Robbie E. Discusses His New Podcast, Future in the Ring and Friends in NXT
– Robbie E. spoke with WrestleZone for a news interview discussing his new podcast, his future in the ring and more. Highlights from the interview are below:
On his new “Why It Ended…” podcast: “The concept is that I wanted something different. I feel like a lot of wrestlers are on the same shows and you’ve heard them a million times. It’s just kind of the same stuff. I want guys on that have vanished or that people have forgotten about. I want people going, “Oh man! I remember that guy! Whatever happened to him? I want to hear his story.” I am getting guys that may have been on TV for three weeks or six months. Maybe around in like 1982 for a year? Whatever! I want guys that aren’t really hitting the circuit hard and aren’t at conventions.”
On choosing Glacier as his first guest: “We have a lot of ideas of who we want but we wanted the first one to pop a bit. We wanted people to go, “Wow!” and I think Glacier is that. Even though his run wasn’t so long I think if you are a wrestling fan from the late 90s everybody remembers Glacier. Whether you thought it was a joke or thought it was cool… everybody remembers that crazy entrance and everything. I thought he was a good one to have everyone asking, ‘What the hell ever happened to that guy? What was that story?'”
On how he thinks TNA’s issues compared to WCW’s: “I think they were equal in disorganization but in different ways. I don’t think WCW and the people in charge of WCW changed as often as TNA. In TNA they were literally changing every few months. I don’t think WCW’s management changed that much. The cool thing about WCW was that there was just a hell of a lot more money being thrown around. I don’t think anyone cared that much! Please give me one of those hang out and wrestle a few times a year for a lot of money contracts!”
On his future in the ring: “My body can still go and I want to wrestle somewhere full time. I think Robbie E still has things to offer not just the wrestling world but also the world in general. I expect in the next year to pop up somewhere full time as a wrestler on your tv.”
On the possibility of following other former Impact Wrestling talent to NXT/WWE:
On his friends going to WWE or NXT: “Yeah, you know Bobby Roode and Eric Young are two guys that I am really close with. I traveled with them for years. They are my closest friends there but you’ve seen Joe, Aries, EC3 and a few more have done runs in NXT.”
