Sasha Banks Is Here To Talk: Sasha Banks made he way to the ring to kick off the show. She got a great reaction as well as some “you deserve it” chants. She feels on top of the world right now, but it wasn’t all that long ago that she was a littler boss with a big dream, watching her hero Eddie Guerrero. She saw Eddie and wanted to be like him. She watched Lita and Trish tear it up and she wanted to be like that and her dreams came true when she won in the main event of Raw last week, She stole the show and is a two time women’s champion. This is for all the women who came before her and for all of the little girls that ant to be like her. Charlotte has a rematch scheduled for HIAC, and she wants it to be inside hell in a cell so that they can again make history. Charlotte started to make her way out and was interrupted by Lana and Rusev. Rusev says that no one cares about the stupid women’s revolution or that they main evented Raw last week. Rusev says he is the main event wherever he goes. Charlotte cut him off and asked him who the hell he thought he was, and said no one disrespects the queen. Charlotte accepted Sasha’s challenge, but Rusev cut her off again and Sasha slapped the mic out of his hand. Lana said that they needed to know their place, because they whine like little girls. They shoved her down and then dropkicked Rusev to the floor. Roman Reigns then made his way out, but Lana pulled Rusev to the floor. The segment ended. This was a pretty good segment overall, as they got to hype two of the bigger matches for the PPV. But I hate that Sasha and Charlotte agreed to their match and then we have to wait for Foley to approve it. I also hate that they worked together only to be put on opposite sides later on. I get why they “got on the same page” here, but I prefer them hating each other and Charlotte taking cheap shots whenever she can.

– Paul Heyman will respond to Goldberg’s ESPN interview tonight.

– New Day made their entrance and Big E threw BootyO’s to the crowd from his tights. They put over famous duos from the area, the Bash Brothers, the Splash Brothers, Danny Tanner and Uncle Jesse. This led to them putting over Cesaro and made fun of Sheamus, calling him hot garbage. They will defend the tag titles against Sheamus and Cesaro at Hell in a Cell.

Cesaro w/Sheamus vs. Kofi Kingston w/Woods & Big E: They went back and forth, with Cesaro sending Kofi to the floor as Sheamus is doing a Facelock live deal at ringside. They both teased dives, and went to the floor. New Day had a face-off with Cesaro as Cesaro wondered where the hell Sheamus was. After the commercial break, Cesaro ht an elbow drop off the top for a near fall. Kofi fought back with the high cross off the top for a near fall. The boom drop followed, Cesaro avoided trouble in paradise and hit a running uppercut. Sheamus is now eating snacks at ringside. Cesaro then hit the running uppercuts on Kofi, the big boot followed and he covered for 2. Cesaro countered the trouble in paradise again, Kofi looked to pick up the offense but slipped off the ropes. Sheamus brawled with Big E and Woods on the floor, Cesaro got distracted and Kofi rolled him up for the win. Kofi Kingston defeated Cesaro @ 7:47 via pin [**½] This was a perfectly solid match, used to further enforce that Sheamus and Cesaro do not get along.

– Mick Foley says that Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks will face Charlotte and Rusev later tonight.

– We get footage of Goldberg’s appearance on ESPN last week.

Bayley vs. Cami Fields: We’re in Bayley’s hometown, so she’s getting a great response. Bayley controlled and had some fun, she then missed a charge, which allowed Fields to get in some sloppy offense. Bayley then went for a sunset flip and went over top and missed Fields. Bayley then hit the Bayley to belly to win the quick, but sloppy match. Bayley defeated Cami Fields @ 2:16 via pin That was not good, at all.

– Post match Dana Brooke attacked Bayley and laid her out as payback for last week.

– Chris Jericho rants on his phone backstage, and R-Truth is there and hears Jericho demanding a “Payday.” Truth has a Payday candy bar and offers it to Jericho. Product placement.

