Albert clotheslines Lita from behind after the match and T&A work over the Hardy Boyz. Trish whips Lita with her belt a few times and leaves when the Hardy Boyz recover.
Winners- Hardy Boyz and Lita **** (What a shockingly awesome opener this was. The crowd was molten hot from the get go and it was excellent clash of power vs. high flying and speed. Trish and Lita came off as mega stars and this was the first sign that these two were going to be something special both as seconds to their respective teams and as workers.)

Edge comes up to Mick Foley and says Christian has food poisoning. Foley doesn’t believe him but Edge tells him to get a doctor to check anywhere.

Undertaker arrives on his motorcycle and sees Kurt Angle, so he chases him around the building.

Tazz comes back with a Tazzplex and he goes for the Tazzmission but Snow blocks. Tazz catches him on the second attempt in the Tazzmission and Snow taps.
Winner- Tazz **1/4 (Decent contest but the crowd didn’t care all that much since this was Tazz’s rebuild from his debut and Al Snow had been irrelevant for months prior to this, so in the grand scheme this didn’t do much to help Tazz’s new character.)

Mick Foley brings a doctor into Edge and Christian’s dressing room and he checks on Christian. The doctor says Christian won’t be able to go tonight and Foley apologizes for not believing them.

Triple H and Stephanie are in the locker room and someone brings more flowers into the room. HHH says they aren’t from him and they find a card. The card says “It’s True, It’s True” so HHH assumes they’re from Kurt Angle.

WWF European Championship- Eddie Guerrero © w/Chyna vs. Perry Saturn w/Terri Runnels

Winner and NEW WWF European Champion- Perry Saturn **1/2 (This seemed like an off night for Saturn, he was a little all over the place. Eddie worked hard to keep this together and it ended up being decent, but I know these two had something much better in them. )

Edge and Christian brag about pulling one over on Christian and Mick Foley comes in. Christian runs into the stall and Foley takes a peak. He laughs as he sees Christian dumping stuff into the toilet and he tells them they are busted.

Undertaker says Kurt Angle will need a doctor to remove his foot from his ass. Kurt Angle is seen on Taker’s motorcycle but Taker appears so Angle bails.

WWF Tag Team Championships- Edge and Christian © vs. The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw)
Edge and Christian rip Dallas apart before the match but the Acolytes come out before they can do a five second pose. Bradshaw pumps up Dallas and says they’ll give the fans a night to remember by making the champs their bitches. The Acolytes attack on the floor and Faarooq nails Edge with the steps. Back in, Christian leaps off Edge’s back and goes for an avalanche but Bradshaw catches him. Second rope fall-a-way slam to Christian and Bradshaw hit a big boot to Edge. Power slam to Christian and he hits a spine buster on Edge for 2 as Christian saves. Clothelsine from Hell to Christian and he brawls on the floor with Edge. Dominator by Faarooq to Christian but Edge nails him with a ring bell to prevent the pin fall and get DQ’ed. The champs try to leave but the Acolytes beat them up all the way to the back.
Winners by DQ- The Acolytes *1/2 (All the stuff prior to the match between the promos and the backstage skits were awesome but this match ended up being a one sided ass kicking with a super cheap finish. I wish this got more time as this could have had nuclear heat based on the buildup during the show, so this was a massive disappointment.)

Triple H is freaking out backstage about Angle sending the flowers and Stephanie tells HHH to ask Kurt himself. HHH agrees and leaves.

Undertaker is still chasing Angle but Angle nails Taker in the back of the leg with a wrench.

Val tries to climb out but Rikishi pulls him down and cleans house. Rikishi sends Venis into the cage and he climbs. Venis stops him and follows up. He slams Val’s face off the top of the cage and they crotch each other, sending both men crashing to the mat. Rikishi sends Venis into the cage and he hits a Samoan Drop. Hip Check in the corner by Rikishi and he hits the Bonzai Drop for 2 as Venis gets his foot on the ropes. Trish slams the cage door in Rikishi’s head as he tried to head out and Venis hits a neck breaker. Venis goes up and hits the Money Shot for 2!!! Lita comes out with a belt and she starts whipping Trish!!!! Lita chases Trish to the back and in the ring, Venis starts to climb. Rikishi follows and he slams Val’s head off the cage a few times, sending him crashing onto the ref. Rikishi goes to the top of the cage and HITS A SUPERFLY SPLASH OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE!!!!!!!!! Tazz comes out and he nails Rikishi with a TV camera!!! Venis covers Rikishi for 3!!!
Winner and Still WWF Intercontinental Champion- Val Venis ***1/2 (A shockingly great cage match with Rikishi taking all sorts of crazy bumps for a guy his size and Venis was more than willing to take an ass kicking here. The Rikishi dive is an iconic cage moment and this match is an example of just how great the WWF mid card was at the time when these two put on something like this.)

