Referee Chris Sharpe Thinks Earl Hebner Will Be in the WWE Hall of Fame

September 16, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– Referee Chris Sharpe spoke with WrestleZone radio for a new interview recently. Check out the highlights:

On whether referee’s are losing credibility in pro wrestling because of overturned referee calls in WWE: “As a referee, from a performance stand point, I’ve always felt like the door was open to tell new and different stories with the referee that haven’t been done yet. I don’t feel like the stories right now in pro wrestling are undermining the referee. Referees still have their role and obviously on the shows I think it’s pretty clear to the fans that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H can always over rule the referee. They don’t seem to argue with that. They get it, they’re the big bosses. As a performer it’s pretty cool because we are seeing new stories that we haven’t seen before. So, at least it’s not the same old stuff that we have seen for over 30-40 years.”

On whether Earl Hebner will ever be inducted in to the WWE Hall of Fame: “I feel like WWE will wind up doing that. A lot of the referees that have worked with the WWE over the years had really important roles that we didn’t see on camera. When WWE started to kind of honor those people for that with Hall of Fame inductions. People that were wrestlers that were just kind of good wrestlers but really defined their legacy by becoming an agent. They are doing that kind of stuff more now. So now I think you are going to see that they are recognizing people for more than one reason. Maybe a referee might get in there soon. I think that fence (between Earl & WWE) could be mended. As long as there is money to be made I don’t think either party is not going to do good business. For themselves and for wrestling in general. As long as there is a reason to bring him back and it makes sense. If they had Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels come back and they reenacted something and Earl Hebner came back… that’s something that would light up the internet. It would be talked about and it would make good business sense. ”
