WWE News: American Grit Season Premiere Ratings, Promo For Cena’s Smackdown Return
– John Cena’s American Grit premiered poorly for its second season on FOX. The season two premiere of the reality competition series scored just a 0.4 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic and 1.12 million viewers for the night. That’s way below the 0.8 for the first season premiere, though it must be noted that the first season aired on a Thursday and premiered much earlier in the year, in April. Summer viewing is traditionally much lower for the networks.
The show was destroyed in its timeslot by the competition, which was led by the Stanley Cup finals game on FOX (2.1 demo rating/7.063 million viewers) followed by ABC’s The $100,000 Pyramid (1.2/5.547 million) and the last hour of the Tony Awards on CBS (0.8/5.329 million).
– Speaking of Cena, WWE posted the following promo for his July 4th return to Smackdown:
