Red Velvet Says Billie Starkz Lit Fire Under Her In ROH Death Before Dishonor Promo
Red Velvet says that she was pretty much done with wrestling before Billie Starkz ignited her fire for the ring. Velvet is set to face Starks for the latter’s ROH Women’s Television Championship at Death Before Dishonor, and she posted a promo to her Instagram account where she talked about how Starkz reignited her motivation to compete.
“A couple months ago, I was done,” Velvet said (per Fightful). “I was done with wrestling. I was done with the idea of wrestling. I had this sense of unworthiness, not feeling good enough. Then you came along, Billie, with your child’s play and your mind games that children play and telling me that I’m not good enough and that I’m clawing and I’m barely holding on and what have I achieved and that I haven’t achieved anything because i haven’t had gold around my waist. You’re right, I haven’t had gold around my waist but I’ve come to realize that just because you want to knock me down doesn’t erase the accolades that I’ve accomplished in the four years that I’ve been with AEW and now Ring Of Honor. First ever main event of Rampage. First ever Rampage against Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. Welcome back. That was me. First woman to stand across the ring from Shaquille O’Neal in a mixed tag match. That was me.”
She continued, “So you know what? Thank you. Thank you because you lit a fire under me and you actually reminded me of my why and the reason why July 26th and new, Ring of Honor TV Women’s Champion, Red Velvet. Why it’s going to be me and not you. You know why? Because along the way, Billie, you lost your heart. Your heart, your integrity, and your grit when you became a follower and a minion. I had respect for you. I really did. But then you decided to think that it was smart to come after me. Do you know who I am? The hardest worker in the room. The first to show up and the last to leave, and not you or anybody else is going to ever put doubt in my head. July 26, Arlington, Texas, in my new hometown, in front of my entire family, it’s my time. It’s my moment to finally show you and everybody else, but most importantly, myself, that I am what Ring of Honor’s needed all along, the secret ingredient. Unlike you, I’m gonna defend that title with integrity, honor, and respect. So from now till then, that’s you. I’m dumping all of it in the trash. Your comments, your internet minions, insecurity, sense of unworthiness, and while we’re at it, I’ll hop to your title ring. I’m not going to knock and say you’ve had a bad one, but you haven’t gone against me while holding the belt and you haven’t beat me. So you’re going to have to come up with a better plan because I’m on a whole nother level, baby. You want to sit here? You want to come try me come July 26th? You’re about to find out.”
ROH Death Before Dishonor takes place on July 26th and will air live on Watch ROH.
