ROH TV 8.12.15 – Episode 203

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– ACH defeated Watanabe @ 9:35 via pin [**½]
– War Machine defeated J. Diesel and Donovan Dijak @ 4:53 via pin [**½]
– Adam Page defeated Tim Huges @ 0:22 via pin [NR]
– The Kingdom defeated reDragon @ 16:05 via pin [***½]

ACH defeated Watanabe: So we have a match with ACH, the guy that seemingly never wins, and Watanabe, the guy that is pretty much forgotten about most of the time. Chop battle early, with each guy daring the other to hit them. Solid back and forth before the commercial break. Post break, Watanabe had control until ACH made a comeback and hit the Fosbury flop to the floor. Watanabe would fight back, they went to the floor and ACH did a run up the post to counter was whip, and then ate a German suplex on the floor. Watanabe got the near fall off of a fisherman’s buster, but ACH would hit the superkick, brain buster and 450 to pick up the win. This was an overall solid back and forth match, but it lacked something to pull me in or make me care about either guy. On the bright side, ACH actually won a match.

War Machine defeated The House of Truth (J. Diesel and Donovan Dijak): the House of Truth did not abide by the Code of Honor, instead attacking War machine right away. Hanson made the early comeback and looked to run wild, but Dijak kicked him square in the face to end that. Rowe had his moments as well when he got to run wild and toss guys around. Well, he was looking good until he about killed Dijak when he lost him on a powerbomb. War Machine got the win with fallout. Lethal was on commentary, and it took them over three minutes to get into the fact that Hanson had a TV title shot in three weeks against lethal and that the HoT was there to weaken the challenger. I wish they would have focused on that more. Lethal talked a ton of trash post match, noting that in three weeks Hanson was his and wouldn’t have any backup. War Machine can be a fun team, but it feels as if they have no real direction. Outside of the one botch, this had its moments and was fun, but was also disjointed with no real flow.

Adam Page defeated Tim Hughes: Page it the rite of passage and won in 22 seconds. This was only here to give the Decade their promo time, as Whitmer praised Page for his work and now he needs to call out a man. Page called out Jay Briscoe and demanded that he man up to him. Commentary informed us that Briscoe wasn’t here, which led to Page saying he was afraid. Whitmer then got in Cornino’s face for putting his hands on him before, which brought out Nigel. Corino looked ready to fight and Whitmer begged him to hit him as we went to break. More build to whatever this will be between Whitmer and Corino; a match at Final Battle I guess. We’re dedicating a ton of time to a wrestler vs. announcer feud when other characters and areas of the show really need it.

The Kingdom defeated reDragon: Adam Cole (BAY BAY) made his way out to do commentary. Cole was good on commentary, putting over his issues with the Kingdom and longtime friendship with Kyle O’Reilly. Hey also did a nice job of putting over both teams and the fact that they are in line for a possible tag title shot. They worked through the commercial, and when we came back reDRagon was in control, running wild on the Kingdom. Maria would distract O’Reilly, which allowed the Kingdom to take control and get the heat on O’Reilly and work him over on the floor. O’Reilly was really good here, great selling and a good babyface comeback to get the tag to Fish. Fish ran wild, O’Reilly came back and reDRagon had things in control down the stretch, but couldn’t put the Kingdom away. Taven then whiffed badly on the kick to O’Reilly as Bennett had O’Reilly on his back. They had some good near falls here, and then the Kingdom took out O’Reilly and hit hail Mary on the floor. This left Fish to fight alone, and while he put up a good fight, he fell to the hail Mary. This was an overall good main event and had a fun vibe to it, with good action and good work on commentary from Cole and Kelly.

– Post match the Kingdom attacked Fish and Cole made the save.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

This was an overall fine show this week, better overall than in recent weeks. The show still feels as if it’s missing something though, because while a fine show, nothing feels as if you have to be watching it.