Tony Nese and Drew Gulak vs. Lince Dorado and Sin Cara: Sin Cara announced on the Raw pre-show that he is joining the cruiserweight division. Gulak and Dorado worked a quick back and forth, Nese tagged in and so did Cara. Cara and Dorado worked some quick tags, Gulak then distracted Dorado enough for he and Nese to take the heat. Gulak then worked a variation of the Gory special; Nese tagged in and grounded Dorado. Dorado fought back with a back handspring elbow to both Nese and Gulak and tagged in Cara. Cara ran wild, hitting a springboard moonsault and then a single armed powerbomb to Gulak. He would wipe out Nese with a dive and then Dorado finished Gulak with the shooting star press. Lince Dorado and Sin Cara defeated Drew Gulak and Tony Nese @ 3:11 via pin [**½] They are getting closer to what they need to be doing with the guys, but it was just too short. The guys worked hard and did their bet with what they were given. I am fine with Sin Cara being added to the CW division, but it would have been better if he hadn’t recently been fodder for Braun Strowman. Can we get Neville in here to mix it up with these new talents?

– Mick and Stephanie walk backstage. Stephanie wants to join him for his HIAC address, and compliments his flannel suit.

Mick Foley’s Hell in a Cell Address: Mick and Stephanie discuss the HIACPPV, and say that the women don’t get what they want, but that they get what they deserve. They stole the show on Raw last week and deserve to make history, so Sasha vs. Charlotte will take place in HIAC. As for Seth Rollins, he will get his rematch against Kevin Owens and will also be inside HIAC, making three cell matches for the PPV. Kevin Owens and his best friend Chris Jericho made their way to the ring. Owens says that Foley’s announcement was the stupidest decision he could have made. Owens doesn’t want to be in a HIAC match because he wants a long career and doesn’t want to end up like Foley. Jericho made fun of Foley’s suit and said that they deserve a private jet, while Rollins doesn’t deserve a rematch. Jericho says Foley doesn’t like him and is now taking it out on his best friend. Well, Foley is now, on the list. The list is over. Foley said he was already on the list, but Jericho put him on again. Jericho wanted Stephanie to take care of this, but she babyfaced him and said that he needed to respect Foley. Stephanie then said if Jericho wins against Rollins tonight they he gets put into the HIAC title match.

Owens’ reaction to Jericho possibly being added to the match was priceless, and played off of last week well. They have subtly teasing some tension between them, and that played off of it well. What I didn’t like was that Stephanie and Mick seem to be back on the same page after she cut his balls off and he even mentioned it. They are just best pals and not even mentioning the Triple H thing anymore, which is frustrating. The thing about the women getting the HIAC match is that they need to stop beating us over the head with “we’re making history” and shit like that. Sell it as these two NEED the cell to settle the score for now. I guess it’s hard to do with the HIAC generally being devalued since becoming a yearly PPV.

– Rollins cut a promo backstage, and said that he will not allow the HIAC match to be turned into an episode of Table for 3. He promised to make her plans obsolete once they get to HIAC. He also promised to take the machine down piece by piece.

– Randy Orton and Kane face Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper on Smackdown tomorrow.

– Enzo and Cass made their way out and were doing promo time before their match with Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Gallows and Anderson attacked from behind and laid them out with the boot of doom and magic killer. I guess they’ve dropped the Enzo and Cass vs. Shining Stars feud. I am all for the more serious Gallows and Anderson.

– Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel want a tag match because they were promised one.

Sami Zayn and Neville vs. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel: Dallas worked over Zayn early, working his more aggressive style. Axel tagged in, and continued the beating on Zayn, hitting the dropkick and celebrating. Axel knocked Neville to the floor, but Zayn hit the XPLODER to the corner and then the helluva kick. Neville tagged in, hits the red arrow, finish. Dallas bailed on Axel after the loss. Sami Zayn and Neville defeated Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel @ 2:20 via pin [NR] They seemingly are back on the “lets make Sami Zayn and Neville a team” again. Cole kept pushing it as their debut, but they did tag on the Summerslam pre-show, defeating the Dudleyz. Remember when Sami put on some of the WWE’s best matches of the year? Neither do they.

– Charlotte warns up backstage and Lana arrived. She is upset that Charlotte put her hands on her in the opening segment. Charlotte warned her to stay away, while Lana warned her to stay out of Rusev’s way tonight.

– This was set up on the WWE Facebook page.

R-Truth vs. Titus O’Neil: They brawled a bit, O’Neil yelled at Truth and then Truth danced and hit the leg lariat. O’Neil cut off Truth with a boot and then laid in some rights. Commentary was completely horrible here discussing setting trends and the Titus brand as O’Neil hit some side back breakers Goldust distracted O’Neil by cheering for Truth and stomping on the steps, and Truth rolled him up for the win. R-Truth defeated Titus O’Neil @ 2:11 via pin [NR] It wasn’t long, and it wasn’t very good either. Titus is such a waste of time as an in ring performer, make the guy an ambassador or something and move on already.

