UPDATED: WWE Considering Keeping the Title on Lesnar? (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

March 18, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

UPDATE: The Wrestling Observer released some new information regarding Brock Lesnar’s current contract status with the WWE. Previously, Reddit user and alleged WWE insider MetsFan4Ever claimed that Lesnar was close to signing a new contract and that Triple H was pushing for Lesnar to retain the title at WrestleMania 31. The Observer has released a conflicting report saying that Lesnar has not yet signed a new contract.

In addition, the report claims that the negotiations between Lesnar and Vince McMahon are in the same state as when Lesnar and McMahon had their backstage blow-up at Raw recently. The unknown issue has still not yet been resolved between the two. However, WWE officials are hopeful Lesnar will re-sign very soon. They are hoping to get him signed to a new contract by next Monday’s Raw in Los Angeles, California.

ORIGINAL: Reddit user MetsFan4Ever doesn’t have a perfect record as a source, so take this with more than a few grains of salt. But the WWE insider, who has broken legit stories in the past, took to Reddit to reveal potential plans for WrestleMania 31 which include keeping the WWE World Title on Brock Lesnar.

The user reports that Lesnar is “very close” to agreeing on a new contract and that Triple H is pushing Vince McMahon to keep the title on him due to Reigns’ lack of popularity.

This would also have ramifications for the second-tier titles, as keeping the title on Lesnar would mean he remains a “special attraction” and wouldn’t appear regularly. Triple H has been allegedly trying to make the United States and Intercontinental Titles meaningful again and the idea would be to put those titles on Cena and Bryan at WrestleMania, giving them two legit big names who could bring legitimacy to both titles and main event house shows defending the belts.

It is specifically noted that this plan is just one of many being discussed, but that it is a possibility.
