New York Post Looks at Legendary Andre the Giant Drinking Stories
– Following Gerald Brisco’s interview with the Tampa Bay Times in which he discussed Andre the Giant’s legendary drinking reptuation, The New York Post has posted an article looking at some of the late WWE Hall of Famer’s most famous stories involving his alcohol tolerance. In addition to Brisco’s tale of Andre drinking six bottles of Mateus wine before he would have a match without anyone being able to tell, the Post includes of the following (among others):
* Hulk Hogan told a story in 2014 about Andre drinking 108 twelve-ouncers in forty-five minutes while waiting on a layover in Tampa.
* Princess Bride co-star Cary Elwes recalled Andre drinking “a concoction that consisted of forty ounces of various liquors poured into a pitcher,” adding, “I’ve never tasted airplane fuel. But I imagine it’s very close to what that must taste like.”
* Dusty Rhodes and Mike Graham claimed that Andre’s unofficial record for drinking beers in one sitting was 156 twelve-ounce beers, or 14.6 gallons.