– TJ Perkins met with The Brian Kendrick. Perkins is now doing horrible video game speak, like “hit the pause button” and such. He then called Kendrick “greasy Jack Sparrow,” and I did laugh. Perkins says he knows that Kendrick is not a bad guy, but is afraid t lose and drops that he’ll have “no extra lives left.” Perkins then spoke about his N64 breaking and Kendrick buying him a new one. Perkins said that it wasn’t too late for him to be the real Brian Kendrick and they shook hands, but Kendrick went to attack and Perkins stopped him and said he was wrong. I love Perkins’s theme music and entrance, but why have we changed him from “awesome cruiserweight classic winner” to video game speak guy? They had a decent idea here to have Perkins appeal to Kendrick on an emotional level, but the video game speak really ruined it for me.

Braun Strowman vs. Steven and Clay Splash: Strowman requested more competition, and he technically got more as he got two guys to kill this week. Strowman tossed them around, hit a running dropkick to them both and then hit a powerslam and chokeslam and pinned them both. Braun Strowman defeated Steven and Clay Splash @ 1:00 via pin [NR] Strowman kill puny men.

– Strowman was not pleased with this level of completion, and warned Foley to get him real competition next week or what happens will be on his hands.

– Sasha and Roman meet backstage about tonight’s tag match. Sasha said she’d take care of Charlotte, and Roman needed to take care of Rusev.

Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte and Rusev: Rusev and Charlotte argued over who would start the match, with Charlotte tagging herself in and them Rusev tagging back in. Reigns and Rusev finally started, with Rusev taking control early after hitting the spin kick. Reigns battled back, hitting the clothesline and the crowd chanted for Lana. Reigns continued his comeback, hitting the corner clotheslines and big boot. Charlotte distracted Reigns when he went for the Superman punch, Banks over to attack as Reigns sent Rusev to the floor and we went to the break. Post break, Rusev had the heat on Reigns, and I know you’re shocked. Rusev hit the dropkick and that scored a near fall. The crowd wanted Sasha as Rusev continued to beat on Reigns. Reigns finally hit the desperation Superman punch Charlotte and Sasha tagged in. The crowd was into Sasha’s hot tag as she hit a meteora and then the double knees in the corner for the near fall. Charlotte got a roll up, but Sasha rolled into the Banks statement as Reigns wiped out Rusev with the spear and Charlotte tapped. Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte and Rusev @ 9:51 via submission [***] This was a good and fun match, with the ladies getting a great reaction and the match working to hype two of the top matches for the HIAC PPV.

– Owens and Jericho were working on the list as Tom Stupid Idiot Philips arrived. They made fun of him, and Owens promised to leave HIAC as the champion. Jericho then said, “if one of us is champion, both of us are champions” and Owens didn’t look amused. Philips then asked by Owens why he did not help Jericho last week, and Owens said that they talked and sometimes one man had to take the bullet so that the other is strong, because if “one of us is champion, we’re both champions.” Philips… ON THE LIST! The list is very over here tonight.

Paul Heyman Talks: Heyman arrived and promoted Lesnar on the cover of WWE 2k17, and then showed us a video preview, which was video game footage of a Lesnar vs. Goldberg match. He then said that people have been wondering for 12-years if we’d ever see Goldberg again. Heyman says that every bad ass, every new stud, every man that gets on a roll elicits the chants of Goldberg. Heyman put over the legends that Goldberg beat, and conquered. He then compared Goldberg’s career to Lesnar’s, and says that Goldberg is one up on Lesnar, and it keeps him up at night. Heyman has been authorized to offer Goldberg a challenge, for a fight, with Brock Lesnar “anywhere, any place and anytime.” Heyman then said Goldberg can live in the fantasy of WWE 2k17, or he can step into the ring and be beaten, victimized and conquered by Brock Lesnar. In Suplex City, you’re not Goldberg, you’re next. Does anyone else think that the story here is really similar to Rocky Balboa? Anyway, I have absolutely no desire to see a Lesnar vs. Goldberg match in 2016 or 2017, but Heyman did a hell of a job to set it up.

