Dean Ambrose is Here to Talk: Ambrose says Jericho wants $15,000 for the destruction of the jacket, which Ambrose mocks and says that they are even because Jericho hit him in the head with Mitch, which killed Mitch. Jericho tried to take everything away from him, so he tried to take everything from Jericho in return. Jericho may think he’s the best in the world, but he’s going to make him think twice about it. Jericho’s music hit, the lights dropped, and when they came back on Jericho was in the ring and had knocked out Ambrose. He then revealed he had a straightjacket and put Ambrose in at as he repeatedly called him a lunatic. He then beat down a helpless Ambrose to very little heat, like a disturbing lack of heat. Ambrose tried to fight back, but Jericho poked him in the eyes and hit the code breaker. Referees tried to make the save, but Jericho hit another code breaker before leaving. This was the follow up to Monday’s angle, but it severely lacked heat and felt like “just another angle” to me. It was fine.

Rusev w/Lana vs. Sin Cara w/Kalisto: This is the expected rematch from Raw, where Sin Cara won for no reason one week after Rusev became the #1 contender for Kalisto’s US Title. Kalisto is on commentary. Rusev attacked right away, beating down Cara and yelling at Kalisto. Rusev continued to assault Cara, laying in boots and rights. Cara managed to make a comeback as Rusev was still yelling at Kalisto. Cara went up top and hit a senton to a standing Rusev for a near fall. Lana threw water on Kalisto, distracting Cara; Rusev then tossed him off the top and laid out Kalisto. The accolade finished Cara. Rusev got his win back, but needed a distraction to do so; there’s your top contender for the US Title. Rusev should have mowed through Cara, who is simply “Kalisto’s buddy” at this point. They have done a horrible job in building Rusev as a contender here.

– Rusev posed with the title and ran down Kalisto post match.

– Renee Young interviewed Emma, and they showed video of Dana Brooke’s debut. Dana then arrived and said that she was beautiful, defiant and a body building champion. She then praised Emma for being the top woman in NXT, and that she was ignored for Becky. Dana said we’d know who she is tonight, because this is her playground and playtime is over.

Dana Brooke w/Emma vs. Becky Lynch: They exchanged rights right away, with Lynch even mocking Dana’s head pat. Lynch missed a charge, allowing Dana to take control and lays the boots to Lynch. Dana worked a short and not that interesting heat, Lynch made her comeback and added some good fire to the match. Dana then tripped Lynch into the ropes, and Emma hit the injured eye and Dana picked up the win with a jackknife rollup. I appreciate the consistency in regards to Emma attacking the eye, but this was just there and I didn’t think Dana impressed all that much. I didn’t necessarily think she did poorly; it just wasn’t very impressive for a debut. I don’t know why Dana had to beat Becky so soon; I guess Alicia Fox was busy not being on TV to use here. I just think a straight up squash where she runs through her signature stuff on someone insignificant like Fox would have been better for her and allow fans to see her stuff. Maybe they will remember that Sasha Banks is a thing, and she will get some TV time and align with Becky again for this feud.

– AJ told Doc and Karl to take care of the Usos tonight, and mentioned if Reigns got near ringside, he’d take care of him.

– We see footage of The Vaudevillains attacking New Day and costing them their match on Raw. They were not happy with The Vaudevillains getting all up in their BootyO’s on Raw, Big E was funny here and Woods said they would make like Doc Brown and knock them back into the future. The Vaudevillains then arrived, and claiming that they were educated real men that outsmart their adolescent opponent. They plan to become the new WWE Tag Champions, adding that the sun will set on New Day and that the night would belong to them.

Kofi Kingston vs. Aiden English: Kofi hit a dropkick at the bell and took control, beating down English in the corner. Kofi used his speed to keep his advantage, sending English to the floor, but when he followed he got posted. English took the heat, and even worked over Kofi right in front of Woods and Big E. Kofi started to make a comeback, hit the high cross and got a near fall off of it. The boom drop followed, Gotch distracted Kofi, which failed as Kofi hit shadows over hell for a near fall. Woods and Big E took out Gotch, and they all got booted to the back. English got a sunset flip counter in the corner, grabbed the ropes, and picked up the win. The match was solid, but unfocused as they were selling the extra-curriculars on the floor. New Day and The Vaudevillains have been largely kept apart in the ring, so this was a simple way to try and add to the build for the tag title match and to give them a win through nefarious means. It was fine overall. Solid work but not enough there to really get you invested in it.

