411’s WWE Table for 3: Team Credgely Report

-Original air date: May 25, 2016

-Greatness here as they have reunited the awesome trio of Edge, Christian, and Mick Foley. For those not aware these 3 churned some amazing wrestling comedy in the early 2000s. Back then Foley was the GM of RAW and Edge and Christian were coming into their own with off-beat shenanigans and kazoos. This reunion should be fantastic.

-Edge says they don’t need the initial awkward banter like other episodes, but Christian thinks they need it so they fake catching up after not seeing each other for about 6 minutes. They all high five each other for being able to pull it off.

-Foley brings up his DVD release and Edge’s before asking Christian if he has one yet. Ouch! Christian says that his goal is to wrestle long enough to not get a DVD retrospective (guess they are all forgetting his TNA DVD). They all talk about how much fun they had working together and Christian says they were just trying to make the other guys laugh.

-Edge is sporting his Hogan inspired “Sodas Still Rule” shirt and they all admit some probably won’t get the reference. They cover it for those watching who have no clue. It was during their second run as Tag Champs and Edge and Christian were looking for their own private dressing room. They sent Mick to get them sodas and when he came back he started sing to them “Mick just got your so-das.” and they all start laughing again.

-They all knew there was a time to be serious, but they just wanted to have fun. They played an important role because not everyone wanted to be Stone Cold and they needed variety. Mick knew very quickly that Edge and Christian were guys he could play off of for comedic value.

-They bring up Kurt Angle and how nobody knew he had the comedic chops like he did. Edge and Christian put over the greatness of Angle and how he played his role perfectly. They credit him for taking things to a new level.

-Edge brings up the chicken suit angle and how he still laughs at getting an Olympic Gold Medalist to wear a chicken suit. The story was that Christian was trying to lose weight to get under the limit to compete for the Cruiserweight Title. Foley told him that Angle had worn the suit so an inspired Christian does a workout while wearing it and loses the weight. Angle then comes up for the payoff line as he looks at Christian and says “that’s my chicken suit.” Fun stuff!

-Edge tries to tell another story and Foley has to spit out his fake bottom teeth so he can eat his meal. That breaks Edge as he starts laughing while Christian completely missed it. Edge gets back on track as he is proud that the stuff they all did together can be shown to children. They were able to provide some levity during The Attitude Era. It was so natural for them that they picked up where they left off when Foley came on Edge and Christian’s WWE Network show.

-They talk about Christian annoying people in music stores as he plays the Beverly Hills Cop on every keyboard. Edge says that is the reason he calls Christian a dick because he loves to annoy people.

-Foley brings up Austin giving Christian the CLB moniker which of course stood for Creepy Little Bastard. Edge mentions that Austin and Christian have a weird relationship and the “What” stuff started on a voice message to Christian. When he dropped it on TV for the first time, Christian was backstage and couldn’t believe Austin was 1) doing it and 2) getting it over.

-Foley puts him bottom teeth back in and gives a thumbs up as he says “Thanks Undertaker.”

-They cover the angle were they pretended to get genital warts to get out of a match and they celebrate by saying “genital warts rule,” and Foley shoots back that they don’t rule and are quite painful. They also tried getting out of a match against the APA by having Christian fake being sick, but Foley busted him.

-We jump to TLC and Foley says it started the year before in the ladder match with The Hardys. When they came through the curtain Foley was the first one to tell them how great they did.

-Edge says that they were supposed to split at Mania 2000, but they both felt they had more to do as a team. Right before Mania they finally let them speak on commentary and they were so funny the WWE decided to keep them together and gave them their first title win at Mania.

-Christian talks about trying to memorize everything for a promo and he went completely blank on a live edition of RAW. They show the promo and it is quite awesome as he just says whatever comes off the top of his head and Vince told him how great it was. Christian was shocked, but Vince told him that since he was a heel he could do whatever he wanted because being a babyface was the kiss of death for things likes that.

-Foley talks about coming back to be a guest GM and he only had 2 lines and completely forgot them. He actually had to go over to Marty and ask him what he was supposed to say, and it was “It’s great to be here right in Baltimore, Maryland.” Foley blames it all on a complete lack of confidence as he was embarrassed by how he looked.

-They talk about wrestling gear and Foley says he switched to sweat pants from spandex when he started seeing Big Show like cottage cheese hanging from his ass.

-They talk about how none of them were viewed as championship contenders. Foley was told he could be a mid level heel and that was great to him. Christian thought he may get fired within a few weeks. He brings up how they got an education from Gangrel.

-Foley says he loved them in the Brood as you could see the star potential and then they just took off with the 5 Second Poses and such. Edge says none of them fit the mold and that is what we are getting today as more guys don’t have ideal look of what people expect from a wrestler.

-Next they have a discussion about Foley’s fanny pack and inside he has some reading glasses, and a duct taped Dude Love wallet. Christian jokes that the wallet is probably duct taped closed due to being so tight with his money. Edge gives Foley props for keeping the fanny pack tradition alive. Foley says he went 10 years without the pack as it was Hayes and the “late Al Snow” that kept it alive. Ha! Christian reminds him that Al is still alive, but Edge says that his career isn’t. Wow! That gets a laugh out of all 3 and Foley thinks that is a great way to end the show.

-Tremendously fun stuff here as they covered a lot of the things they did in 2000 and how great the chemistry was between the 3 of them. Foley took the lead on the discussion as the elder statesman, and he did a great job keeping things on point. Again, fun episode all around!

-Two episodes to go with what is left on The Network and next time we get WWE Giants.
