Shinsuke Nakamura Reportedly Taking John Cena’s Role on Smackdown
April 20, 2017 | Posted by
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleZone), Shinsuke Nakamura has been placed in the dark match main event for the last three weeks at the Smackdown/205 Live tapings. WWE reportedly believes Nakamura is a strong enough draw that he will keep the crowd from leaving the arena following Smackdown and before 205 Live. The dark match main event role was previously filled by John Cena, with the feeling that Cena could keep the crowd around for 205 Live; that role is now being filled by Nakamura. WWE currently views Nakamura as one of Smackdown Live’s key babyfaces. He is expected to remain in that position moving forward.
