The blue bomber is finally set to make his return to consoles. Capcom today officially announced during a special Mega Man livestream event the upcoming release of Mega Man 11. The game is currently in development as a multi-platform release later in 2018.

Mega Man 11 will coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary of the first Mega Man game released in 1987. The new game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. Per Capcom, Mega Man 11 is currently being developed by a “veteran development team” at the company. It will feature “tight side-scrolling gameplay” that the series is popularly known for and will Capcom.

According to Capcom, this new official entry into the franchise will be a great entry point for new players but also retain the franchise’s signature challenge along with a variety off difficulty options. The new announcement trailer for the game also revealed the new 2.5 design direction, along with modern graphics featuring hand-drawn characters and environments.

In Mega Man 11, Rock (aka Mega Man) will take on Dr. Wily’s berserk machines, face Robot Master bosses, and take their weapons in evolving fight for justice against new and unique enemy designs. The new artwork and designs shown today also reveal a new Robot Master character.

Capcom also confirmed today that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be released on the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018. So all of the numbered Mega Man titles will be available on the Switch ahead of the Mega Man 11 release. The first collection includes the original six 8-bit Mega Man games, and it also has the addition of a new Rewind option, so players can go back in time and fix their blunders. This feature will be available to existing owners of the Mega Man Legacy Collection on the PlayStation, Xbox One and PC, and it will roll out later on.

For fans of the Mega Man X series, all eight games of the Mega Man X saga are also coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC in Summer 2018.
