WCPW Announces Names For Pro Wrestling World Cup Japan Qualifier
WhatCulture Pro Wrestling has announced the first four wrestlers for the Japanese qualifying tournament for the 2017 Pro Wrestling World Cup. These include Jushin Thunder Liger, KUSHIDA, Bushi and Hiromu Takahashi. Four more names will be announced soon. The show happens on July 9 in Manchester, England. The Japanese portion is run in association with New Japan Pro Wrestling and their UK partner RevPro. The Pro Wrestling World Cup will feature 64 wrestlers in 8 preliminary events worldwide.
The England qualifier happened on March 21, with Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr. advancing. The Scotland qualifier featured Drew Galloway and Joe Coffey advancing, although Galloway has since returned to WWE. There are also events scheduled for Mexico (April 30), Canada (May 14), Germany (July 2), the US (TBA) and the rest of the world (TBA). You can watch all of the matches from the England show on the WCPW Youtube channel for free, along with bonus matches like Drew Galloway vs. Ricochet and ROH Champion Christopher Daniels vs. El Ligero.
