411’s WWE Table for 3: WWE Family Report

-Original air date: May 4, 2016

-Of the ones released this year, this is the one I never got a chance to watch. As the title suggests we are getting 3 WWE Legends: Pat Patterson, Hillbilly Jim, and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.

-Patterson starts by saying that once Jim starts talking he won’t stop. He then jokes that Jim never had to take a bump in his life and Jim says it was mental wrestling.

-Ricky talks about always being a good guy and he told Pat that he wanted to work heel before he retired. Pat listened to him and told him he could go out and attack Hogan with a chainsaw, cutting off one of his arms, and the crowd would think Hogan deserved it because of how great Ricky was as a face. Ricky thanks Pat for that advice as it has set him apart from others in the business.

-Pat talks about how long they have known each other. Ricky has been in the business nearly 40 years and Jim started in 1982. Pat mentions he started in 1958 and Ricky asks about the tag team with Ray Stevens. They started tagging in the 60s and Pat tells a story about his back giving him problems 10 years ago. He thought he twisted his back playing golf and found out he needed surgery for an aneurism. He asked his doctor if he should have the surgery and he tells him yes because if he dies it is the best way to go. He was given a 10% chance to survive the surgery, and he then talks about getting up and walking around naked while telling everyone he was going golfing.

-Jim brings up Legends House and how Patterson wanted to escape. He and Gene tried to leave once and were able to get to a nearby city where they got hammered. They were trying to find a ride, but instead found another bar and decided to have another round for the road. Gene told him that the bar seemed weird since there were no women, and Pat told him it was a gay bar. They were able to finally get a taxi to get back to the house.

-Steamboat talks about working with Jay Youngblood and Patterson said it worked well. Steamboat tells a story of them going to a bar with Pat and it ended up being another gay bar. Pat didn’t let Steamboat know it was a gay bar. Steamboat talks about how dark it was other than a disco ball, and when the house lights came on after a song ended they could see it was a gay bar. Patterson was dying to see their reaction and Steamboat admits it was a good rib as he recalls seeing guys in chaps dancing with each other.

-Jim wants to tell an Andre The Giant story and these are usually always fun. He says they each have millions of them and this one takes place in France. Andre calls up Jim and asks him if he wants to go to dinner. They go to dinner and the bill ends up being $2000 and Andre covers the bill for everyone. Jim says that Andre always picked up the tab as he would not let anyone pay for anything. Patterson tells one of them driving down the road and Patterson told him they were going to pass up some of the other boys in a car and they were going to moon them. Andre pulls down his pants and it is another rib as it was an old couple instead of other wrestlers. Nice!

-Now Ricky gets a chance to tell an Andre story. Andre comes in to a restaurant after being in the Main Event and for whatever reason he decides to moon people and ends up getting a standing ovation. Back to Patterson and he talks about Andre having to take a shit while they are driving down the road. Patterson pulls over and lets Andre out who uses the vehicle to hide the fact he is taking a dump. Patterson decides to move the car up 20 feet and then starts blasting on the horn so everyone driving by on that mid afternoon could see Andre the Giant taking a crap. Awesome!

-Ricky brings up how there was a period in the WWE where it looked like a zoo as he had a monitor lizard, Jake had a snake, Koko a bird, and The Bulldogs with a dog. Patterson talks about how he would feed Matilda a bunch of junk so she would vomit in the car and they got Frankie to say “fuck you” to anyone that would say something to him. Ricky talks about the snake and how it would stay in that bag or in a shower, and the Bulldogs would often mess with the snake it piss it off. Once they did a show and Ricky had to take a DDT and the snake treatment, but Jake had to fight it because it was so pissed off. The snake started to wrap itself around Jake’s neck and he was yelling for Ricky to help him and he told Jake that if he got up it would kill his finisher. Jake told him he didn’t care so Ricky got up and helped. The snake got into the crowd and they started to freak out. Jay Strongbow was the agent for the match and cleared the lockers to get out to help find the snake. They were the last match so once the snake was found and put back in the bag all the boys had to walk to the back in a single file while still pretending to hate each other. Great story!

-They all wrap things up talking about how they are part of a family. They can go years without seeing each other, but when they do it is like they never missed a beat.

-This was a lot of fun as it was nothing but stories from the road and their time in the business. There wasn’t really any talk about each one’s career which is fine. Pat carried the majority of the conversation hear which isn’t surprising but each other added something and really, you can’t go wrong with 3 legends telling stories about pranks and Andre The Giant.

-Next we get the nWo Kliq!
