The promotion has been in the midst of the Chase For The Gold Tournament, with the winner meeting Chaotic Heavyweight Champion Chase Del Monte at their huge Cold Fury show in March. The finals are tonight with a fatal four-way match between JT Dunn, Elia Markopolous, Adam Booker & Christian Casanova. In addition, there are three more title matches on the card.

MATCH ONE: New England Championship – “Man of Steel” Mike Verna (c) v. Brick Mastone

Verna knocked off Travis “Flip” Gordon this month in an upset to capture the title. Then, being a native New Yorker, rechristened the belt the New York Championship. Mastone has slowly become one of the more underrated wrestlers on the New England independent scene.

Verna has a fake Superman logo painted on his chest in the Mets colors. Instead of an ‘S’ it’s an ‘M’ for Mike. Okay.

Mastone was on top early, but Verna used some chicanery on the floor to post Brick and gain the advantage. The two of them didn’t seem to click as Verna got the heat on him. The crowd still got behind the challenger, but these two were struggling to put it all together.

Verna missed with a Swanton, which he tried as a taunt toward Flip Gordon. Brick ran wild with a comeback and got a nearfall. Verna threw a chair in the ring as a distraction, then got another chair at ringside, went into the ring and clocked Brick in the head (protected) with it for a blatant DQ. Odd finish. Brick then no-sold the chair shot and laid out Verna with a torture rack into a TKO.

Mastone cut a promo after saying he wanted to go into Cold Fury as the New England Champion, but now he doesn’t have a match. So out of nowhere, he emphatically challenges Cody Rhodes. Good promo, but why it came after that ending I don’t know. I do love the idea of Rhodes coming in to wrestle a young talent, though.

WINNER: Brick Mastone by DQ

MATCH TWO: Da Hoodz (Davey Cash & Kris Pyro) v. The Cam-An Connection (“All Good” Anthony Greene & Cam Zagami)

This is the first time Greene and Zagami have teamed in a while, as they went their separate ways in Chaotic for a period.

Good back and forth exchange to start the match, followed by a successful stereo dive by Greene & Zagami to the floor to get the crowd up. Da Hoodz gained the advantage after that and got the heat on Greene.

Hot tag to Zagami and he went off on both Hoodz. Big moonsault on Cash for a nearfall. Hoodz turned the tides and went to work on Zagami. That didn’t last long and it was evens from there. Finish saw a backcracker/top rope senton splash combo on Cash for the win. Decent match, but the crowd was clearly thrown by the babyface/babyface dynamic.

After the match, frustrations got the best of Cash as he had a tantrum, pushed Pyro and Greene on the way out.

WINNERS: The Cam-An Connection

MATCH THREE: Travis “Flip” Gordon v. Maxwell Jacob Feinstein

Before the match, Flip got on the mic and talked about his lost to Verna last month, saying Verna “shocked the world.” He said he didn’t forget what Verna did to him, so he’s cashing in his rematch for the title at Cold Fury, and called tonight a warm-up.

Feinstein with a spoiled rich kid gimmick, and boy does he look the part. He got on the mic and said he’s done everything Flip has done, and he’s not an easy target and won’t be run over. He also threw in he’s better than the bums in the audience.

Some early athletic exchanges where Feinstein held his own with Gordon. After a very brief advantage, Feinstein started working over the arm of Flip. Feinstein showed great presence in the ring and was doing a great job as a heel both with his offense and in running his mouth to the crowd and the referee.

Prolonged heat on Flip until Gordon found his opening, and in a convincing way, hit a suicide dive to the floor for a defacto double down. The dive wasn’t stalled and it didn’t seem forced, so kudos for that.

Flip got on a roll and used his high flying offense to get a nearfall, which included a nice PK/standing moonsault combo. Feinstein fought back with a really cool head and arm package driver for a nearfall that he couldn’t believe didn’t finish it. Great facial expressions. Another great double down that got the crowd literally on its feet in applause. Tremendous stuff.

After working the arm all match, Feinstein came close to a submission with a reverse armbar, but Gordon got out of it. Huge reverse rana, a superkick, and then Gordon went up top. That’s when Verna’s music hit, he came out and distracted Gordon. That allowed Feinstein to get a roll-up with a hand full of tights for the win.

After the match, Flip laid Verna out with a somersault Death Valley Driver. They played Flip’s music, so Feinstein got on the mic and said, “last time I checked, I won, so play MY music.” Fantastic touch.

WINNER: Maxwell Jacob Feinstein

MATCH FOUR: Chaotic Wrestling Tag Team Championship – The Mill City Hooligans (c) (Matt & Bryan Logan) w/ Chase Del Monte v. “That Guy” Scotty Slade & “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke

Del Monte got on the mic before the match and said he didn’t care who wins the Chase For The Gold tournament, because they’ll always be number two to him, because he’s the longest reigning champion in the company’s history.

