411’s WWE Smackdown Report 4.23.15

April 23, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

*Kicking things off is the WWE Champion Seth Rollins, alongside J&J Security. Since it’s Smackdown and we have to recap the week, during their entrance we see clips of Randy Orton’s RKO barrage from Raw. Seth is okay with Randy  getting the RKOs out of his system since it is banned on Sunday. He turns his attention to Kane. He calls Kane a jealous, aging former monster, which brings out the Director of Operations. He talks about how he can still Chokeslam Seth to hell, and also has potential to be Seth’s best friend or cost him the biggest match of his career. Seth claims that Kane was given the “guardian of the galaxy” title out of pity. They continue to trade barbs, and Kane wants Seth to lay down for him. Seth scoffs at the idea, but Kane mentions that he does hold the key for the Steel Cage match this Sunday. A referee hits the scene as Kane mentions that it will be a non-title match. Seth Rollins continues to decline the idea until Kane threatens him. Seth, looking like a total bitch, slowly gets down for Kane. Kane says that he is just messing with Seth and wants to know where his sense of humor has gone. Kane decides that Seth should have a match with his old nemesis.

*Remember when this was the hottest rivalry in the company? Until they bitched Dean Ambrose out to Bray Wyatt and had him forget about Seth. Luke Harper appears before things can become official, so Dean charges at Seth. J&J Security, Seth and Harper beat up on Ambrose until Roman Reigns runs out. He lays shots into Harper but his Superman punch attempt is avoided by Seth. Harper eats one as the former Shield members stand tall in the ring.

*Bad News Barrett and Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler and Neville

We get an insert promo from Dolph Ziggler and Neville, who are confident about the upcoming match. Neville is introduced as the “New Sensation”. Sheamus cuts a promo during his entrance about his opponents being undersized. He starts things with Neville, who fires away with kicks to the legs. A dropkick takes down the “Celtic Warrior” before Neville does some impressive flips and uses a head scissors takedown to send him outside. Barrett charges so Dolph pulls the top rope down on him. With both heels on the floor, Neville does a corkscrew dive onto them heading into the commercial break. Returning, Barrett has Neville in a chinlock. Sheamus comes in to cut off the potential hot tag and hits a suplex throw on Neville. Neville is able to get free to hot tag Ziggler in. Barrett also gets tagged, but takes some signature Dolph offense like the corner splash and elbow drop. He avoids the Fameasser, but is nailed with the jumping DDT. Sheamus distracts Dolph, leading to Wasteland, which gets a near fall. Barrett calls for the Bull Hammer but misses. He blocks a superkick and tries the Winds of Change but Dolph counters. He nails the Zig Zag and is pulled outside, but Neville tagged in beforehand. He hits the Red Arrow and that’s a wrap.

*Official Result: Dolph Ziggler and Neville def. Bad News Barrett and Sheamus in 9:04

*Time for a look at the upcoming Tough Enough season. We see some clips of the audition tapes which is always entertaining. There’s one dude who discuss his farmer’s tan.

*As we see the graphic for Rusev vs. Ryback tonight, Bray Wyatt cuts in for one of his promos. He discusses the “strength” of whoever he is targeting. It’s typical Bray stuff.

*Natalya vs. Naomi

Naomi still has her stupid old theme song. We get told that Naomi has replaced Paige against Nikki Bella at Extreme Rules. I guess the Bellas are face now. Nattie blocks a hip toss and hits Naomi with one of her own. Naomi comes back and slingshots Natalya into the bottom rope for two. She moves to a headlock and body slam. She misses her leg drop, but has a very padded landing. Natalya plants her on her ass and dropkicks her for two. Naomi comes back with a nice kick but her next move is blocked and Natalya tries the Sharpshooter. Naomi blocks that and hits the Rear End, before shaking her ass and getting the pin.

*Official Result: Naomi def. Natalya in 2:28

*The Prime Time Players cut another backstage promo. They turn the focus to the Tag Team Champions, dissing Cesaro’s lack of interesting personality. Darren Young reads a poem about Tyson Kidd. It’s pretty damn entertaining.

