– We get highlights from last week’s show, where Lashley regained the TNA title.

The Broken Hardys Arrive: Matt claimed that the spotlight would be on Brother Nero tonight. The seven deities have told them that they must become the greatest team in all of space and time; they must acquire all the tag team gold in the world, winning all of the tag team gold. They must go to the teams (The Day of New, The Bucks of Youth, The family of Wyatts) who will not come to them. Jeff looks forward to more tag team conquests, but tonight will challenge Lashley. Lashley arrives, giving no fucks about anyone’s challenge, because he knew it was coming Lashley is ready for war, apocalypse or deletion. Jeff sends Matt backstage, because he wants there to be no excuses.

Champion Lashley vs. Jeff Hardy: Due to Jeff challenging Lashley here none of the other briefcase holders can challenge for the word or tag team titles. Lashley dominated the early portion of the match, using his power game. Jeff managed to send him to the floor, Jeff followed and set up the steps for something likely very stupid, because Jeff has no regard for himself. Jeff then hit a twist of fate on the floor but he can’t keep the big man down. Lashley then powerbombed Jeff onto the steps, why? Because Lashley gives no fucks, that’s why. Post break, Lashley was in control but Jeff fought back, played the hits, and then hit another twist of fate. The swanton follows, but Lashley kicks out. Jeff up top again, the swanton connects but Lashley gets the ropes. They took the brawl to the floor, Jeff hits poetry in motion off the steps. Jeff stupidly looked for a slingshot swanton to the floor, and crashes and burns; back in, Lashley cuts him in half with the spear to retain

Champion Lashley defeated Jeff Hardy @ 14:35 via pin [***½] This was a very good match to kick off the show, Lashley wins his first defense in clean fashion and against someone with a name. The match was very good, Lashley’s win came off well and Jeff worked hard and did well for a guy with negative functionality in his knees. It’s no secret that Jeff’s one knee is basically shredded and that from an athletic standpoint he has become a limited performer. There were times where he kept trying to do all of the old Jeff Hardy things, but one of the best things to come out of the Broken hardy saga was that Jeff has learned to rely on the gimmick and play the hits when needed. It took time, but he’s adapted and when he commits to that, he can still have quality singles outings like this one.

– Edie Edwards arrived; he put over Lashley and then asked for a rematch. Edwards sounded like an idiot, constantly calling Lashley “Triple B,” which means Bitch Boy Bobby. Christ, are you in middle school Eddie? Lashley said he will give him a match, but only one chance. If he loss he doesn’t want to see him again. Lashley is great, but Edwards came off horribly here. He wasn’t a good promo to begin with, but whoever wrote that/approved that verbiage needs to be fired.

– Last week, Brandi refused Rosemary’s invitation to join Decay. Rosemary cornered her backstage, Brandi tried to turn her down again, offering her one last chance, Rosemary says that she decides when this is over. Brandi has difficulty acting like a real person; Rosemary was great as always.

– Spud drives Rex to the building in a special golf cart, which includes a carpet for Rex to walk on when he exits.

Brooke vs. Sienna w/Maria: Brooke was all fired up, charging the ring and running wild until Maria distracted her. That allowed Sienna to attack from behind, and take the heat. Maria would get in some cheap shots on the floor, and then distract the ref. Brooke fought back, escaped the AK-47, Brooke then sloppily rolled into what I think was supposed to be a version of the Muta lock, but she just laid on Sienna’s back for a while. Sienna looked to be in mild discomfort as most. Brooke up top, Maria knocks her to the mat. Sienna hit the silencer for the win. Sienna defeated Brooke @ 5:25 via pin [*] This wasn’t very good, and was filled with way too much bullshit with Maria, and the action largely felt off and or clunky. There is nothing wrong with the heel winning with help, but when you do it so many times in such a short time frame, it just takes away from the in ring effort.

– Rex gets his makeup done, Spud yells at the makeup artist and they go over their schedule for the day.

– DCC is out to cash in their challenge briefcase; they claim to run this place, but I think most would dispute that. They challenge decay to a falls count anywhere match.

DCC (Storm, Bram and Kingston) vs. Decay (Steve & Abyss) w/Rosemary: It’s a 3 on 2 match, and they brawled to the floor right away. DCC largely controlled until Abyss fired up and then Steve hit a high cross onto the pile from the stands. Abyss brought out thumbtacks and Steve got a barbed wire board. Kingston low blowed Abyss, but rosemary misted him and Abyss chokeslammed him into the tacks for a near fall. Storm made the save, Bram hit Abyss with a beer bottle and Storm superkicked him into the barbed wire board. Steve tried to fight off all three, but he ate the piledriver through a table. That was that. DCC defeated Decay @ 6:25 via pin [*½] DCC got a much needed win, but this did nothing for me. Taking this kind of punishment and those kinds of bumps in a TV match with no build seems completely stupid to me. If you’re going to ask guys to take that kind of punishment, build up the match as something important. It wasn’t like the action was all that good or heated either.

