Loot Corner: June Loot Crate, Loot Anime Review

July 12, 2017 | Posted by Adam Larck

Welcome back to Loot Corner. This month, Loot Crate is all about Alter-Egos, while Loot Anime wants you to Rise Up.

Like always, you can sign up for Loot Crate or Loot Anime by clicking here. While Loot Crate is normally $13.95 a month and Loot Anime is $24.95 a month, if you use that link you’ll save $5 your first subscription.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the newest crates.

June Loot Crate – Alter-Ego

We have more heroes this month with the latest crate on Alter-Egos.

Continuing what seems to be a monthly Q-Fig trend, this month collectors get a Spider-Man Webslinger variant. With Spider-Man: Homecoming recently releasing, it’s a great nod to the movie. Plus, I love how it came bundled, looking like a newspaper headline and featuring the black and white motif. We’ve had a lot of Q-Figs recently, but they have all been really well done, such as last month’s Rocket Racoon Q-Fig.

For the shirt, we’re rolling out with an Optimus Prime shirt. Again, tied to the recent movie, the shirt shows Prime going from vehicle to full robot form. While not as soft as some of the previous shirts, it’s still a great shirt to add to the collection.

Going back to Marvel, we have a Hulk bowl, perfect for a bit of cereal, or even to put some Halloween candy in a few months. The hand around the bowl really helps give it that Halloween feel.

Finally, we have a poster collection from The New 52 DC Comics universe.  The posters, 40 in all, are a collection of some of the most memorable covers that recently appeared on the comics. I found some great Green Lantern ones in there, so I really ended up enjoying this one.

The box wrapped up with a Jeckyll and Hyde pin, the normal monthly magazine and the recently added Key puzzle pullout. Overall, this was a great box for hero fans, but those that like more of the other genres, such as sci-fi or horror, may not have enjoyed it as much as I did.

June Loot Anime – Rise Up

Rise Up was an interesting choice for the month as, except for the T-shirt, the month was based around mechs. However, to get a bit of a newer series in, this was probably the only way to do it.

The shirt in question comes from Blame!, currently available on Netflix. Featuring Killy, It’s a pretty basic shirt, but a nice design given the series.

Instead of a manga this month, we actually get an artbook from Gurren Lagaan. The book has more than 130 pages of art from the series, including covers from the manga, anime and more.

For the soft, fun item of the month, we have mini-plush figures from Evangelion. Boxes contained either Asuka, like mine did, or Rei. However, the other version will be available on vault.lootcrate.com after July 15. It’s a fun little plush figure for series fans.

The interesting piece this month comes from Knights of Sidonia in the form of a cell phone stand. The stand is actually two pieces that slide together and does provide a good stable stand for a phone. However, I wish there was a slot at the bottom of the stand to put a charging cable in when needed. Still, this is a great idea and addition to the crate.

Finally, we have a big pin featuring the Voltron head. This isn’t the first time the team has featured Voltron in recent months, last featuring it in Loot Crate, but pin collectors will definitely enjoy this larger pin.

The charm this month is a cat mech, which also features in the poster as well. Overall, this was a nice, diverse box on bots, although anime fans that aren’t keen on mechs may be disappointed on the items beside the shirt.
