He hopes to prove that hard work pays off and that the American Dream is real. Owens appears to mock him a bit, and reminds Cesaro that he defeated Cena. He’s done more in one night than Cesaro has in his whole career. Cesaro calls him out for walking out on his matches and asks if he just came from catering. Cesaro tells him to do what he does best, “walk Owens walk.”

The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki) w/Alicia Fox vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi w/Tamina: Nikki and Naomi to begin. Lock up, Nikki with the takedown and into a cover for 1. Nikki then works the arm, taking Naomi to the mat. Naomi escapes and takes Nikki down and hits a sliding clothesline. It doesn’t last long as Nikki tags in Brie, and they double-team Naomi and the cover gets 2. Naomi slams her to the corner and tags in Sasha. Brie cuts her off right away and tags in Nikki, who gets a basement dropkick and cover for 2. She then works a head scissors with pushups, and then continues the hold. Sasha to her feet, tag to Brie who hits a second rope dropkick and covers for 2. Brie then tries the charging knee, but Tamina pulls Sasha to the floor. Tamina then hits a superkick on Brie, allowing Sasha to take over. We head to a commercial…

Back from commercial as Naomi lays the boots to Brie. Naomi slams Brie to the mat, connects with the leg drop and the cover gets 2. Bulldog to the corner by Naomi, tag to Sasha and she then slams Brie to the corner and lands the repeats short kicks to the face. Sasha then gets the double knees to the gut on Brie, and sends Nikki to the floor. Naomi tags in and hits a suplex, and the cover gets 2. Chinlock by Naomi follows, Brie escapes but then eats a back elbow from Naomi. Tag to Sasha, full nelson bomb by Naomi and Sasha covers for 2. Sasha works the necktie now, keeping control over Brie. Brie escapes, but Sasha stops the tag, slams Brie to the corner and tags in Naomi. Strikes by Naomi and then back to the chinlock. Brie gets to her feet, escapes and then a corner splash by Naomi follows. Brie then manages to send Naomi to the floor, and looks for the tag. Tamina rolls Naomi back in but Nikki gets the tag. She runs wild, knocks Sasha to the floor and then gets the Alabama slam on Naomi and covers for 2. Rack attack try, but Sasha breaks that up. Brie rushes in to take her out as they roll to the floor. Tamina gets involved and that leads to Brie and Fox taking her out. Nikki avoids the rear view and then hits the forearm. Rack attack finishes it.

* We get highlights of the Undertaker vs. Lesnar brawl from Raw.

* We get highlights of the Cena/Rollins segment from Raw.

Non-Title Match: Champion Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro: Cesaro looks to attack at the bell, but Rollins bails to the floor right away. Rollins back in and Cesaro with a roll up for 1. Rollins then works the arm, but Cesaro rolls out and counters into a cover for 1. Press slam by Cesaro follows, but misses the corner uppercut and then Rollins sends him to the floor and then hits the suicide dive. We head to a commercial…

Back from commercial as Rollins works a chinlock and leg scissors. Cesaro uses his freak strength to escape, but Rollins slams him to the corner and then hits a clothesline and covers for 2. Back to the chinlock we go. Cesaro again uses his power to escape with a backdrop suplex and both men are down. Rollins misses a charge, but then heads up top. He misses the knee strike and Cesaro then hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Running uppercuts by Cesaro follow, and then some regular stiff ass uppercuts connect. Rollins tries a sunset flip, but Cesaro muscle him up into a suplex and covers for 2. Cesaro then tries for the sharp shooter, Rollins counters, but then Cesaro hits the double stomp and covers for 2. Cesaro to the apron, fights off Rollins, up top and then hits a high cross, but Rollins rolls through and covers for 2. backslide by Rollins gets 2. Superkick to Cesaro, and that gets 2. Rollins gets to his feet, looks for the buckle bomb by Cesaro fights it off. Knees by Rollins, buckle bomb try again but Cesaro escapes and hits a running dropkick. Rollins to the apron now, Cesaro follows and climbs the ropes and tries the dead lift superplex, but Rollins counters with knee strikes. Rollins then hits the buckle bomb. Tries the pedigree, but Cesaro counters into the sharp shooter. Rollins tries for the ropes, so Cesaro transitions into a cross face. Rollins struggle for the ropes, but Cesaro transitions again, Rollins out and hits the enziguri. Off the ropes and Cesaro murders him with the toss up uppercut, and that gets a close 2. Both men are down, and then Rollins rolls to the floor and grabs the belt, looking to leave. Cesaro says fuck that and chases him and levels him with an uppercut. Back in the ring and a boot to the face, and then as the ref tries to get the belt out of the ring, Rollins pokes Cesaro in the eye and posts him. The pedigree connects and that is all.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Seth Rollins @ 11:40 via pin

* Post match Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring. Owens starts laying in rights to Cesaro, and then hits the popup powerbomb and stands tall to end the show.
