Block B Match : Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Yoshitatsu & Billy Gunn @ 12:40 via pin [**]
Block B Match : Kenny Omega & Chase Owens defeated YOSHI-HASHI & Kazuchika Okada @ 17:30 via pin [****]

Like the BOTSJ & The G1, I will be only covering the tournament matches.

Block B Match: Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Yoshitatsu & Billy Gunn : This was an overall average effort, with Yoshitatsu being his usual horrible self. What was more interesting here was the presentation of Billy Gunn. Gunn has worked really hard throughout, but here they gave him a ton, playing the unstoppable power guy and even survived the brainbuster and lariat from Ishii. That felt very odd, because that’s usually saved for a guy about to get a big singles push. So in that regard, I don’t think Gunn is the right guy to have do that. Goto felt like he was in night off mode, he was fine but it was minimal effort from him. Ishii and Gunn worked the majority of the match, which was solid. Maybe they can make a singles match work, but I can’t say it is something I want to see. Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Yoshitatsu & Billy Gunn @ 12:40 via pin [**] This was a solid enough opener, Gunn worked hard again and Yoshitatsu was de-emphasized before taking the pin.

Block B Match: Kenny Omega & Chase Owens defeated YOSHI-HASHI & Kazuchika Okada : The opener is a match I would skip without hesitation unless you’re a huge fan of Mr. Ass. Kenny Omega & Chase Owens did the basic heel strategy, where they isolated Okada, which was done to add to the set up Omega vs. Okada at WK. Omega did a lot of comedy early, which again I felt was a bit out of place in a way. He did it earlier in the tournament, and I wish he would tone it down a bit, because it really takes away from his edge. But with that being said, they ended up having an excellent match, with the final 10-minutes or so being pretty out of this world in terms of action, pacing and some amazing near falls. The energy was off the charts, and the two teams worked so well together. Omega put HASHI away with the one winged angel, putting away Okada’s “little brother” to stand tall, and annoy Okada even more. These two teams have been fun, with HASHI continuing his trend of good performance he started in the G1. He constantly looks as if he wants to impress Big Brother Okada. Owens is in a similar role, but is more like a star scream looking to please the evil megaton. I loved the second half of this very much, it had beautiful pacing great near falls, and a tremendous intensity with everyone coming off as if they wanted this win more than anything. They made me care because it felt like match meant everything to them. They did their job, they made me care and that can be rare for the World Tag Teague.
