Some WWE Talent Not Happy With Sasha Banks’ RAW Promo
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that some WWE talent was upset with Sasha Banks’ “bad news” promo on RAW this week, feeling it was in bad taste to use the emotion of the real Daniel Bryan retirement speech for an angle.
Career-ending injuries are a sensitive subject for many wrestlers backstage and the report goes on to note that one veteran specifically referenced the Edge retirement speech and Tyson Kidd’s neck injury when discussing this issue. Some made comparisons to the Mark Henry fake retirement speech, but since that wasn’t based on an injury, it was thought of differently. Many friends of Bryan and Kidd felt the Banks speech was not appropriate, but most of the heat backstage was placed on creative, not Banks.
Here’s a video of the segment from RAW.
