Loot Corner: May Loot Crate, Loot Anime Review

June 22, 2017 | Posted by Adam Larck

Welcome back to Loot Corner. After a missing box by the mail service, this month, we going to with a Guardians theme with Loot Crate, while Loot Anime goes Unnatirual.

Like always, you can sign up for Loot Crate or Loot Anime by clicking here. While Loot Crate is normally $13.95 a month and Loot Anime is $24.95 a month, if you use that link you’ll save $5 your first subscription.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the newest crates.

May Loot Crate – Guardians

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting in May, what better time than to make the box focus on Guardians.

The centerpiece of the box is definitely the Rocket Raccoon and Young Groot Q-Fig. The combo figure looks great, lining up perfectly next to Dr. Strange, Hulk, Jessica Jones and Deadpool. The Q-Figs are becoming a semi-mainstay in Loot Crate, and I’m starting to grow more attached to them as time goes on.

The monthly shirt actually comes from The Goonies, with a “Goonies Never Say Die” shirt. For fans of the movie, this is a great way to show off your love for it on the go. Personally, not a huge fan, but it does fit nice and is pretty soft, so it’ll find a place in the closet for a while.

For the artsy out there, we have a miniature version of the Star Wars coloring book, complete with a few color pencils. The book has 30 images to color, including some Mandela designs based around the universe and more. It’s a great way to quickly pass the time.

Finally, for Destiny fans waiting for the sequel we have three Destiny patches, one for each class. I’ve never been a huge patch fun and, while they do look nice to display or put on a jacket, I think another collectible may have been better here. Why not a mini Guardian to display, or a ship model?

Overall, it’s a pretty nice set of items this month. I’m liking getting these Q-Figs more regularly, and the coloring book is perfect to multitask with during binging marathons.

May Loot Anime – Unnatural

After last month’s Attack on Titan-heavy crate, I was looking forward to something new this month. However, a lot of the items again seemed to just not resonate with me.

I do have to start with my highlight of the box, the Death Note glow-in-the-dark mug. The mug, starting Ryuk the Shinigami, is a great follow to the Batman mug from last month’s Loot Crate. While I may not drink a ton of mug drinks at night, the glow is still great to see once the lights go off.

For the shirt we have Mob Psycho 100. To be honest, I know little about this series. However, I do have to admit that it’s a pretty unique design, and definitely eye catching when going out for a walk.

This month’s manga is an oldie, bringing back Parasyte Vol. 1. I remember reading some of this manga years ago. However, for a generation that probably knows nothing about it, making Parasyte the manga of the month is a great fit for being Unnatural.

The other wearable this month comes from Noragami, another series I know nothing about. After a bit of research, I found out the hat is modeled after Rabo’s hat. While the hat is nicely made, and definitely draws attention, it just isn’t my thing when compared to other items that past crates have featured.

Overall, the choices really fit the Unnatural theme this month, but maybe something other than the hat would have been a better feature. Maybe a focus on an unnatural being or event. Honestly, something from Deadman Wonderland, Assassination Classroom or another series could have been a fun fit here, but overall it was a good crate.
