WWE Issues Statement Defending Company Doctors in Response to CM Punk

November 27, 2014 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– WWE has issued a statement in response to growing coverage of CM Punk’s shoot interview early this morning. Yahoo! Sports posted an article focusing on Punk’s criticism of the company’s medical practices, where he said that he was pressured by WWE officials to return to the ring while injured. He had focused most of his attention on WWE Senior Ringside Physician Chris Amann, saying he misdiagnosed an MRSA infection he had on his back for months as a “fatty deposit.”

WWE issued a statement in response to Yahoo! for the article, saying, “WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon.”

It is perhaps noteworthy that there is no mention of Dr. Amann in the WWE statement.
