– Wrestling fans from the Attitude Era remember the infamous moment when Eric Bischoff challenged Vince McMahon to a fight on live TV. The moment happened on the May 11th, 1998 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, when Bischoff — still in the process of trading ratings wins during the Monday Night War — challenged Vince McMahon to face him in a fight at Slamboree the coming weekend.

The fight never happened of course, but Ernest Miller thinks if it had, Bischoff would have come out ahead. “The Cat” appeared on this week’s Bischoff on Wrestling podcast and talked about a variety of issues, which you can listen to below. Among them was the McMahon challenge, which Miller says would have ended with Eric “kill[ing] this old man.”

“Let me tell you this, I worked for Eric for many years,” he said. “I’ve known Eric for many years. I’m not going to sugar coat anything. I’m not going to make anything up. I’m going to tell you it exactly like it is. Vince McMahon goes in to that weight room and, man, he pumps iron. I don’t know if you’ve seen this guy but he’s built like a monster. This guy is HUGE. He’s big, he’s tall, this guy is a beast but Eric would have killed this old man. Eric is real. I see a lot of people that look like they can fight and I’ve seen people who can fight. It don’t always mean you’re going to be on top winning. It means that if you can just wait this little storm over. Just wait him out just like you see with all all the fighters. You don’t have to be on top the whole fight. It’s the heart and Eric has got that heart. I would put my money on Eric.”
