Reason The WWE Women’s Tournament is Named After Mae Young

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason WWE named the women’s tournament after Mae Young and are branding Young so heavily as a pioneer of women in wrestling, is because they have talked about doing a Mae Young movie project. The film would publicly establish her as the Babe Ruth of women’s wrestling and present her as a women’s sports pioneer.