*Rusev w/ Lana vs. Ryback

Pre-match, Lana cuts a promo about what Rusev did to John Cena this past Monday. Rusev gets on the mic, which he’s always pretty good at, to hype Sunday’s match too. They lock up at the bell, with both guys trying to gain the power advantage. Rusev gives in and delivers a knee. Ryback isn’t down for long though as he backs Rusev into a corner. They end up colliding in the middle of the ring, which looks like it hurts like hell. Ryback busts out a British Bulldog like stalling vertical, causing Rusev to roll outside and regroup. Ryback brings him back in, but gets over zealous and runs into the ring post. They fight outside as we cut to commercial. Returning, Ryback begins to rally, knocking Rusev to the mat. He hits a nice belly to belly suplex for two. He continues to show off some British Bulldog offense with a running powerslam. Rusev ducks the Meathook but takes a spinebuster. Ryback is fired up. Meathook hits this time and Rusev kicks out. He calls for the finish but Rusev is able to wriggle free and escape outside. Rusev hits him in the guy with the Russian chain to cause the DQ.

*Official Result: Ryback def. Rusev via disqualification in 9:56

*After the bell, Rusev locks Ryback in the Accolade with the chain again, before posing in front of the Russian flag.

*Seth Rollins and J&J Security are looking for Luke Harper backstage so they can get on the same page. Seth doesn’t want Harper to eat him. Jamie Noble says that he and Harper are actually family. They bump into him but he just stares into nothing. Harper says pain is his specialty and for Seth to not get in his way.

*Kofi Kingston w/ Big E and Xavier Woods vs. Cesaro w/ Tyson Kidd

Big E cuts a pre-match promo in his preacher voice about the lack of clapping and smiling from the WWE Universe. Xavier and Kofi jump in, and the promo makes me feel like Bo Dallas would be a fantastic addition to this group. Kofi overwhelms Cesaro with an early flurry but Cesaro comes back with an uppercut. Kofi uses Christian’s old corner kick. Cesaro goes for the swing but New Day gets on the apron. Kidd takes Woods down, but is hit by Big E. Cesaro nails Big E, but turns around into Trouble in Paradise.

*Winner: Kofi Kingston in 1:28

*We are shown a video from earlier tonight where Big Show discusses how Roman Reigns is pretty much handed everything and he hates that.

*Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns vs. Luke Harper and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins w/ J&J Security

Before the bell, Kane comes out to ruin things.  Well, he just sits at ringside but still. Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper start off, just beating the hell out of each other. Ambrose gets the upper hand and tags Reigns, who delivers some kicks in the corner. Seth and Dean end up as the legal men, and Dean nalis a back suplex. He then fires off some chops and punches before tagging in Reigns. It’s cool to see Reigns and Dean enjoying the beatdown they can put on Seth. Seth wears down Reigns a bit, but Dean gets the tag and climbs to the top in a very strange way. Seth crotches him and send shim outside, where J&J and Harper get in cheap shots. After a commercial break, Seth has Dean in a rest hold. Ambrose breaks free, but can’t tag as Harper comes in. He hits Harper with a big tornado DDT. Despite this, they continue to work him over. Reigns finally gets the hot tag and does what he does best. He even busts out a tilt-a-whirl slam before an interesting suplex on Harper. Superman punch connects on Harper but Seth breaks the pin. Ambrose elbows Seth from the top before trying a suicide dive on Harper. Harper catches him and slams him into the timekeeper’s area. Reigns clotheslines him and rolls him inside. harper reels off a series of kicks that get him a near fall. Seth flies off the top with a high knee on Reigns that earns him two. Harper nearly takes off Reigns’ head with a clothesline but Ambrose breaks the count. He and Seth get the tags, where Seth gets in some kicks, only for Dean to come back with the rebound lariat. Harper runs in but is sent outside, and so is Seth. Dean goes up top and leaps off with another of his insane elbows, taking out his opponents and J&J. Kane rolls Seth inside where he eats a Spear to end things.

*Official Result: Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns defeat Seth Rollins and Luke Harper in 16:44