– Mike and Maria meet with Sutter and discuss his date with Laurel. Maria told Sutter that he was going to propose to her, or bad things will happen to Allie.

– Drew Galloway arrives, claiming that he will make his title mean more than the world title. He has evolved past being a mere man. He is a white knight that returned, and every day is open fight night for him. Moose arrives. Moose says Galloway kicked him in the nuts to win the title, but the next time, you did it on purpose. He calls Galloway a big bitch, but Galloway tells him to calm down and says Moose had his shot, so he is giving someone else a chance. “My opponent is…THIS GUY!”

Impact Grand Champion Drew Galloway vs. Rob Ryzin: You may have seen Ryzin on NXT as enhancement talent Rob Ryzin. Galloway slaps Ryzin and tells him to fire up. Galloway then just beats his ass, working him over with ease. Overhead belly-to-belly by Galloway, Ryzin looks to fire up, eats a stuff piledriver and then the future shock and that is all. Drew Galloway defeated Rob Ryzin [NR] This was a basic heel bait and switch by Galloway to avoid Moose to beat an opponent ho had no chance. It worked for what it was. I like Galloway killing goofs.

– Shane Helms and Trevor Lee arrive. Lee challenges DJZ for a shot at the X-Division title. Lee mocks v for being injured at their hands. Helms calls for a ladder match. Very hellish of them; DJZ limps his way to the ring.

X-Division Champion DJZ vs. Trevor Lee: Lee uses his speed, and tries to attack the leg of DJZ. DJZ uses the ladder to attack Lee, and then manages a slingshot plancha, but he’s too limpy to follow up. Lee attacks the leg, climbs for the belt but DJZ knocks him off. But DJZ just can’t follow up. They trade strikes, and Lee keeps attacking the injured leg, slamming it in the ladder. DJZ keeps fighting, looks to climb, but lee rushes up the ladder and they trade strikes. Lee falls to the mat; DJZ then hits the desperation DDT. Helms gives Lee a chair he hits the bad leg as DJZ tries to climb. Lee then traps the leg with the chair and ladder, Lee climbs and wins the title. Trevor Lee defeated X-Division Champion DJZ @ 6:18 [**] Not much of a match quality wise, but it was a good heel gameplan by Helms and Lee to essentially steal the title. This worked to protect DZJ and in theory put some heat on Lee.

– More with Spud & Rex. Robbie E is there and says that this is the stupidest thing he’s ever seen. Next week, they battle.

– Eli Drake was out for his challenge now. Tyrus says he picked Drake’s opponent, which is EC3. Tyrus mocks EC3 for being hurt; EC3 then shows off the giant bruise on his side from his match with Lashley a few weeks back.

Eli Drake vs. EC3: Drake attacks before the bell, they battle back and forth and then go to a break. Post break, Drake worked over EC3 on the floor to little crowd reaction. Drake got a baseball bat, but EC3 cut him off and took things back into the ring. Drake then worked the lower back, focusing on EC3’s injury. Drake worked the heat, focusing on the side and lower back. It was fine; Drake showed some good aggression but it just sort of existed. EC3 sold the injury and work from Drake well, slowly fought back but Drake cuts him off with a lariat. EC3 then got a jack knife cover out of nowhere to pick up the win. EC3 defeated Eli Drake @ 10:45 via pin [**] This was ok, but never really picked up as it just went on and on. The Drake vs. EC3 feud feels stalled to me, they tried to kick it up a notch here, but it just never clicked with me.

– Post match, Drake and Tyrus beat down EC# with the bat. The DCC arrived and laid the boots to EC3, They then beat up Drake and Tyrus, brawling to the floor. They then hit EC3 with a spike piledriver on a chair.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Tonight’s show wasn’t a bad one overall, but I felt that it was a largely flat one. Outside of the opener, which I really enjoyed, Lee’s evil plan to take the X title and the actual attempt to put some heat on the DCC, the open fight night gimmick didn’t really do much for me, a lot of the wrestling was fine at best, but not much more. Hopefully this is one of those down weeks that sets for next week’s show to be the rebound and pick things back up. This felt like a disappointment following last week’s very enjoyable show, which I had hoped was going to kick off a run of hot shows. Again, I wouldn’t call this a bad show, but I wasn’t really into it outside of the Lashley vs. Hardy match.
