In a blog for Playstation’s official website, NetherRealm Studios Story & Voiceover Director Dominic Ciancialo announced a huge DLC update for Mortal Kombat 11 that will see the addition of more story content, the return of friendships to the franchise and Robocop.

Robocop is the latest character from outside the franchise to join the game, a tradition that started with the reboot in 2011 with Kratos (Playstation version only) and Freddy Krueger. Mortal Kombat X had Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Alien and Predator. Mortal Kombat 11 saw the additions of The Joker, Spawn and the Terminator.

The cyborg police officer isn’t the only new character addition, as fans will also get access to Sheeva and Fujin. Sheeva was last seen in the 2011 game, but appears as an NPC in Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode. Fujin hasn’t been playable since Mortal Kombat Armageddon since 2006, although he has made cameos since then.

Friendships you may remember from the older days of Mortal Kombat. Instead of a fatality, it allows the fighter to spare their opponent with a gesture of goodwill. The friendship option hasn’t been available in the games since Mortal Kombat Trilogy in 1996. Stage fatalities also make a comeback, as do new takes on the Dead Pool and Soul Chamber stages.

Finally, the new DLC will be called Mortal Kombat: Aftermath. It will follow up on the ending to the original game’s story, as you can see in the trailer below. Ciancialo promised that the story additions will “give Nightwolf, Fujin, and Sheeva their most sizable roles in any Mortal Kombat game to date.” Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played Shang Tsung in the original 1995 film and reprised the role in the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC previously, will also be back. Those who pre-order on PS4 will get a special dynamic theme featuring Liu Kang and Raiden.