– Emmalima will premiere soon.

Non-Title Match: Champion TJ Perkins vs. Ariya Daivari: Kendrick is on commentary. Daivari didn’t want to shake hands and attacked at the bell. Perkins avoided the charge, but Daivari cut him off. He shot Perkins to the corner Perkins then hit a run up high cross. Perkins then got the knee bar, and Daivari made the ropes. Daivari used the ref as a distraction and took control, connecting with some ground and pound before grounding him with a chinlock. The match was really just there as Daivari worked a bland heat, Kendrick was killing it on commentary as he explained his actions and did it in a way tat made complete sense. He was really good. Perkins fought back, hit the neck breaker and toss up kick, and Daivari kicked out at 2. Perkins up top, Daivari cut him off. He got shoved off the top, Perkins tried for a sunset flip off the top but Daivari sat down and got a near fall. Daivari hit the rolling elbow and then a superkick for a near fall. Daivari missed the frog splash, sold his knee and that allowed Perkins to hit the wrecking ball dropkick and then the knee bar and Daivari tapped. Champion TJ Perkins defeated Ariya Daivari @ 5:15 via submission [**¾] Outside of Daivari getting a bit too much offense for my liking, the match was pretty good; Kendrick was great on commentary, and made the most of his time on the mic.

– Stephanie and Jericho met backstage, and they made nice over scarf talk. Jericho admitted that he almost put her on the list, but he removed it. She says that a Jericho win in a win for Raw, because they can out do No Mercy. She also says that she can’t do anything if Jericho and Owens team up in the cell.

– Goldberg is coming to Raw next week…

Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho: If Jericho wins here, he gets added to the HIAC match for the WWE Title. Jericho threw a scarf at Rollins, who attacked and then rubbed the scarf on his ass. They did a lot of back and forth, Rollins then hit the blockbuster and scored a near fall. Jericho bailed to the floor. Rollins followed and tosses Jericho into the barricades repeatedly. Rollins then sent Jericho to the steps and then the action returned to the ring. Kevin Owens’ music hit and he made his way out. This of course distracted Rollins, allowing Jericho to attack the previously injured ribs as we took a commercial break. Post break, Jericho was working the heat and focusing on the ribs of Rollins. Jericho worked an abdominal stretch, Rollins eventually escaped and hit a flatliner into the corner. Rollins made his comeback and the crowd started to get into things more. Rollins hit a series of corner clotheslines and then sling blade for a near fall. Rollins tried to follow up, but couldn’t lift Jericho due to the ribs, and Jericho went back after the ribs. Rollins managed a back breaker, went up top and Jericho cut that off. Rollins fought off the superplex, sent Jericho to the mat and then hit went for the high cross, but Jericho hit the dropkick to stop that and got a cover for 2. Rollins cut off the code breaker and hit the superkick for a near fall. Rollins hit the knee strike, Owens distracted him and Rollins took him out, spring boarded into the ring and Jericho countered into the walls. Rollins fought for and made the ropes. Owens then hit Rollins with the title, but Rollins kicked out. Jericho missed the springboard dropkick and fell to the floor. Rollins hit a suicide dive onto Owens, back in and Rollins wiped out Jericho with the springboard knee strike for a near fall. Rollins missed the high fly flow, Jericho hit the lionsault and that got a near fall. Jericho went up top, Rollins cut that off and they battled up top. Jericho sent him back to the mat, but jumped into the superkick to the gut, but Jericho countered the pedigree and went for the walls, but Rollins scored with a roll up for the win. Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho @ 19:20 via pin [***½] It felt like it was going the wrong direction in the middle, and then they turned it around and turned this into a really good match. Jericho felt locked in, they teased the possibility of him winning strongly and Rollins managed to overcome the inured ribs and interference to keep his title match a one on one affair.

– Owens attacked post match, Rollins fought back and he bailed. This led to Rollins hitting Jericho with the pedigree as Owens backed up the ramp.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

They did some good work to build to HIAC and to set up the return of Goldberg, but there was also a lot of filler this week. This is another show that if you could prune out that filler, you’d have a much stronger two-hour show. But there's nothing we can do about that. Anyway, this was an overall solid, but bland show from Raw.
