Triple H Denies Rumor About Mickie James At NXT Takeover
Triple H took part in an NXT Takeover media conference call this morning. He claimed that reports of WWE originally wanting Trish Stratus to fight Asuka at Takeover: Toronto next week were false. The rumors stated that Stratus was pregnant with her second child, so Mickie James was selected as the company’s second choice. He wanted more time for other women in NXT to grow as performers. That’s why Mickie is fighting Asuka. He also said that Mickie was skilled and could handle it.
He added: “I’ve seen the rumors out there about other people being attempted to be grabbed for [Mickie’s spot]. I felt like [Mickie] and Asuka would tear it up. I want to re-inforce that Mickie was not the consolation prize for us in anyway. She is the person that we went at.“
