Wrestling’s 4Rs: The Right, Wrong and Ridiculous of WWE Smackdown
How the 4Rs of wRestling Work!
Here is a quick explanation of the 4R’s. The column will run TWO-THREE times a week. We will group our feelings on the shows in various categories: The Right, the wRong and the Ridiculous. The Right is stuff that worked very well: a great promo, a great match and so on. PuRgatoRy is a section between the right and wrong. It shows equal traits from both sides that cannot be ignored and needs discussed. It is not a bad place per say, as things can get remedied or go the wrong way the very next week. The wRong is what it sounds like: bad matches, bad or boring promos and so on. The Ridiculous is stuff that had no right on TV: Stupid angles and so on. And there is always a possibility of a 5th R, which is as bad as they come. This column is supposed to be analytical, and at the right time very critical of the shows, it was the whole reason it was created. This is not a “mark” column, nor a “smark” column, our goal is to analyze the show from many different fronts, reward the good and call out the bad. We will not apologize for our opinions, they are as they are, whether positive or negative.

THE Right:
KO/Zayn Video Package: This video package was AMAZING. I am aware of these two and their long time feuding, but I wasn’t privy to it as it was going on over the years. For someone like me it was amazing to see this package that puts it all in such great perspective. Bravo WWE for giving the casual fan a reason to care about this match going into Payback.
Baron Corbin Vs. Sandow: WWE is doing a great job of protecting Corbin at this point. His feud with Dolph is very basic, yet very old school. It’s not my favorite thing going on right now, but I can appreciate it.
AJ Styles: I appreciated the slight edge of his backstage interview. The line about stepping on Roman’s cape when he wants to was great. I appreciate that he’s showing that he’s not someone who can be pushed around…I just hope he doesn’t turn heel just yet.
Ambrose Asylum: Ambrose proves once again why he is one of the best WWE has to offer today. I appreciated his anger that he showed prior to starting this week’s interview. That’s something that is sometimes lost in his sarcasm. I’m for giving Ambrose the mic as much as WWE possibly can. In addition to that, Charlotte is growing as a heel on the mic, I appreciated her delivery. Nattie on the other hand just doesn’t seem natural.
The New Day: The New Day on commentary were not only entertaining, they were better than the entire Raw commentary…and that’s a problem. But…it was great. I’d like to see that happen more often.
Greetings from Puerto Rico: I finally understand that these two will (or at least should be) heel. That’s the progression I was looking for.
puRgatoRy:
Opening Segment: I felt like this was nothing more than a waste of time, and an excuse to set up a match for the night. The segment wasn’t bad…it just wasn’t good either. Pointless.
League of Nations: This whole thing seemed to come out of nowhere. The backstage segment felt like just a reason for the match. Add to that, the anger among the three during said match, and Del Rio and Rusev abandoning Sheamus seemed to come out of nowhere. Curious where it will go though.
Goldust and R-Truth: I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it until I see some progression. This eventual teaming of Goldust and Truth is just taking too long. There isn’t enough substance there to drag it out this long.
THE wRong:
Nothing
THE Ridiculous:
Nothing
