Lucha Underground Title Aztec Warfare Match: #1 is the Champion, The Monster Matanza Cueto; his title is on the line here. Johnny Mundo is #2. Aztec Warfare IS BASICALLY THE ROYAL Rumble, but with pins, and submissions, but no over the top eliminations so we get cool dives. Matanza controlled early, Son of Havoc was #3 and he and Mundo(#2) reluctantly worked together to battle the monster. #4 was Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan) the three worked together for a bit, but then thy attacked each other. Pentagon was #5, and after the break, Pentagon was kicking all the asses.

PJ Black was #6, he attacked Crane right away, and then he and Mundo hit 3D on Havoc. #7 was Mariposa, who promptly ate a Crane driller, Matanza quickly returned and pinned Crane. Mariposa tried to use her sexy to distract Matanza, it failed as Matanza planted her with a chokeslam to eliminate her @ the 17-minute mark. Rey Mysterio was in at #8, but Mundo and Black cut him off. Havoc low bridged Matanza to the floor, as Pentagon and Rey went back and forth; Dr. Wagner was #9. He and Pentagon worked over Rey, Marty the Moth was #10 and went right after Matanza, sending him to the floor and then hitting a dive.#11 was Jack Evans. He celebrated with Mundo and Black, but Matanza beat on Marty with a stool. Son of Havoc was eliminated by Evans, Black and Mundo. Sexy Star was #12. Black lotus then returned with some assassins, Joey Ryan again handcuffed himself to the barricade like last year; Mundo, Evans and Black all work over Star. We got some dives as Ricky Mandel was in at #13 and ate kicks from Pentagon and then the package piledriver. Pentagon looked to break his arm, but Black lotus then returned with some assassins and Broke Pentagon’s arm for the elimination as Mundo pinned him. #14 was Sagrada. Matanza eliminated him. Famous B was #15. He hugged Rey, and gave him a business card. Rey instead dialed up 619 for the elimination. Marty attacked Rey, but Rey hit the RANA for the elimination. #16 was the Mack. Mack ran wild on Mundo, Evans and Black. Mack and Star worked together, and #18 was Muertes, who attacked Ryan and broke the cuffs. C and Muertes eliminated Ryan and Wagner and went face to face before brawling. Kobra Moon was #19. The Mack hit stunners and eliminated Evans. Mack and Star then pinned Black. #20 was Drago. He battled Kobra Moon; they have had words in recent weeks. Drago then pinned Moon with the dragon’s cradle. Matanza then took out Drago. Matanza, Muertes, Rey, Mack and Star are left along with Mundo. Matanza and Rey went back and forth, code breaker by Star on Matanza. Stunner by Mack on Matanza as everyone attacks Matanza. 619 to Matanza, another but Matanza is alive until Rey pins Matanza with the code red. At 43-minutes in.

Angelico then returned with a dive off Dario’s office, .to take out Mundo and crew for his revenge. and Matanza attacks Rey for pinning him. Wrath of the gods to Rey by Matanza as Dario is supremely pissed at ringside. Mundo pinned Rey after Matanza knocked down Dario. Star and Mundo battled, continuing their issues as trainer take Rey away, Black and Evans returned to help Mundo, attacking Star. Rey gets stretchered out. Star then pinned Mundo for her revenge. Muertes, Star and Mack are left. Flatliner to the Mack and Muertes eliminated him. Star and Muertes go back and forth, Muertes overpowered her and then got a table. He brings it in the ring and then gets a chair. Star tries to fight back and DDTs Muertes onto the chair and lays in chair shots for a near fall. Muertes then misses the spear and goes through the table, Star got a near fall. Muertes cut her off with a big right, and hen set up a table, grabbed Star and set her up top, but Star sent him off through the table, hit a double stomp and won the title. Sexy Star won the title @56:58 via pin [****] Aztec Warfare delivers once again, mixing great action and interweaving the season’s established stories very well. Whether you like her or not, this was the Sexy Star redemption tour, and the crowd treated it like a big deal, so on that level, it worked. Aztec Warfare again proves that a “one match show” is not a bad term. Everything came together well, which is a credit to the storytelling.

– Mundo will cash in Gift of the Gods Next week for a title shot, continuing Mundo vs. Star.
