Apex Legends is bringing together its largest collection of competitive talent yet for a $500,000 prize pool tournament in September. Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment announced on Tuesday that the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational will run from September 13th to the 15th in Kraków, Poland. The tournament will feature 80 three-person teams from around the world competed in a bracketed tournament to claim their portions of the prize pool.

The Invitational will be a double-elimination bracket tournament, with teams’ performances in each round determining whether they continue in the winners bracket, fall to the losers bracket, or are eliminated from the tournament, until the final 20 teams are left to compete for the title. Teams can apply by emailing [email protected] and including their Origin ID and associated email address.

“When we started the EA Competitive Gaming Division, we had a vision to Make Stars of All Our Players as we build an entertainment spectacle that captivates millions of players and spectators,” said Todd Sitrin, SVP and GM of the EA Competitive Gaming Division. “Today we officially expand EA Competitive Gaming through the addition of Apex Legends, owner of one of the biggest game launches in history that continues to be powered today by a passionate global community. The Apex Legends Preseason Invitational is the key next step in our esports journey.”

“Competition is in the DNA of Apex Legends and this competitive event will showcase the game at its highest-level,” said Chad Grenier, Design Director at Respawn Entertainment. “This Apex Legends Preseason Invitational advances our vision towards a robust competitive experience with the community at the center. We continue to explore all the entertaining ways both players and spectators can experience Apex Legends and look forward to bringing this event to life.”

The full rules and eligibility guidelines for the Preseason Invitational can be found here. Each team’s roster must be confirmed by the end of September 2nd (PST), after which rosters will be locked.

Details on how fans can watch the tournament or attend in-person will be announced soon.
