ROH TV 10.07.15 – Episode 211

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– The Briscoe Brothers defeated The Time Splitters @ 14:30 via pin [***½]
Non-Title Match: Kazuchika Okada defeated Roderick Strong @ 17:45 via [****¼]

* Matches come from the Field of Honor event at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY.

The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay) vs. The Time Splitters (Shelley & KUSHIDA): The Briscoes has control right off the bat, and got some heat on KUSHIDA. The Splitter fought back, we had some back and forth and the Splitters took control of things as we hit a commercial break. When we came back from the break, the Splitters were working the arm of Mark. We had lots of quick tags by the Splitters, leading to a double team suplex and a near fall. This is the match where Shelley suffered a broken tooth or teeth, and it was during the stretch where the Briscoes took back control, which had to suck. The commentary team actually played up the broken tooth, which while it was unfortunate that it happened, I appreciated them using what they were given. After a short heat, Shelley battled back and got he hot tag to KUSHIDA. During the comeback we had miscommunication between the Briscoes, which allowed KUSHIDA to run wild until Jay finally cut him off momentarily, but KUSHIDA said fuck that and hit a flying knee strike from the apron. Shelley and Jay brawled on the floor as Mark tried to use Redneck Kung Fu on KUSHIDA, which did not work out that well for him. KUSHIDA went back to the arm and scored with the hover board lock, but Jay made the save. It picked up nicely down the stretch, and the crowd responded well. The Splitters worked over Mark, who survived long enough for Jay to stop the doomsday sliced bread. Shelley was stuck in the tree of woe, and then the Briscoes scored with the razor’s edge/neck breaker combo for a nice near fall. Poor Shelley ate a bunch of forearms to the face from Jay, which had to suck. Tons of fun here, and Jay finally finishes Shelley with the Jay Driller. That was a very good little opener right there; I really enjoyed that.

* Highlights of Watanabe earning his shot at the ROH TV Title, which takes place next week.

* Mandy Leon was here for Inside MMA, focusing on the recent issues with Jay Briscoe and Adam Page.

* Nigel McGuinness joins us for commentary.

Non-Title Match: Roderick Strong vs. IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada: They worked a nice and aggressively paced opening stretch prior to the commercial break. Post break, Strong took control of things and starts to work the back, including a back breaker into the barricade. Strong got aggressive and continued the attack on the floor, and then they teased a countout as Okada struggled to get back into the ring. Okada was able to fight back and targeted the neck with a neck breaker and DDT, setting for the rainmaker. Okada sent Strong to the floor after a dropkick, which led to the second break. When we came back from the break Strong hit a back suplex into the apron, which then led to a near fall. After that they really picked up the pacing and went back and forth, including a superplex by Strong for a near fall and then into the Stronghold to play off of the work on the back. The home stretch was really great. Near the end, Strong got a really good near fall off of the gut buster into the sick kick. Okada eventually won, but had to use two tombstones, a German suplex and the rainmaker to put Strong away. I appreciated the finish as combined with the great outing from Strong, was one that I felt protected Strong. Strong continues to have a great 2015 in the ring, delivering in big matches and continuing his audition for NJPW. He was awesome at the War of the World show with the top guys, and continued that here. I really hope he gets the show it in 2016 to get some tours, because he has earned it. make some time for this one, it was excellent.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.
