343 Industries has announced some big news for Halo fans. The company announced today at the 2017 Halo Summer Celebration (via Polygon) that Halo 5: Guardians will get a 4K upgrade on the Xbox One X. In addition, four previous Halo titles are being given backward compatibility on the Xbox One, with every Xbox 360 map in the Xbox Store to be available for free.

The Halo games being made backward compatible are Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. All four games will feature their original campaigns and multiplayer modes as well as support for LAN play, including play between Xbox One and Xbox 360 devices.
