Like the BOTSJ & The G1, I will be only covering the tournament matches.

– This is a fixed camera, no commentary show; because “B Block” means BITCH BLOCK.”

Block B Match: SANADA & EVIL vs. Bad Luck Fale & BONE SOLDIER : BONE SOLDIER continues to build his case for worst wrestler of the year. It’s always sad seeing someone so bad drag good performers down with them; SANADA and EVIL have had great years, but nothing they did here came off as interesting or made it appear that BONE SOLDIER was skilled in any way. We got floor brawling, Fale played big scary man well, and appeared to be trying because he knows that EVIL and SANADA can make him look good. Unfortunately, BONE SOLDIER would once again try to wrestle and it did not end well. The worst part is that they worked an extended heat on him, which as Captain New Japan could work, but no one cares about shitty heel BONE SOLDIER. Fale got the luke warm tag, strolled in an untamed fashion, and did some solid back and forth with EVIL. SANADA made the save, survived the Fale splash and made BONE SOLDIER submit to the dragon sleeper. The final 30-seconds or so was really sloppy, bad break up spots and poor selling by Fale and BONE SOLDIER took away from a decently laid out finish. Please send BONE SOLDIER away. SANADA & EVIL defeated Bad Luck Fale & BONE SOLDIER @ 9:30 via submission [*] This was no good, and felt about twice as long as it actually was.

Block B Match: Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs. Yoshitatsu & Billy Gunn: MY GOD, Mr. ASS JUST PINNED HONMA IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2016. Yoshitatsu is still playing Dollar Tree Triple H. Gunn worked a lot of the match, the crowd loved him, he’s in good shape and is better than Yoshitatsu. Gunn and Maksbe worked power spots early, with Gunn getting the advantage and proclaiming “I AM THE STRONGEST!” Yoshitatsu tagged himself in, allowing Honma and Makabe to take the heat. Solid heat, but Yoshitatsu does that dead fish selling, where he lays there with no emotion and occasionally flops around. Honma missed a falling Kokeshi, allowing Yoshitatsu to mount an emotionless and bland comeback. Gunn showed more fire standing on the apron. Gunn made the comeback, working with Honma, who of course sold well for him. Makabe and Honma both sold like champs for Gunn the entire match. Yoshitatsu and Honma worked a bit down the stretch, with Yoshitatsu making bad choices on offense, and grinding the match to halt after Gunn had gotten the crowd into things. Honma and Makabe then ran wild on Yoshitatsu, Gunn made the save, it broke down and Honma fired up with some jumping kokeshis, AND MY GOD, Mr. ASS JUST PINNED HONMA IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2016 WITH THE FAMEASSER. Yoshitatsu & Billy Gunn defeated Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma @ 12:00 via pin [**] This was a rock solid match, the crowd loved Honma and Gunn and gave this match some juice, and Honma and Makabe worked well with Gunn throughout. Yoshitatsu is still really bad and did nothing to add to this match.

Block B Match: Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kenny Omega & Chase Owens: Kenny Omega & Chase Owens is a good (megatron and starscream) team in terms of the big leader working with a minion. Owens is by no means trying to takeover, but works well in a role like this. He has gone from a guy I cared nothing about to a really solid hand that has shown constant improvement. Takahashi and Page attacked Goto and Ishii on the floor, allowing Omega to score with a big dive. That allowed Bullet Club to take the immediate heat. It was a good early heat, Goto got the hot tag, ran wild and then took control when Omega accidentally superkicked Owens. Goto controlled for several minutes, the number game finally got to him as Owens and Omega worked him over on the floor for the countout tease. Goto and Owens actually worked very well together; clean back and forth as Omega joined the fray to attack the knee of Goto so Bullet Club could take the heat back. Owens then hit the code breaker, allowing Omega to score a near fall. Goto worked kicks on Omega, got the hot tag to Ishii and he ran wild lariats, head butts and shoulder blocks. The brainbuster on Omega go a near fall. Omega fought for his life to escape a powerbomb attempt, but Owens made he save until Ishii started tossing fools around with German suplexes. It broke down into the stiff strikes buffet. Goto hit the Ushigoroshi on Owens, Omega made the save, but Goto hit the GRT on Owens to finally put him away. Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Kenny Omega & Chase Owens @ 10:36 via pin [***] This was good and enjoyable; nothing that will be remembered or rock your world, but the work was clean, had a sense of urgency and everyone pulled their weight and played their roles well. It’s been a lot of fun watching Owens improve like he has the past few years. He has gone from solid and unsure to confident and looking as if he belongs.

Block B Match: Katsuyori Shibata & Yuji Nagata vs. Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI: We got some Shibata vs. Okada to begin, which I was pleased with. I really want a singles program with them in 2017. After a brief back and forth, HASHI and Nagata worked a stretch, with HASHI trying to ground Nagata. HASHI did well until he ran into a Nagata knee strike. Nagata then laid the boots to HASHI, and HASHI finally tripped him up and took him to the floor, slamming Nagata to the barricade repeatedly. Okada then took the heat on Nagata, hitting the slingshot senton and then working quick tags with HASHI, as they isolated Nagata in their corner. The crowd was really into Nagata and Shibata, and rallied hard for Nagata. Good reaction for Shibata on the hot tag, he ran wild on both Okada and HASHI, isolating HASHI, but HASHI managed to ire up with strikes and a neck breaker. Okada then returned to run wild on Shibata, until Shibata planted him with a German suplex. Nagata back in and worked kicks to Okada, HASHI made the save and it broke down. Okada would then hit the neck breaker, and elbow drop. Shibata and Nagata worked arm bars on both Okada and HASHI near the end, but couldn’t finish them off. Nagata fired up one last time, but Okada had too much left in the tank; the tombstone and rainmaker finished ended Nagata’s night, as HASHI took out Shibata, and that was that. Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI defeated Katsuyori Shibata & Yuji Nagata @ 17:30 via pin [***] This was another good match, on par with the previous one, with good work and an interested crowd. I really enjoyed the Shibata vs. Okada interactions.
