Update on WWE Scrapping Plans for Sting at Summerslam

July 30, 2015 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

As previously reported, it appeared earlier that there were plans to book Sting in a tag team match at Summerslam this year involving Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt. However, it then later appeared that those plans were no longer in place. The Wrestling Observer and PWInsider have revealed an update regarding Sting originally being set to work a match at Summerslam were apparently scrapped.

Per the report, the plans that were originally in place had Sting teaming with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against The Wyatt Family. Sting was even reportedly in very good shape for the match. However, Sting was later told that the plans had changed and he would not be used for a match at the PPV.

The report claims that the reasons are currently unknown why the plans were changed for the event. The idea was to team up Sting with Reigns because WWE was concerned that New York City would be a tough crowd for Reigns to get a strong face reaction from the live crowd.
