Roddy Piper’s Daughter Says He Taught Fans The Art of the Villain
– Ariel Teal Toombs spoke with ESPN for a new interview discussing the work she and her brother Colt did on their late father’s biography Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story. A couple of highlights are below:
Ariel on working on her father’s biography after his death: “It was just very nostalgic, and we almost got fatherly advice [from him] after the fact when people told stories. I think that we are very blessed, because a lot of times when people have a loved one pass away, they don’t get the chance to learn new things about them.”
Ariel on her father’s relationship with fans as a heel and babyface: “He was one of the most hated villains, and then two years later he was one of the most beloved. That’s something that didn’t happen at the time. People learned to love the art of the villain through him, and really started rooting for the heel.”
