Like the BOTSJ & The G1, I will be only covering the tournament matches.

Block A Match: Manabu Nakanishi & Henare vs. War Machine (Ray Rowe & Hanson): War Machine attacked at the bell, and we got clubbbering. Hanson then tossed Henare to the floor onto Nakanishi and hit the suicide dive. They then took the heat on Henare, working him over in their corner. Poor Henare got beaten like he owed War Machine money. Nakanishi got the tag, did power spots with Rowe and the crowd loved his old, slow ass. Torture Rack on Rowe and then Hanson, who escaped. Henare fired up and got the hot tag, hit a running senton for a near fall and then Nakanishi javelin threw him onto Rowe. Young lion crab on Rowe by Henare, Hanson made the save. Henare then ate a springboard knee into a German suplex and then the fallout; War Machine picks up the win. War Machine defeated Manabu Nakanishi & Henare @ 7:45via pin [***] War Machine looked great here, working with that fire and aggression they work with Lee And Taylor. They appeared extra motivated here and looked great. They fit in very well.

Block A Match: Brian Breaker & Leland Race vs. Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page: Leland Race is the son of Harley Race. Takahashi had issues early, getting out powered by Breaker. Page and Race then grappled back and forth. It was fine. Race then hit a missile dropkick. Takahashi tried to low bridge Race, but they fucked up the spot. Takahashi and Page then took the heat, I have seen five-minutes of Young Mr. Race and am not impressed at all. He’s a guy. Page grounded him with the chinlock, Race escaped and then got the tag to breaker, who ran wild and took down page with the shoulder breaker an dump suplex for 2. Breaker then threw Page into Takahashi. The running powerslam on Takahashi followed, and then strikes to Page, who fired back with the lariat. Race back in, he and Takahashi went back and forth, Takahashi then hit the basement dropkick 2.Race tried to fire up, but Takahashi hit the fisherman’s buster for the near fall. Breaker now in with a shotgun dropkick for the save, leading to Race picking up the pin on Takahashi. Brian Breaker & Leland Race defeated Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page @ 11:35 via pin [**] This was a very bland undercard match, lacking any real fire or sense of urgency. I have no desire to watch either team again. It wasn’t bad, just…. There.

Block A Match: Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa: Tenzan in to begin, Tonga attacked him and used the double chops. He tried a head butt, which failed. Tenzan and Kojima then worked double teams to take control. The guerrillas quickly fought back. Loa hit the powerslam for 2 on Kojima. Tonga back in with head butts to Kojima, beating him down in the corner. Solid heat here by the guerrillas, but they again lack that killer instinct that a really good heel team needs. Tenzan then returned and served up chops for Loa and Tonga. Tonga hit a spear out of nowhere on Tenzan, Loa then leveled him with the lariat for 2. Loa and Tenzan traded strikes center ring, and after a double down, Kojima got the hot tag and delivered rapid fire chops to Loa. The guerrillas worked double teams on Kojima, but he survived. It broke down, Koji cutter on Tonga and then one to Loa. LARIATO to Loa and Kojima picks up the win. Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa @ 11:25via pin [***] I liked that, the old dogs pick up the early win over the champions, setting them up for a title match at some point. New Japan Dads rule. The pacing overall was good, the crowd was into it and I love the dads.

Block A Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Juice Robinson vs. Tetsuya Naito & Rush: Rush was Naito’s mystery partner as many expected. Tanahashi in to begin, righting off both Naito and Rush. Juice then tagged in and showed good babyface fire Rush was a complete dick early, mocking Tanahashi’s air guitar and working leg kicks. He and Naito were great assholes here. Tanahashi and Juice battled back; Juice ha a potty mouth when he fires up, yelling, “RIGHT HERE MOTHER FUCKA!” Juice put together a good run until Naito cut him off with the tornado DDT. Rush then laid the boots to him, hit the corner dropkick and covered for 2. Rush has a great presence about him, you immediately hater him the moment you see him. Juice survived, Tanahashi made the comeback got cut off and then Rush and Naito had a miscommunication, which allowed Tanahashi to battle back, but he missed high fly flow. Naito in, hits the cone dropkick combo and covers for 2. Tanahashi and Naito traded strikes center ring, Tanahashi then attacked the leg as Juice hit a high cross for 2. He followed with the powerbomb for 2 on Naito. Rush cut him off he and Naito double teamed him and then got a near fall. Naito then locked in the koji clutch, and Tanahashi made the save for young Juice. Rush then killed Tanahashi with the Rush driller. Gloria to Juice, who kicked out, and then Destino finished him off. Tetsuya Naito & Rush defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi & Juice Robinson vs. @ 16:55 via pin [***¾] That was really good, they got away without doing a lot early, allowing the crowd to just react. There is nothing wrong with that, the home stretch was very strong. Naito felt refreshed with Rush around, and I appreciated the change myself; I like the various Los Ingobernables pairings, but Rush has such a great swagger. The Tanahashi vs. Naito interactions were very good, they seem to be clicking in all of their pre-Wrestlekingdom interactions.

Brian Breaker & Leland Race vs. Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page is a skip for sure, but overall the tournament matches on night one were strong. Rush was a great surprise, and War machine looked great. This was solid overall.
