Matt Sydal vs. Adam Page w/BJ Whiter and Young Boy Colby Corino: Page pinned Sydal in a tag match at Best in the World, which brings us to this match here tonight. Sydal controlled early, but when he went for a dive Page pulled Colby into the dive to save himself. Page then took control as we headed to commercial. Following the break Sydal tried to make a comeback, but Page cut him off. The crowd was rather dead during the heat, they didn’t care about Page at all and weren’t even into Sydal when he started his comeback. The action was fine, but this felt completely flat. Sydal won with the shooting star press. Post match, Whitmer attacks Sydal and demands that Colby get a chair. ACH hits the ring to try and make the save, but gets cut off with chair shots. Whitmer holds ACH as Page hits the rite of passage on Sydal onto some chairs. The post match was solid to set up ACH vs. Page, and Corino was good on commentary selling the angle. Also Whitmer is a completely unlikable asshole. The match just lacked any energy from the crowd, and felt long.

PPV Hype/Veda Talks : The commentary team hypes the Death Before Dishonor iPPV on July 24th. Veda Scott them comes out and it’s time for her to talk. She ran down Moose, and claimed that Cedric Alexander put a wrench in his plan. Moose will face Alexander at the Death Before Dishonor iPPV, and Veda says that Alexander will win again, and then take everything Moose never deserved. This was solid build to the iPPV match.

Silas Young vs. Will Ferrara: Young controlled early by begin a bully, which is his thing and he does it well. Ferrara fought back, using his speed and some grappling to ground Young. Young’s power was simply too much, and he then proceeded to beat down Ferrara with brutish offense. Ferrara would fire up and make a fun little comeback, and commentary did a nice job of hyping his skills and his work in the top prospects tournament. Ferrara ended up making this more competitive than I thought he would, scoring some good near falls down the stretch. Young DDT’d him into the bottom turnbuckle, and then Dalton Castle’s Boys arrived to try and distract Young. This led to Ferrara scoring a win off of the distraction. Post match. Young knocks one of Castle’s boys to the floor. He connects with the DDT on one of the boys, and then hits his TKO on the other. I hated that finish, it’s the usual bullshit you see on Raw. Young already lost to Castle, and then takes the loss here. He simply should have won and then beat down the boys. The match, much like the opener, was fine.

ROH TV Title Match: Champion Jay Lethal w/Truth Martini vs. Mark Briscoe: Roderick Strong is on commentary. Lethal attacked and controlled early, Truth Martini tried to get involved and ODB then came out to even the odds. This allowed Briscoe to take control as we headed to a commercial. After the break, Briscoe had control of things as commentary was selling the Death Before Dishonor main event (Strong vs. Lethal). Jay Diesel ran in, and was quickly dispatched by Briscoe. He never laid a hand on him Briscoe so there was no DQ, but it allowed Lethal to take control of the match. Lethal worked a really boring heat with a front facelock, which felt long. Briscoe then started his comeback and woke the crowd back up a bit, which saw him counter the Lethal injection and then send Lethal to the floor for a Cactus elbow. They went through another commercial break, we came back to ODB stopping Martini from getting involved. Donovan Dijak tried to get involved, but jay Briscoe arrived to cut him off. Lethal wiped out ODB with a dive, but Donovan Dijak ended up low blowing Briscoe, and the lethal infection finished it. They did some nice stuff, but it had way too many shenanigans and it really took away from the match. I’ve seen much better efforts form both this year, and quite honestly it’s shit like this that really makes me feel that Lethal needs to get away from the House of Truth.

* Post match, Lethal attacks Mark and Jay makes the save. The House of Truth then gets involved, which leads to Strong leaving the commentary table and getting involved. They then set up a tag match for next week’s 200th episode; ODB, Roderick Strong, Mark & Jay Briscoe vs. Jay Lethal, Truth Martini, Jay Diesel and Donovan Dijak.

* End scene.

* Thanks for reading.

Overall this was a very average show. There was nothing bad on the show, but there weren’t any stand out matches that you have to see. They did some solid hype for Death Before Dishonor and next week’s 200th TV show, but this was a show you could skip and really miss nothing important.
