Recently, there have been some teasers online for a new project in the Alien franchise. Today, FoxNext Games and D3 Go revealed the project has a new mobile video game, Alien: Blackout. Additionally, a new currently untitled MMO shooter set in the Alien Cinematic Universe is also currently in development for consoles and PC.

The new premium survival horror mobile game is being developed by Rival Games and Theory Interactive. The game will continue the story of Amanda Ripley, who previously appeared in the acclaimed title Alien: Isolation. In Blackout, Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, is trapped on a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station that’s carrying a Xenomorph creature.

For Alien: Blackout, players will have to balance the controls of the space station’s emergency systems to attempt to guide their crew to safety and avoid contact with the Xenomorph. The game will feature increasingly challenging levels. Players will be forced to make life or death decisions that could permanently alter the ultimate outcome of the game.

Alien: Blackout is due out for release on iOS and Android devices later this month. It’s currently available to pre-order at the App Store and Google Play. The game will also be available at the Amazon Appstore at launch.

Some fans who have been waiting several years for an Alien: Isolation sequel might not be as enthusiastic about a follow-up coming out for mobile platforms. However, today’s announcement from FoxNet did add that a new massively ultiplayer online shooter set in the Alien Cinematic Universe is also in the works from FoxNext Games and Cold Iron Studios. The game is being developed for consoles and PC.

20th Century Fox is also said to be partnering with a “wide range of storytellers and innovators for more entries of Amanda Ripley’s story that will be announced later this month. So, it appears this latest announcement is just one of multiple projects for a transmedia efforts surrounding the Alien franchise and Amanda Ripley.

An official reveal trailer for the Alien: Blackout game was also released, which you can see in the player below.