Triple H orders a staff member to take him to Kurt Angle’s dressing room and he enters the room. Some banging noises are heard in the room and CHRIS JERICHO COMES OUT!!! HHH is left lying.

Shane McMahon comes out and says he’s here to prove he isn’t a pussy. He calls out The Rock to meet him face to face but says he won’t challenge for the WWF Championship because he wants to give Chris Benoit the chance to win the title tonight. He tells Rock to “Just Bring It” and Rock comes out. Rock says he knows that this is a set-up and he asks where Benoit is. Benoit appears on the screen and says he will win by tap out or pin fall tonight to win the championship. He says since he is going to strip Rock of the title, he’ll strip Rock of his clothing. He starts tearing apart Rock’s locker room and Rock heads to the back.

Corner clothesline by Taker and he hits a sidewalk slam for 2. Taker dumps Angle to the floor and Angle drives a wrench into Taker. Angle sends Taker into the barricade and back in, Taker hits some rights. Angle chop blocks Taker and he begins to work the leg of Taker. Taker fights out and they slug it out. Taker goes for a Chokeslam but Angle blocks and goes back to the leg of Taker. Taker is able to escape and he drives Angle’s knee into the mat. They slug it out and Angle throws a kick to the bad leg to end that. Taker throws some shots at Angle and he hits the Chokeslam. Last Ride by Taker gets 3.
Winner- The Undertaker ** (This was a total squash for the Undertaker, as he dominated the match even with the leg injury heading into the match. This did no favors for Kurt who was heading into a title shot at SummerSlam but this didn’t end up hurting him in the long term, so this was just a minor booking snafu but Angle needed a win or at least a good heel performance here.)

Jericho goes onto the timekeeper’s table but HHH goes low and hits a back suplex through the announce table!!!! HHH is up just in time!!!
Winner- Triple H ****3/4 (This was an incredible war, with Jericho’s selling the ribs to perfection and looked fantastic going toe to toe with Triple H. They worked a compelling match in the first half, with the rib work making Jericho look like the most sympathetic baby face in the world and he fought back and eventually landed that one chair shot that turned the tide in his favor and proceeded to beat the living crap out of his arch rival. The finish just didn’t live up to the proceeding match and prevents it from a perfect rating but this is an unbelievable contest, one of the best of 2000.)

Benoit works Rock over and he puts Rock on top. He follows up and hits the superplex for 2. Benoit stomps away in the corner but Rock comes out with a clothesline. Short arm clothesline by Benoit and he grabs a chair. He distracts the ref, allowing Shane to nail the ref from behind with the chair. Winner and Still WWF Champion- The Rock ****1/4 (Awesome main event, with Rock having to fight back against the annoyance of Shane interfering and the intensity of Benoit, who was firing on all cylinders at this point. I’m not a fan of restarts so the finish bugged me but this was a terrific main event otherwise and Benoit made his first WWF main event opportunity count.)

9.0
The final score: review Amazing
The 411
Man, I totally forgot how awesome of a show this was. This was pure Attitude era fun, with backstage skits that actually built up to some of the matches taking place on the show rather than for the sake of filling time and there was some quality wrestling across the board. The opener is an underrated gem of the match and the Jericho/HHH and Rock/Benoit matches were outstanding. There were a couple of below quality matches on the show but everything here at least felt fresh, with new unique pairings that they haven't tried on PPV before. It gave the show a feeling of change, with Angle, Benoit, and Jericho getting chances to feud with the establish stars of Taker, Rock, and HHH and obviously all three turned out to be good additions to the main event scene for the long term. This is an excellent show and one that is a must watch on the Network.