– Roman Reigns tried to motivate the Usos for their match tonight.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. The Usos: Roman Reigns and AJ Styles have been banned from ringside for this match. The Usos used their speed early, working over Karl, but got cut off and Gallows tagged in and worked over Jimmy. Gallows worked big man spots, strikes and big body slams as he beat down Jimmy for a bit. Jey finally got tagged in, the action picked up really well here as it broke down a bit and Gallows finally cut off Jey on the floor, and we worked through the break. Post break, Doc and Karl worked the heat on Jey. They worked a nice heat, including good hope spots and false tags for Jey. After surviving his beating, Jey got the hot tag to Jimmy, who ran wild and had some really good energy. It’s noticeable here especially because most of the show has been lacking it. Jimmy got a great near fall off of the top rope splash; Gallows pulled him to the floor and that got the DQ. They brawled on the floor, and Doc and Karl took over and beat down Jey with chair shots. Doc and Karl celebrated over the fallen Usos, in what was the best segment so far on the show, I wouldn’t call it great, but the match was good and the post match worked well in setting the personalities of Doc and Karl, which is that they will do what they want and do not give a fuck what anyone thinks.

– We get a “make Darren Young great again” video package. Bob Backlund is not impressed with Young’s use of a cell phone for telling time and other such things. He made him do squats.

R-Truth and Tyler Breeze vs. Fandango and Goldust: As expected by everyone with eyes, this led to Breeze and Fandango pairing up, which is finally going to lead to Goldust and Truth teaming up. Goldust and Truth got in the ring as Fandango and Breeze demanded that they fight. Truth tagged out, and Breeze tossed him to the floor. Fandango attacked Goldust and Breeze pinned him right away. They laid the boots to Goldust, Truth tried to make the save but they beat him down as well. Goldust tried to protect Truth, but Fandango and Breeze. It was… something.

– We get a promo for The Colons, the “Shining Stars,” who re-re-re-debut on Raw.

– We get highlights of Charlotte losing to Paige on Raw.

– Renee Young interviews Charlotte and Ric Flair. Charlotte says what happened on Raw was a travesty, he doesn’t get man handled and she is not pleased with the McMahons. Ric then said he taught Charlotte everything he knows, and he will be there is spirit and she will win at Extreme Rules. Charlotte didn’t look all that confident there.

Cesaro and Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens and The Miz w/Maryse: They teased issues with all of the guys; Owens wanting Miz to be a good tag partner but warning him that he will win the title back and Cesaro and Zayn arguing a bit more than you’d thing about who will start the match. Cesaro easily controlled over Miz to begin, we then got some Owens vs. Zayn with Zayn doing well. Miz tagged in, was sent to the floor and Maryse saved him from a Zayn dive. Owens and Miz argued, leading to a Cesaro cannonball and a big dive from Zayn to take us to commercial. Post break, Zayn sent Miz to the floor and followed. Maryse distracted him, allowing Owens to attack. Miz slammed Zayn to the barricade and table, and then took the heat. Miz and Owens isolated Zayn, and worked him over in the corner. Zayn got some good hope spots, hit the blue thunder bomb and that led to Cesaro getting the tag. Cesaro lit up Owens with uppercuts and then hit the running uppercuts in the corner. Great fire from Cesaro here, lighting both Owens and Miz up with uppercuts and then hitting a high cross for a near fall. Miz cut him off as he went for the swing and then Zayn accidentally hit Cesaro with the helluva kick. Owens hit Cesaro with the frog splash and picked up the win. That was a good main event, with some nice heat added to the upcoming four-way.

– Miz beat down Zayn post match, Owens joined in and planted with the pop up powerbomb. Miz then laid out Owens with the skull-crushing finale and stood tall.

* End scene.

* Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good

This was a below average edition of Smackdown, with the only thing you need to see is the Doc and Karl vs. Usos tag and post match along with the main event. While those were the best segments, I wouldn’t exactly call the segments must see TV.