When they were on the same page, Slade and Locke were tearing through the Logans. The only problem is they always seemed to disagree and butt heads, even though it was done to comedic effect.

The Logans were able to get the heat on Slade and cut the ring off. Already a big fan favorite, the crowd was well behind Slade to will him to a hot tag. It took a while as the champs stayed on “That Guy.”

Locke did a good job on the hot tag and the running wild. They looked to have it won when they hit a DDT and a wheelbarrow suplex, but it was on the wrong Logan. The ref got distracted, allowing powder to be thrown in Locke’s eyes and the Logan’s got the win and retained the titles.

After the match, General Manager Johnny Vegas came to the ring. He announced The Logans would defend the titles at Cold Fury in a four-way against EYFBO and two other yet-to-be-named teams.

WINNERS: The Mill City Hooligans

INTERMISSION

“The Kingpin” Brian Milonas came to the ring and got on the mic. He ran down Chaotic being “The Birthplace of the Stars.” He said he left and now you’re going to see him on TV next week. He got an open invite to come back, so he came back to prove he’s the best super heavyweight. He also ran down Johnny Vegas for not inviting him to the Chase For The Gold tournament. He accused him of not wanting him to be champion again. He was starting to threaten Vegas when Mikey Webb came to the ring.

Milonas asked Webb if he should be shining Donovan Dijak’s shoes somewhere. Milonas trashed Webb, saying Dijak needed someone to carry his bags around for him. Webb reminded him that Milonas left the company after Dijak beat him. Webb was in the midst of saying Chaotic didn’t need Milonas when “The Kingpin” attacked him. Webb, outweighed significantly, got in a hell of a lot of offense before Milonas was able to put him down. They got into a scrum on the floor when security came in to break it up. They were holding Milonas back when Webb hit a suicide dive on all of them, except Milonas got out of the way. He grabbed the ring bell, met Webb in the ring and laid him out.

I’m good with a pull apart and I’m good with Webb looking strong in a potential match, but it took way too much for Milonas to put him out given the size discrepancy.

MATCH FIVE: Chaotic Women’s Championship – Davienne (c) v. Ashley Vox (w/ Delmi Exo & Jawselyn)

So there was a girl out with Vox in a shark costume. Apparently I need to watch more CHIKARA to understand?

Davienne was using her size and strength advantage to keep Vox down, while Vox would make comebacks with high flying attempts and mostly get cut off. Davienne brought a bag of Swedish Fish to the ring and ended up bodyslamming Vox on it. Ummm…okay?

Vox showed good babyface fire at one point in the match, but after the Swedish Fish involvement, it got kind of lost. The match got lost at the end. Davienne won with a roll-up, the second match of the night to end that way.

WINNER: Davienne

MAIN EVENT: Chase For The Gold Tournament Finals – JT Dunn v. Adam Booker v. Christian Casanova (w/ Triplicious & Catherine Belmont) v. Elia Markopolous

Triplicious hooked Elia’s leg early and he and Belmont got tossed.

A lot of the match was spent with multiple men in the ring, so there was too much action for me to try and capture here in a review. It would read like a move listing rather than a recap.

Everyone did a very good job playing their parts and they didn’t do the typical four-way spots, which was a nice change of pace.

Tripilicious and Belmont came back out and hit the apron. JT Dunn then elbowed Belmont off the apron and Tripilicious in the ring. That allowed Booker to roll-up (number three of the night) Dunn to eliminate him from the match. Dunn then proceeded to knockout referee Kevin Quinn and two security guards before leaving.

Elia eliminated Booker with a leaping Spike DDT.

Decent back and forth between Elia and Casanova to close it out. Casanova grabbed Belmont’s clipboard and went to hit Elia with it, but Elia ducked and hit a Jackhammer for the win.

WINNER: Elia Markopolous

Del Monte got in the ring. Fans chanted “You Deserve It” at Elia, and Del Monte said yes, he does deserve the ass beating he’s going to give him at Cold Fury. Del Monte went to leave and Elia turned his back. Del Monte jumped him, but Elia went for the Jackhammer. Chase powdered and Elia got on the mic and said he’s going to kick Chase’s ass, as well as the Logans who came out to the ring. How is he going to do that in a one-on-one match?

Overall, this was a fun show with simple storytelling and a standout match between Flip Gordon and Maxwell Jacob Feinstein. If you have kids and want a very inexpensive, family friendly alternative to WWE, Chaotic is a great option.
