411’s NWA:TNA Xplosion Report 08.08.04

First off, I want to give a plug out to a nightclub that loves 411; The Deco Nightclub in Philadelphia, PA. I had a great time there two weeks ago, admittedly missing TNA in favor of getting a different dose of TNA in the form of their weekly bikini contest. My only advice to give is to not show up until 11:30 or so, as it is dead before then.

Jason Rumble & Sonny Roselli vs. 3 Live Kru – Wow. These two jobbers don’t really fit together. what truly sucks is that we’re not even getting a good 3LK combination. Yep, it’s Konnan and BG James set to square off against Rumble and Roselli. Rumble and Konnan lock up, and it’s the usual to start. Konnan is just so unimpressive and lazy here, not even bothering to move into place properly for a trip. Brief submission hold by Konnan leads to the rolling clothesline. Rumble tags in Roselli, who may be overestimating his worth by having * * on the back of his tights. Roselli backs James up into the corner, and misses an open hand slap. James ducks under a clothesline, and it’s SHAKE, RATTLE, & CLAP time. Konnan in with a dropkick to the back. In a very heel-like move (meh, who cares, it’s Xplosion), Ron Killings pops into the ring with a top rope legdrop to Roselli’s crotch while the referee is trying to hold Rumble back. That whole tripleteam is deemed worthless five seconds later, as Roselli gets a leg lariat in that puts James down. Fatty fat fat covers for two. Roselli tags in Rumble, who winds up springboard dropkicking Roselli by accident. With Konnan already in the ring, James tags him in. That doesn’t make sense. But then again, meh, who cares, it’s Xplosion. Terrible, terrible, terrible move as Konnan throws Rumble up into the air off a whip. Since Konnan can’t be bothered to bring Rumble down to the mat once he’s up in the air, Rumble has to Carpet Munch himself, which looks just terrible without another man driving your head down. Roselli clotheslines Konnan while James is taking care of Rumble. Roselli misses a top rope splash. Tequila Sunrise to Roselli, and that’s it at 3:10. Maybe I missed a dash on Roselli’s tights, as thanks to his opponents, this was a -** match.

Scott Hudson’s interview with Michael Shane and Bobby Kazarian is shown, with Shane stating that they will never wrestle each other.

“Mr. Xplosion” Nate Webb & Eric Darkstorm vs. Triple X – Don West says that this is Nate Webb’s 57th Xplosion appearance, which I’m fairly sure is a bit of an embellishment. And since I’m in a good mood today, I won’t insult TNA for stripping Elix Skipper of, well, the name Elix skipper. Darkstorm, who I’m noticing has hobbit ears, starts with Daniels. Darkstorm and Daniels trade holds, with Darkstorm hiptossing Daniels to end the sequence. Daniels hops right back up with a dropkick. Tag into Primetime. Triple X hit a double hiptoss for Darkstorm. Nate runs in only to get slammed by both men. Primetime snapmares Darkstorm, and a swift boot to his back gets two. Darkstorm catches Primetime with a clothesline that gets two. Nate Webb tags in, and hits a decent backwards springboard headscissors. Primetime catches Webb’s boot, who flips out, lands on his feet, and gets Primetime with a nice spinkick for two. Darkstorm tags in, and immediately goes to a full nelson. He turns that position into an elbowdrop. And yes, it’s the return of WHAT THE FUCK CLIPPED??? Wow, it’s been months since that’s happened. Primetime makes a hot tag to Daniels. Flying forearms and clotheslines for both of his opponents. Enzuguri/shining wizard move to Darkstorm. Primetime brings Webb up over his head, and Daniels goes off the top rope with a fistdrop. Powerplex (aka, the Villano Breaker, a powerbomb/neckbreaker combo that broke the neck of Villano IV back in 1998) to Darkstorm scores Triple X the win at 3:25.

Scott Hudson’s interview with The Naturals is shown. I love these guys, and I really hope they stick around the PPVs after they lose the Tag Titles to whoever wins the Best of Three series between Triple X and America’s Most Wanted.

Clips of Vince Russo announcing the three participants in his committee, complete with Dusty Rhodes, Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, Monte/y Brown, and Ron Killings coming out to complete the circle jerk. Thank God they clipped this, as while I don’t think it was as bad of a segment as many on the net, it really did last to long.

Scott Hudson’s interview with Scott D’Amore and the rest of Team Canada. They must really be running over time this week, as not only was the last match clipped, but they also cut D’Amore’s interview off after a few sentences.

Video to hype the Raven/Sabu feud. The music playing in the background was a tad bit inappropriate.

Chance Prophet vs. Monty Brown – Okay, so they’re spelling with a “Y” this week. Monty just absolutely pounds away on Prophet to start. Monty powerslams Propet to the floor. Monty throws Prophet into the crowd, and they brawl out to the old SEX dressing room. Suplex onto the bleachers for Prophet. Ouch. Monty carries Prophet back to the ringside, only to slam him on the floor. Monty throws Prophet back into the ring. Fallaway slam into a powerbomb, aka the Alpha Bomb, and that’s it at 1:20. The crowd is actually chanting for you know what, and Monty delivers it. POOOOOOOOUNCE! Prophet didn’t even get a punch in, and I loved it.

If you hadn’t noticed it, I’ve decided to start spelling Monty’s finishing move correctly to coincide with his slight change on how he pronounces the word. Yes, I know, epic news.

Tomorrow night on PPV, you will see…
Lots of hype for the upcoming World Title match between Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Hardy.
With stars like X Divisions co-champions Kazarian and Michael Shane, AJ Styles, Kid Kash, Amazing Red, Jerry Lynn, Petey Williams, and Psychosis competing, there’s no telling who will come out on top in the 20 Man International X Division Gauntlet Match.
America’s Most Wanted and Triple X will face off in the first match of a Best of Three series between the two teams to determine the new #1 Contender to The Naturals’ TNA Tag Team Titles.
3 Live Kru, and hopefully the combination that lacks Konnan, will take on Team Canada to determine who will get a Tag Title shot in the future.
In yet another Contract vs. Money match, Alex Shelley will face Desire’s mystery man.
David Young was told that he was not needed last week by Vince Russo, and if he doesn’t beat Glenn Gilberti this week in what is being coined the Final Gutcheck Challenge, he’ll never be seen in TNA again.
