* Promotional note: On Sunday night, I will be taking over the @411wrestling Twitter feed and will be live Tweeting my thoughts on WWE Battleground. Make sure to join me, and also follow 411 for our usual live coverage. Make sure you follow that account to read my thoughts, and also to be eligible to win a copy of WWE: The Kliq Rules on DVD!

* Dario Cueto met with Pentagon Jr. Cueto wants to give away more medallions tonight, but Pentagon Jr doesn’t give any fucks about medallions. Pentagon Jr said if he wanted medallions that he would break Cueto’s arms and take them. Cueto was curious about this Master, and Pentagon Jr said that he wants to destroy Vampiro. Pentagon Jr doesn’t fuck around.

* Fenix, Aerostar and Jack Evans each hold an Aztec Medallion.

* For a man who had his ass beat and was covered in gasoline, Vampiro is in a good mood tonight. That’s what you get when you tape opens and change the schedule of when you air shows.

Aztec Medallion Match: Bengala vs. DelAvar Davari w/Big Ryck: Bengala went pure lucha right away with the arm drag and then a big dive. Big Ryck got involved early to turn the tide in Davari’s direction. Davari would toss him to the floor to allow Ryck to attack again, but Bengala made a fun comeback and got some near falls, which got the crowd into it. He then hit a dive on Ryck for some payback, but that led to Davari hitting a superplex for a near fall. Davari told Ryck to help him, which backfired as Ryck ended up hitting Davari. Bengala connected with a German suplex for the win. It was OK for the time given, but too much interference from Ryck for my liking.

* Vampiro headed to the ring to tell his story in wrestling. He then said that Pentagon Jr has been trying to get him into one more match, but he says his time has come and gone. This brought out Pentagon Jr, who told Vampiro to stop talking crap because he demands an answer about the challenge for Ultima Lucha. Vampiro again said his time has come and gone, and he loves his job and asks Pentagon Jr to stop. He then said that at Ultima Lucha, Pentagon Jr will get his ass kicked by Vampiro. Vampiro then hit the chokeslam on Pentagon Jr and stood tall. An overall fine segment, I wish that Pentagon Jr was doing something more important, but I will say that the crowd treats Vampiro like a legit, so they have that going for them.

* We see Sexy Star preparing for her match, and she still has Super Fly’s mask. She has some flashbacks of taking the mask.

Aztec Medallion Match: Kill Shot vs. King Cuerno: They had a fun, hard-hitting, back and forth match. They sold the story that these guys have been stalking each other, which led to both countering a lot of the trademark moves that they usually use. Cuerno spiked Kill Shot late with a reverse RANA, and then hit his big suicide dive. Cuerno then locked in a version of the dragon sleeper to score the win. They got more time, and I appreciated the story that they were trying to tell, but it wasn’t the match I was expecting, and was a bit under whelming.

Aztec Medallion Match: Sexy Star vs. Super Fly: They worked for 30-seocnds, and then Star scored the win with La Mistica. Well there you go then, thanks for coming Super Fly.

* Marty The Moth Martinez arrived and said that the medallion should be his. He comes from an Aztec tribe, and the medallion that Star won has his symbol on it, and said it should be his. He wants the chance to win it and bring it back to his ancestors. And we have another match.

Aztec Medallion Match: Sexy Star vs. Marty The Moth Martinez: Star accepted and ran wild early, using her speed and doing well until Martinez caught her on a high cross and slammed her down for a near fall. Martinez tried to work a figure four, but Star reversed it and Martinez had to release it. She then scored with La Mistica again and picked up the win. This felt like they were working to rehab Star before Ultima Lucha after a season of largely poor and very inconsistent booking. I appreciate that, but you can’t undo it all in one night.

* Fenix, Aerostar, Bengala, Killshot, Sexy Star and Jack Evans each hold an Aztec Medallion.

* Here is the updated card for Ultima Lucha…

– Blue Demon Jr vs. Texano
– Pentagon Jr. vs. Vampiro
– Drago vs. Hernandez
– Alberto El Patron vs. Johnny Mundo
Lucha Underground Trios Title Match: Champions Ivelisse, Son of Havoc and Angelico vs. The Disciples of Death
Lucha Underground Title Match: Champion Prince Puma vs. Mil Muertes

Mil Muertes and Prince Puma go Face to Face: Dario Cueto is here to host this face off. El Jefe has been quiet in recent weeks, and has graced us with out presence. He hyped up the big Ultima Lucha title match, and then Puma and Muertes came to the ring. As they faced off, Catrina appeared and Cueto asked her to leave. The Disciples of Death arrived and wheeled out the casket, and the men brawled. The Disciples of Death got involved and started to beat down Puma. Konnan tried to make the save, and he worked over the Disciples with the cane but Muertes took him out. Muertes then held Puma as Catrina KO’d Konnan with the rock. The Disciples placed him in the casket as Puma was forced to watch, and then Muertes hit the flatliner as Konnan was wheeled out of the Temple. That was a good way to close the show.

* End scene.

* Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good
The 411
While they took steps to continue the build to Ultima Lucha, this was a show that you could easily skip. There was no great wrestling this week, but they continued the “Aztec Medallion” deal, which will lead to something at the big event. This was a show to help get things in place and lock matches in, which is fine, but nothing you need to sit through and watch; you can get all you need in highlight clips.
