TNA News: More Details on Proposed ROH Alliance, Why NJPW Deal Ended, More

July 6, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– As reported last week, TNA had pitched the idea of working with ROH earlier this year. The plan was to have a top ROH talent come in, attack a top TNA babyface and then put over the TNA talent at a TNA show. Obviously, that never happened.

– PWInsider reports that TNA’s dealings with New Japan a few years ago came to an end for a variety of reasons. The site says that there is “an assumption” that Vince Russo’s involvement with TNA helped to kill the deal, but that there were other issues to. Notably mentioned are the situation back in 2010 when Team 3D were the IWGP Tag Team champions. New Japan needed them for a tour, but TNA refused to send them as they needed the team for an angle on Impact with the Nasty Boyz. This largely turned New Japan against the idea of working further with TNA, along with the promotion’s usage of Kazuchika Okada as the Okato, a play on Kato from The Green Hornet.

– TNA will be taping more One Night Only PPVs during their taped shows taking place from July 22nd through the 28th.
